I have no idea I think people call him that, I like it its fun. I am not a Jags fan and when they are good their kind of a fun low key rival as we have had some games. But I really like Lawrence and I am curious how he does there. Their O-line is awful, we will run 9 sacks on them if they do not improve protection
-
I tuned in last night to see how Lawrence and crew looked and I was dismayed. I like T-Law a lot and think he will join Allen and Mahomes as the kings in the AFC, but their gonna get this kid killed if they can show protection. He can move decently and there is no doubt the potential is there, but their offensive line is as bad as the Bills in 2018. I think their skill players are not bad though. Their offense was also really basic it reminded me of the Jauron days with a lot of 5 yard passes that can break. I am not super well versed in scheme and why teams run certain plays, but with Allen did we intentionally run easier short passes to help or in general is that something teams do or are the Jags the second coming of the 09 Bills dink and dunk nothing attack haha Anyway just wondering what others thought as the Jags quietly should be one of those teams that challenge and I was happy Lawrence wasn't in our division, but early on (and I know it is early) the Urban experiment doesn't look very good.

It sucks saying that too but the goal is a SB and I want the best lineup regardless of feelings or situation.
-
It is tough with Harry because he has one full healthy season (2018) we he showed a few flashes, a great start before injury (2019), and a bad season last year. Personally I think he is more of a depth player and fans like he because he's a fun good dude which causes a portion of the fanbase to inflate his true value. I would take a hard look at Jurrel Casey or Kwan Short if I were the Bills in place of Phillips. It is year four and besides injury issues he just hasn't shown enough to keep being worth the time.
-
Steelers are kinda the inverse of the Patriots in their last season with Brady. The roster is decently solid and last year propped up an aging QB whereas Brady propped up an aging lineup. Thing is you'll take the QB propping the roster as a bet of the aging guy. I really think they fall to 7-8-9 wins top between the division they have and schedule in general. I would honestly be stunned if they make the playoffs this year, it feels like the year things finally fall.
-
It's why I have their scoring down a bit also. The offensive line was very healthy and outside of John Browns injury they were really healthy up front.
-
Agreed and honestly the Browns in 19 was a 50/50 type loss I wouldn't say it was shocking. In general the 2019 season really didn't have a shocking loss and probably the only shocking win was Dallas. If anything 2020 had more unexpected wins as they just hadn't beat the likes of SEA/LA and the ARZ loss was just luck and one great play.

PIT: W. 27-21 tight win as Steelers play tighter but can only get so close @MIA: L. 24-21 Allen finally plays human and the Bills get caught against a Dolphins team that is looking to prove something WFT: W. 28-20 Washington hangs around the whole time but Bills are a step above and Fitz can't tie the game on final drive HOU: W. 35-10 Blowout as Texas play for top overall pick this year. Tyrod gets a standing O for killing the drought @KC: L. 28-24 Bills lose but mark my words it will be because of a highly controversial call one way or the other that decides the game. The Bills will have the lead also in the 4th quarter adding to Bills fans anguish on the loss. @TEN: W. 31-27 The game is a track meet but Buffalo wins on the final drive to right the ship at 4-2 MIA: W. 31-20 Dolphins hang in but Bills make no mistake this time around and Allen throws for 400 @JAC: W. 27-17 Jags make a game of it and Lawrence shows he will be entering the AFC top QB discussion soon @NYJ: W. 41-13 After a lot of closer games the Bills throttle the Jets as Wilson can't do much and a Jets defense can't do much as they are talent thin. IND: W. 24-14 I think the Colts are not a great team but they are well coached. This game mimics the Chargers last year as Buffalo is the better team but it is close @NO: W. 29-18 The Saints are a .500 team to me and it is mostly close but the better QB decides the game as Allen gets a late TD to seal the win NE: W. 27-20 Patriots are improved and it is a tight game like last year at home but the Bills improved defense allows Buffalo ahead throughout and the Pats QB are a bit confused @TB: L. 27-17 The last time the Bills won in Tampa Bay was 1991 and they have only won twice in TB while losing 7 times. They just seem to have bad games here. Close game until a late fumble by Singletary allows TB to kick a FG mid 4th quarter and ice the game. CAR: W 34-24. Spirited scoring affair but Buffalo keeps it a 10 pt game pretty much throughout as Allen has his second 400 yd day of the year @NE: L 21-17. The Patriots built their team to beat Buffalo and finally reign in the Bills. Doesn't matter division is already out of reach and Bills are still able to get AFC top seed as KC has more losses. ATL: W 28-14. Falcons game is a snoozer as Buffalo jumps out to an early 21-0 lead and just sits ahead the rest of the game. This game has a lot of snow also. NYJ: W 31-17. Late Jets TD makes the game look closer, it isn't. Another cold blistery day sees the Bills clinch the top AFC seed. Final record 13-4, 9-3 AFC conference record and 4-2 in division PPG scored: 27.76 (472 pts) PPG allowed:18.88 (321 pts) Overall it will be another great year with the team in general a little more balanced as the offense is slightly less pass happy because the run game is more effective and the defense reverts back to being top 10. Teams that have scored 500 pts or more have regressed the year after by at least 5 TDs and I think a few of last years wins got inflated late. Additionally having fans back will bring points down a little across the board in the league. Flip side is even though PPG falls by 3.54, PPG allowed also falls by almost 5. The Bills under McD had never had a defense with a DVOA ranked above 10 and last year they were 12th. Trust me the defense is coming back hard this year. Division wise NE (10-7) comes in 2nd and Miami 3rd (10-7) as both make the playoffs and sweeping division is incredibly tough. NE only did it a handful of times with Brady which is why I have them at 4-2. I could see them at 12-5 but honestly looking at the schedule I had a hard time even getting to 13-4. Bills host the Chargers in Division and win, host KC and finally slay the dragon, and then beat LA in the SB. lol whoops reading is hard someimtes
-
Ah the Bills did sweep their division last year

