Lady of the night
Won't you steal away with me?
Lady of the night
Won't you steal away with me?
The money's lyin' on the floor, she looks at me
Shakes her head and sighs
Out of time, out the door
Red light shinin' in my eyes
We watched a few episodes of The Office and Community; neither of us was impressed. I do have Parks and Rec on the Peacock watchlist - we'll give it a go eventually.
Actually, minimum wage was $3.35 at the time. That's why we knew all the places that had wing and beer specials!
But things are even worse today. To put it in perspective:
minimum wage has increased by a factor of 1.24 since 1983
the cost of wings has increased by a factor of 15 since 1983 (based on this thread)
corporate profits (after taxes) have increased by a factor of 13 since 1983

Well, it's alright, even if you're old and grey
Well, it's alright, you still got something to say
Well, it's alright, remember to live and let live
Well, it's alright, the best you can do is forgive
In the early 80s, The Casino in Bemus Point had a Monday night special: ten-cent wings and three Bud splits (7 oz bottles) for a buck. With a $5 bill, you could fill up on wings and beer and leave a 25% tip.
In fact, most places had a ten-cent wing night, and many offered pitcher specials on the same night.
Singing to an ocean, I can hear the ocean's roar (ooh)
Play for free, play for me, and play a whole lot more, more! (ooh)
Singing about good things and the sun that lights the day (ooh)
I used to sing on the mountains, has the ocean lost its way?
