  3. "The Washington Bugs" would be a great name for the DC team. You know, Watergate and everything...
  4. If you would only stop to live One moment at a time You would, I think, be startled by The things that you would find Like scents you never noticed And many subtle sounds Like colors in the landscape And textures of the town
  5. My wife raises chickens, so we eat eggs regularly. Luckily, they're versatile and we all like them multiple ways, e.g.: Scrambled with veggies (I like mine in a taco shell) Fried, over medium (squishy, but not runny) Hard boiled - by itself with a little salt, in an egg salad sandwich, or sliced into a green salad Omelet, with home fries on the side
  6. The Jazz at least made sense when the team was formed ... in New Orleans. Definitely should have been changed when they moved, though.
  7. I didn't see anything about Christmas music in that article.
  8. I bought that book and a couple of harps a long time ago. The author has a good sense of humor and gives a lot of practical advice without delving into music theory, so it was pretty easy to develop a basic competence level. I fooled around with it for a while and then started playing guitar. then, about ten years ago, my guitar teacher offered a blues harp class, so I took it. It never really stuck, though, although once in a while I still pick it up and play. I find guitar to be more enjoyable, so that's what I play regularly.
  9. Been seeing way too much of that one lately.

  12. We have several oriole families bringing their young ones to the feeder now. It's cool to watch the youngsters wait in the nearby tree while their mom or dad gets jelly from the feeder and brings it to them. Gradually, the little ones start coming to the feeder but still waiting for the parent to feed them. Eventually the parents bring the young to the feeder and then leave, and the chicks learn to feed themselves.

  14. https://www.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#cases Take a look at the last 7 days. Mouse over each state to see what percentage of their total cases have been reported in the last 7 days. 20% - 25% of the total cases in FL, TX, and OK have occurred in the last 7 days, since those states relaxed their rules. NY, on the other hand, is 1.3%. Overall, they're doing much worse south of the Mason-Dixon line. CA is an anomaly, no doubt, but it borders NV, AZ. IL has gotten worse since WI opened everything up. Someone else mentioned death rates, as if there were only two possible outcomes to being infected: death or full recovery. There's a whole lot of misery in between those two extremes.

  16. One of my college buddies is an engineer in Detroit. One of his vendors gave him and his wife a bunch of tickets to a Phish show there - in a luxury suite - and they invited us to join them. All expenses paid: VIP parking, tickets to the show, private suite with fully-stocked fridge and bar. A very memorable experience. Unfortunately, he also invited some other friends who weren't fans, but wanted to take advantage of the free booze. They got trashed and puked all over the bathroom. His vendor never offered him tickets again.
  17. During the Trent Edwards/Dick Jauron era, I remember seeing a sign that said, "THERE'S SOMETHING MISSING IN BUFFAL"