Not the same level but the loss to Houston my parents had a party for with our family and friends. The mood swung from we are going to the airport! , "first playoff win in 23 years" , etc.. to the FG went in for HOU and no one said anything. At some point the Patriots Titans game came on and I am pretty sure I didn't leave the spot on the couch for 30 mins.
-
I wouldn't say I hate them and def didn't mind most while here minus Poz and Hogan. Marrone I think wanted more control and if I remember one of Polians to come in and replace Whaley.
-
Makes sense 1 SB loss is a FG miss but it happens, 2 were blowouts, the other slowly faded. You can prepare for that and the FG loss at the time wasn't a gimmee the way kicks inside 50 generally are considered now. By comparison the Titans game was a brutal slugfest and getting a FG at that point felt like we iced it. I was speechless watching because it was just so stunning. The Cardinals game felt similar but not being a playoff game helped a little. By comparison Music City never stopped being shown and the implications were so large it was a knife to the heart and it being the last bills playoff game in 17 years was just great long term also lol

Virigl love what you wrote and I want to play along too as you formatted this really well 1 – First Bills Memory – My dad took me to a game when Kelly Thomas and Reed were still playing so I was able to be there. I do not remember much other then we were 300s and it was loud. My first Bills game I remember was the famous 2000 Bills Bears game when Johnson got put in during the 3rd quarter, got hurt, and the fans cheered him going off (not Bills fans finest hour). My other big Bills memory was actually at my grandparents because they had the 1990 Bills VHS season recap. I watched that incessantly and actually have it now and watch it once before every season as a way to remember them/bring a little luck. The 98 Dolphins playoff loss I remember watching with my dad and after we lost I went to go rip up my Dolphins trading cards I was so mad we lost. Dad didn't let me but I could see the smile on his face. That is probably all my early memories. 2 Dedication – My wife and I will drop pretty much anything to go to a game if we can. Even with kids we will do what we can and they are being indoctrinated into fandom. I have a signed framed poster for the 2014 team because they actually went 9-7, EJ Manuel uni, swore we were upsetting the Pats in 07 SNF, wear specific unis depending on the game, and can name where I was for way to many games that have zero importance and the big moments of the game. I need help haha 3 – I’m Wrong….A Lot – 1000% agree with you on this. I also was team Rosen to the point the moment they drafted Allen we left the draft party we were at because I was pissed. 4 – Bill from NYC – "Everything dies, baby, that's a fact, but maybe everything that dies someday comes back" 5 – The Grind – My thing has always been doing the schedule and historical recaps. I have zero clue how people like you can analyze the game to depths you do. I also was the person responsible for the cut Micah Hyde thread last year ...whoops! (in fairness the defense was sucking and he was not playing well for 3 games haha) 6 – Rules – I have a rule after bad losses that I will not post for 24 hrs the same way players are only allowed to typically be mad for 24 hrs. Usually by the next day I am composed more to be more thoughtful. I will say as I have gotten older my takes have matured and I do not necessarily live and die on each game or play. That said that Cardinals game unhinged me for a while haha. 7 – Favorite Players – As a kid I liked Kelly I thought he modeled the type of player you wanted to lead the team. The 2000s guys like Lee Evans, George Wilson and Terrence McGee (dang injuries' robbed him of a better career) were some of my favorites. I was a huge Stevie Johnson fan and think he was criminally underrated. Eric Wood was a real favorite of mine for his play and honesty, I hate that his career ended as I felt he was the perfect center for this team but oh well. I loved Aaron Williams and hated that his career got taken out the way it did just as he emerged into a true leader and pro bowl caliber player. Ironically Micah Hyde literally slipped in as the exact player I think Williams would've been. Matt Milano is probably my favorite dude now and the results show how much they need him as when he's out the defense is remotely the same. Kyle Williams is a HOF outside of Buffalo, loved him and we completely let his career down until the very end. 8 – Most Disliked Players – Donte Whitner dude was a jerk, Paul Poz he made a ton of tackles.... 