  13. I read both, but since we subscribed to Amazon Prime, I've been reading a lot of e-books. Every month they release free books for subscribers. Often, they're the first books in a series. If I like it, I'll purchase more from that author. I know some people really prefer the feel of a hard copy, but I find the tablet easier to hold. Also, when we travel, it's nice to have several books in one tablet.
  14. You got your nice shades on And the worst days are gone So now the band plays on You got one life, blaze on
  15. My reading habits are all over the place. For example: Sci-fi: Asimov, Bradbury, Clarke, and other classics, plus modern sci-fi. And of course, all five books in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy "trilogy." (If you like The Guide, you might also enjoy Adams' Dirk Gently novels.) I don't read a lot of westerns, but I enjoyed the Lonesome Dove series. Off-beat stuff: Kurt Vonnegut, Tom Robbins, Tony Vigorito. I also read murder mysteries, courtroom dramas, and psychological thrillers, and flat-out comedies. In non-fiction, I'm a science geek who also indulges in Eastern philosophy (mainly Taoism and Buddhism, not as religions but as a way of life.) Others mentioned Dharma Bums (Kerouac) and Catch-22 (Heller). I liked both of those, although Catch-22 took a while to grab me. If you're reading it and thinking about giving up, give it a few more chapters - it'll be worth it.
  16. You didn't have to love me like you did But you did, but you did. And I thank you.

  19. My life's a mess, I wait for you to pass I stand here at the bar, I hold an empty glass
  20. Whoa - that was my first concert too. My sister and brother-in-law took me and two friends; they dropped us off at the show and picked us up after. (It was '79, by the way.) I remember the cloud. We may or may not have contributed to it. 😉
  21. This thread brings back memories. My older sister and her husband used to take me to Braves and Sabres games when I was a kid. (I even saw Kareem when the Braves played the Bucks.) As I got older, I saw my first few concerts at the Aud. I think the last time I was in the building was for the Doobie Brothers in '89. My wife and I had floor seats, near the back. When we arrived, the sound board was where our seats should have been. We found an usher who looked at our tickets and said, "Follow me - we have upgrades for you." Got to the office where they handed us a pair of tickets about ten rows from the stage - so close, I could see Tom Johnston's earring.
  22. Not only that, but the paper licenses weren't even laminated and they used block lettering (think 7-segment LEDs). I "aged" a year by turning a 3 into a 2, simply by scratching out one line segment and writing it in on the other side. It worked every time but once, and I was smart enough to just walk away without arguing.
