  1. $53k is a token slap on the wrist. They can't let players confront officials like that, but they also know he was right. Jerry got a trivial fine and the official got suspended - it's obvious where the league stands on this.
  2. I'm gonna need to see the film of that play before commenting.
  3. Her initials must be BMW, 'cause she's a high-maintenance ride.
  4. That last one is a pretty big impact. You swing a few times - sometimes you miss and other times you hit a home run. The jury's still out on Josh, but it's looking like a good move so far.
  5. In my living room, six feet away from the wood stove, with a Bloody Mary in hand.
  6. If it was, how would I know?
  7. When asked for bail money, he responded, "Credits will do fine."
  8. We know he had plenty of room because we're looking at the bird's eye view. After all that running around, did HE know there wasn't someone right behind him?
  9. Clay didn't need to toe-tap in the end zone - all we needed was a first down. Catch the ball at the one; there was enough time for a couple more plays.
  10. He started that season as the backup QB, though. After he took over as starter, they figured that continuity was important. In retrospect ... Oops!
  11. That's the closest I've ever heard McD come to taking a direct shot at a player. It was thinly veiled, but it was a definite shot. And well deserved.
  12. There's a whole forum dedicated to politics. Could we stick to football in this thread?

  15. 1. This is a thread about McD vs McC, so the McC comment wasn't directed specifically at you. But the rest of your post (which I didn't ignore but chose not to quote) was pretty anti-McD. I was just saying that I'm not anointing him, but I think he deserves time to see his plan through. 2. Short of going undefeated, every team "needs help" to make the playoffs - they need a bunch of other teams to lose more games than they do. Whether or not any of those losses occur in week 17 is irrelevant; what matters is the record at the end of week 17. There are 16 teams in the AFC; of the 12 who didn't win their division, the Bills were the second best, so they made the playoffs. Some years, 9-7 gets you in; other years, 11-5 doesn't. Since teams almost never go undefeated, the phrase "needs help" is meaningless. 3. "Bound to make it sooner or later" assumes random luck. Yeah, an odd bounce here and there can sway a game, but good teams generally make the playoffs and bad teams generally don't. It's not a roll of the dice.
  16. Three points: 1. I'm not anointing McD, I just don't see a reason to even think about getting rid of him at this point. Certainly not for McCarthy. 2. We didn't back into the playoffs. Every team starts out 0-0 and the best 12 make the playoffs. Last year, we were one of the 12. 3. There's no such thing as the law of averages. It's a myth invented by people who never took a statistics class.
  17. Well, Dalton's on IR and the Bills are pretty much out of the playoff picture. That can't be coincidence, can it?
  18. I think he's into that synthetic stuff.
  19. When I was about ten, I was fishing with my Dad and my cousin. We were in a rowboat at Allegany State Park. Dad often went shirtless in the summer, and as I was casting without being careful, I hooked him right above the nipple. Years later, after we'd both given up on fishing (not because of that), we were on the golf course. Dad sliced a tee shot into the rough. It hit a tree and bounced out to the middle of the fairway. He smiled confidently and said, "That's how you use a wood."
  20. Everyone knew Josh was the future and whoever started this year was a placeholder until he was ready. Credit McD for recognizing that Josh was the better QB to win now and making the switch.
  21. I was never a Tyrod basher but I think it's safe to say that our defense got us to the playoffs and Tyrod was a game manager at best. I was all for giving him a chance to prove himself, but it became clear last season that he'd hit his ceiling. I'm happy they let him go.
  22. In 13 seasons with Favre and then Rodgers under center, McCarthy has ONE SB ring to show for it. McD got us to the playoffs in his rookie HC season with Tyrod Taylor at QB.
  23. I agree with your logic, Logic. And his running isn't just a valuable weapon, he's actually safer on the run than he is in the pocket. Hopefully that'll change with a better o-line, but for now, keep him on the move!
  24. Unless they suffer a total collapse AND the fish win out, NE are still the AFCE champs. But yeah, I'd love to knock them down a slot or two in the playoff scene. This season is about building.