7 yards downfield was always behind the play, Watkins for carrying about being a Diva then being a team player, Chris Hogan for his drops in 2015, McKelvin for just not catching punts/kick offs and going down, Willis McGhee self explained, Dareus not in play way more because he wasted potential to be so much better which was sad to see, and Charles Clay for the amount of drops and bad plays he made including his flub against Miami in 18 when Allen played lights out. Coach wise Marrone and Jauron were soul killing for punting on the 40 of the opponent on 4th and 2. 9 – Favorite Memories – 2011 Raiders Bills win (huge comeback was insane to be at) Slaying the Pats in 2011 EJ comeback vs Panthers in 2013 was 100 level for that Packers win in 2014 (loudest I've ever heard the stadium) Colts opener in 2015 was really cool 2017 Snowbowl was front row that was downright surreal Drought ending and finally watching a playoff game with my wife for the 1st time and father as an adult 2018 tailgate before the Bears game. Lets be honest we knew it was a loss and Peterman would implode so honestly it was just a fun time partying 2019 Jets opener felt like a new dawn when they came back 2019 Cowboys was soooo cathartic 2019 Steelers to clinch for real was awesome. Stayed up to 2 am listening to radio of bills fans Entire 2020 season was a dream after living my teenage years into adult years in drought Bills. Was rewarding after sooo many down years to get that 10 – Thank you - Thank you Virgil!

Madden 22 Team Ratings: Bills 6th at 86
corta765 replied to dollars 2 donuts's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gotta love how Madden has Dallas at 86 meanwhile across the league they aren't even considered the division favorite. It's one of the 1000 problems with the game where it overrates skill players over team. I will say this both Star Wars battlefront games they made were good and Jedi Fallen order was really good. Battlefront 1's online multiplayer was the best most real to movie gameplay I've ever experienced both in look and feel. But in general I do agree with you. -

2017 is under construction and it will be my magnum opus -
Considering they literally have 4 active receivers at this point and they are dropping like flies if this happen I may buy you a pizza for calling it.

A Few Thoughts About the Lions Game, in no particular order
corta765 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Few ideas for what you can use: -Quotes from Bills drought coaches after random nothing losses for us to decode which it was -Hurricane names from the past, again we decode the year you just need to describe it -There are 17 games so each week pick a player in correspondence to the # with the fun fact. Doesn't need to be limited to this year -Use a dog breed week to week to describe good or bad. -Drinks! You could say this game was like an IPA, trash at the start followed by horrendous puking later on (that describes the drought in a nutshell) I will see my way out now haha -
Preseason TNF: WFT at Pats / Eagles at Steelers
corta765 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If I was a Pats fan I wouldn't want Jones playing for a while. Cam looks decent and Jones did some nice things last night which with some time could really develop. Cam needed more help and NE certainly added some pieces to make his life better. I can easily see NE winning 8-10 games with Cam and the offense just improving a bit which allows Jones time to find his way. If Cam stinks it up it will make it an easier choice to go to Jones, but the current structure of the offense should do well for Cam. Jones sitting will benefit him to not be rushed. The preseason experience will help, but when the live bullets' fly very few rookies have ever came out without some tough lessons. It shall be interesting how it works out -

