    My brother used to coach Little League and high-school baseball. He also umpired in leagues in which he wasn't coaching. He told me that the parents are the worst. Also, the school principals who asked him to "bend" the academic requirement rules for student athletes. (My brother was also a teacher.) Is it any wonder that some of these kids turn out to be entitled brats?

    Three decades in higher education here, and I've seen my share of the people you're talking about. But your point doesn't refute mine, since those people don't actually teach. (In fact, most of the the ones I've known have become administrators.)

    Yeah, that's like "I'm not a racist, but..." You KNOW the next thing they say will be racist. And if I ever preface a statement with the phrase "With all due respect," the implication is that the amount due is zero. It's my equivalent of a southerner saying, "Well, bless your heart."

    "Ignorance is bliss." It may be bliss for the ignorant but for the rest of us, it's pretty damn annoying. In reality, it's not bliss for anyone. Most of the ignorant people I know are constantly angry, and usually they're angry with the wrong people.

    His Brady worship is the only thing I don't like about Romo. Otherwise, he's currently the best analyst in the business and one of the best of all time. I think it's tough for any former QB to criticize Brady, especially one who's never won a SB. Brady can just respond with, "How many rings ya got? How about league MVPs?"
