Angry texts sent to Beane after Shakir pick
WhoTom replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
I read "text" but my brain thought "tweet." That's why I said "overpay a little." I won't pay $12+ for a 4-pack, but I won't complain if I get one for Father's Day. -

Exactly. Value is, to a certain extent, subjective; a commodity is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. It's okay to overspend a little to get what you really want, as long as you balance that by being somewhat frugal on things where, for your purposes, the more costly version isn't significantly better than the less expensive one. e.g., I'll spend extra money on quality craft beers, but I'm cool with middle-of-the-road wines and liquors. -

Me too. I thought he'd gotten angry messages from Bills fans. The texts from other GMs were mentioned in this thread: -
Nice interview! I appreciate the advice for aspiring authors. I'm a technical writer, semi-retired, and I'm now working on a novel. I've got tons of experience writing non-fiction, but other than one somewhat crappy short story, this is my first foray into fictional authoring. I honestly don't care whether it sells; I just have a story in me and I want to tell it. “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” - Maya Angelou

I'm going with Edmunds. With a breakout season, he could be disruptive against the run and the pass. I know that statistically, our defense was ranked higher than our offense last year, but stats don't win games. In at least two of our losses last year, the D gave up big runs that resulted in TDs. Those games were decided by less than 7 points and cost us the #1 seed. And when the stakes were highest in the playoffs, the offense did enough to beat the Chiefs, while the defense caved. Von will help a lot in that regard, but a great year from Edmunds would set us over the top. -

And in other episodes of "Tell me something honest, Tom": "Keep this on the low down but ..." [looks both ways] "... those balls might have been deflated." "Keep this on the low down but ..." [looks both ways] "... Belichick might have illegally taped opponents' pre-game practices." "Keep this on the low down but ..." [looks both ways] "... my helmet radio might have continued receiving past the 15-second mark." "Keep this on the low down but ..." [looks both ways] "... Bob Kraft might have skirted the salary cap by investing in TB12 using shadow corporations." "Keep this on the low down but ..." [looks both ways] "I might have had absolutely no intention of retiring at the end of last season." "Keep this on the low down but ..." [looks both ways] "I might have a desperate need for attention."

Yeah, we certainly don't want highly trained professional meteorologists telling us about the relationship between climate and weather when any scientifically illiterate senator can debunk that crap by making a snowball in January.