It wasn't until his injuries in Carolina. The All or Nothing series highlighted how bad his arm got messed up. I think Cam could do pretty decent in the offense and while his arm may not be 100% what it was, if it has healed properly and has no lingering issues he should be fine. Last night I thought he looked pretty solid. -

Questions for those of us who endured the drought
corta765 replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Players are human and anyone whose plays sports knows its easy to buy into something that makes sense and when it doesn't its really hard not to ask what are we doing. Rex did a great job of taking his most talented players and creating that exact situation. -

I've actually thought that had Mario been with McD he would've flourished. -
Questions for those of us who endured the drought
corta765 replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So in my opinion the true worst part of the drought where my opinion and lack of faith in the team was at the max was 2005-2011. During that time the coaches were retreads that was nothing of brand due to Buffalo's unwillingness to pay or reputation, the players flamed out who were suppose to be the new core, and in general they became hyper irrelevant outside of a TO signing here or a Bill inducted in the HOF. They also had a string of absolutely brutal drought style losses ranging from the Dallas MNF game, the NE SNF blow out, the NE fumble loss, the CLE MNF loss the CLE 6-3, etc.. where in bigger stages we failed spectacularly. Mix in the lease expiring and uncertainty of the team in Buffalo it was a REALLY hard to time as a fan. My opinion started to change in 2012 when they got Mario. He was not a burnt out old name FA like TO he was a legit top impact player and he choose Buffalo. I think nationally it was the first brick to the team starting its climb back up. I've always laughed when people say he was a bust considering he never missed a game, had 43 sacks in 4 years, was a Pro Bowler in 13/14, 2nd All pro 13, and 1st All Pro 14, plus the teams record increased. Anyhoo that was the start of "ok maybe we are actually back in this thing and expectations should raise". From there I think it was gradual for me as Marrone was viewed as a decent hire that wasn't a retread, the Pegula's buying the team in 2014 solidified the long term out look, and the Bills drafting improved as they did add Gilmore, Dareus, Woods, Watkins, and Wood while trading for McCoy and Hughes. That finally gave them a decent roster where for me you could realistically say they were not meeting expectations and they have playoff worthy talent as opposed to well maybe will get lucky. All that said it was still drought and yea PTSD came back hard at points where you threw you hands up and said "come on just one time let it go our way". I just did my 2016 Defining Moments thread and the Seattle and Miami games were both moments where faith was broken as they failed the big test. But yea 2017 was the big year as they finally slayed the dragon. To be 100% honest I thought they were going to suck that season. Things changed with Atlanta as the team had a chance to be 3-1 and win a big road game against the defending NFC champs. In the prior 17 years they lost this game every time and every break went against them. But finally Taylor makes a big throw to Clay, Hyde's INT counts, and they close when it gets tight. At that point I at least bought the coaching staff had an idea what they were doing. The KC win after losing three straight to go 5-5 was equally as important as previous Bills squads faltered after hot starts and when the pressure came to bounce back they couldn't. Instead young guys like Tre's INT and Milano stepped up and they gutted it out. Making the playoffs changed my belief but it was " a process" with the coaching staff. After that I was confident they could make some legit headway, but even I probably didn't foresee how they developed Josh to this point or Diggs addition etc.. They really proved it and their success in 2017 made it easy to believe. Nationally Dallas 2019 Thanksgiving full stop. Up until then the narrative was "well the Bills got lucky in 2017 and they have some talent and McD is decent but they haven't shown much". The way they beat Dallas and resiliency throughout spoke volumes and was the Bills kicking the door down that yea were back and good and notice is now served. Anything I've expected since that game they've surpassed and at this point I believe they will win the SB this decade so I am just sitting back and enjoying the ride and even if it gets bouncy I don't doubt with the leadership, coaching, and Josh they will be ok.
