Sorry to hear about your breakup, Biscuit. I almost married my high school sweetheart. Would have been the biggest mistake of my life, although at the time of the breakup, I was pretty devastated. After the dust settled, I realized that it just wasn't meant to be. We had a lot in common and had some great times together, but deep down, there were differences in core values that just made the whole thing collapse. I learned a lot, though, both from the relationship itself and the way it ended. I learned about myself, relationships in general, how to be a better partner, and most importantly, how to choose a better partner. Several years later, I met a woman who was, in many ways, a lot like her. The main difference, however, was that we shared the same core values. She turned out to be "the one," and we've been married for 31 years now. As far as the "growing up" criticism, it really depends on what you mean by growing up. If you're mature enough to hold down a job, pay your bills, and be a supportive partner, then that's what matters. It doesn't mean to stop having fun, it just means to be responsible about it.

In the bars, with the men who play guitars Singin', drinkin' and rememberin' the times My little lover does a midnight shift She followed around all the time I guess there's just one thing left for me to do Gonna pack my bags and move on my way 'Cause I got a worried mind sharin' what I thought was mine Gonna leave her where the guitars play

After taxes, it's still more than most of us would make in a lifetime career. -
In the mornin' you go gunnin' for the man who stole your water And you fire till he is done in but they catch you at the border And the mourners are all singin' as they drag you by your feet But the hangman isn't hangin' and they put you on the street You go back, Jack, do it again, wheels turnin' 'round and 'round You go back, Jack, do it again

Well when you're sitting back in your rose pink Cadillac Making bets on Kentucky Derby Day Ah, I'll be in my basement room with a needle and a spoon And another girl to take my pain away Take me down little Susie, take me down I know you think you're the queen of the underground And you can send me dead flowers every morning Send me dead flowers by the mail Send me dead flowers to my wedding And I won't forget to put roses on your grave

Give Kiko a break. He was tired from chasing, but never catching, Josh Allen. -
Well, there's things that never will be right I know, And things need changin' everywhere you go, But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right, You'll never see me wear a suit of white. Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day, And tell the world that everything's OK, But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back, 'Til things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black

Woke up, fell out of bed Dragged a comb across my head Found my way downstairs and drank a cup And looking up I noticed I was late Found my coat and grabbed my hat Made the bus in seconds flat Found my way upstairs and had a smoke And somebody spoke and I went into a dream

I get knocked down, but I get up again You are never gonna keep me down I get knocked down, but I get up again You are never gonna keep me down I get knocked down, but I get up again You are never gonna keep me down I get knocked down, but I get up again You are never gonna keep me down He drinks a Whiskey drink, he drinks a Vodka drink He drinks a Lager drink, he drinks a Cider drink He sings the songs that remind him of the good times He sings the songs that remind him of the best times

Greatest Musical Composers in Rock/Pop/Country/etc
WhoTom replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in Off the Wall Archives
If I believed in reincarnation, I'd think that Pete Townshend was Beethoven in a previous life. Listen to Quadrophenia, start to finish, and see why. Turn off all distractions. Read the lyrics. Listen. -
Robert Foster: The BEST WR you've never heard of (Video)
WhoTom replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nice. Thanks for posting! His optimism is based on Foster's performance last year, plus the assumptions that 1) another speedster will take the pressure off of him, and 2) an improved o-line will give more time for the long plays to develop. Given the dismal state of our o-line and WR corps last year, combined with the off-season changes to those groups, it's safe to say that his assumptions are pretty reasonable. Scientifically, it's a good hypothesis. I'm looking forward to seeing the experiment performed. -
It must be getting early, clocks are running late Paint-by-number morning sky looks so phony Dawn is breaking everywhere Light a candle, curse the glare Draw the curtains, I don't care 'cause it's alright I will get by I will get by I will get by I will survive

Well, she was just seventeen You know what I mean And the way she looked Was way beyond compare So how could I dance with another When I saw her standing there?

When I was in college, a friend and I were talking about our fathers. Both were men of faith, proud patriots, disciplined ... they probably would have been friends if they had known each other. As it turned out, both were also WWII veterans. Oh, did I mention that my friend was from Japan? Yeah, there was an awkward moment when we both realized that our fathers were on opposite sides of the big war. Two guys with more similarities than differences, but because of petty politics, either one could have killed the other. I have great respect for those who have fought to defend our freedoms, and I think the best way to honor their sacrifices is to prevent any more from having to do the same.

^ "The Rodeo Song" was popular in my bar-hopping days. Oh, so cold up north that the birds can't hardly fly So cold up north that the birds can't hardly fly I'm going back south And let this winter pass on by.

Italian, Kielbasa, Chorizo, Bratwurst, Vienna, blood or...
WhoTom replied to BuffaloBill's topic in Off the Wall Archives
My Mom's sauce included meatballs, Italian sausage, and chunks of pork. It cooked all day on the stove, and by early afternoon, my brother and I were scooping up bowlfuls to eat with Italian bread. Molta bella! -

What about eggs? Who's the first guy who looked at a chicken and said, "I'm gonna eat the things that come out of its butt"?
