24 Hour Later Thoughts... Even a DEEP Thought
corta765 replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would have rather he just was kept on PUP until bye then. They could've used his spot for a player fully able to play that can do more. It legitimately impacted their games like CIN when he is not his full self and misses plays. I don't disagree on player recovery and they need live bullets, but I thought how Tre came back honestly was a better approach. -
24 Hour Later Thoughts... Even a DEEP Thought

My general rule of thumb is to not comment to much until 24 hrs pass after a game because the feeling can be too raw good or bad. Enough time has past and were 23 hrs later so close enough, this is some things I feel after this game: 1. The offense looked cleaner and played with more of a purpose in terms of play design. My general feeling with Dorsey grew that it became too vanilla and too much hinged on one or two things per play putting a lot of pressure on Josh to be perfect which is why I felt he looked off as time progressed. After the Packer/Jets mid season games it seemed like defenses had figured out that Buffalo played a very basic package that was predictable. Doesn't mean the offense did not have success as the numbers show, but from poor play designs, to times you really felt like at home you knew what was coming, or just play calls coming in late things felt off more often then not and it was Josh being a hero. It is only one game, but everything people said about Brady as an OC seemed evident as they played far looser and crisper then we have seen in a long time. The mesh design on the Cook TD was beautiful and something you didn't get with Dorsey. I am forgetting the name of the reporter but Buffalo used motion on 19 plays the highest they have since 2019. The middle of the field was actually worked as Shakir and Kincaid just ate the Jets middle which they needed to do as the Jets did cover Diggs and Davis well. Again one game, but the change in approach was noticeable. 2. With all of that said a few bounces finally just went Buffalo's way. From the opening fumble on it was a day which things finally went Buffalo's direction and they were due for some breaks as the last few weeks regardless of opinion on the offense their luck was crap across the board. Even the beautiful play by Allen to beat Gardner and connect with Shakir had a feeling of finally as the amount of tipped passes by defenders had gotten annoying. Only Josh can make that throw and what a throw it was, but finally a defender also didn't have there play of the damn year against us. 3. Someday a book will explained why Josh in a year and half of Dorsey as coordinator went from a happy golden retriever to a low positive guy looking for his volleyball at sea. Maybe finally the Bills had the hammer from the start and it is always easier or Dorsey being fired got Josh rezoned. Not sure what it is, but maybe just maybe letting your Demi God of a QB do a QB draw and have some fun which he enjoys a few times allowed the guy to free up. 4. The Jets wasted a division title caliber defense by never finding another QB. It is trying mind numbing that they were so stuck in playing Wilson they never explored an alternative. Watching Josh Dobbs play competent QB last night had to be beyond aggravating for Jet fans as truthfully I think was just league average QB play they probably win the division this season. Breece Hall had some very nice players yesterday and Garrett Wilson is being wasted over there. Happy them not us but dang. Deep Thought! : Yesterday's 81 yard Shakir TD was the 2nd longest TD of Josh's career. Can you name the 1st and 3rd longest? (NO CHEATING) 5. Douglas is a really really nice player that was acquired basically for the compensation pick the Bills will get for Edmunds. I am 100% fine with cutting Tre White (love him to death but $ is high and two knee injuries no bueno) as next year you can easily roll this as your starting 3 CBs: CB1 Benford CB2 Douglas NCB Johnson I think Poyer may be gone after this year so you will need a new safety soon and Hyde probably has a year left, but the secondary should remain quite talented and stable which is nice. Dane Jackson is fine as the 4th guy out there. 6. Von Miller has to be recovering still he just does not look right. I understand they are aiming for him to hit his stride around KC based off all comments, but it really does feel like he rushed back and isn't there. He has just two tackle since returning and while he is on a pitch count you would like to seem some production. Hopefully he makes me eat my words against PHI and finds his stride, but it really is frustratingly unfortunate as literally until injury he was great last year and now its like we have a lemon at DE were paying big money for. 7. This is the best the defensive line has been since 2014. It really is unfortunate Jones isn't hear to join the fun and Von is at 50%, but regardless they have been a lot of fun to watch over the season and helped to bail out the defense in some games where the rest of the team is hurt or just off. Leonard Floyd has been truly superb with 9.5 sacks already while Epenesa & Oliver both have 6. Groot started hot and again it looks like injury has slowed him, but as a unit they are at 39 sacks and pacing for 60 on the year which would be their highest in team history if they hit it. Granted extra game played now, but even with one less game they would tie the 2014 unit with 57 sacks which is the team record. 8. On a more serious note they got the W which had to happen to keep their playoffs hope going. The tough part is now full center though as 10 wins at this point probably gets you in given the attrition starting in the AFC and lack of playable QBs. But if they truly want to feel better the Bills have to find a way to beat PHI or KC in their house. Neither stadium is an easy place and both teams are superb. But this is the hole they dug for themselves with the bad losses to NYJ/NE that never should have happened. Regardless I feel OK that they can probably take DAL/at LAC/NE for a nice 3 pack of wins, the key to getting some spacing is the next two.

Week 11, NJ Jest v. Bills - Predict the Score

Bills 23 Jets 10 Football is stupid and I want a new coach. -
They do this every year when there is a the true cover athlete and then for subsequent update/season releases they change it to legends. All marketing to increase sales nothing wild. The game itself will still feature Josh primarily.

This to the max ^ People need to realize WGR is the flagship station and your never going to get strong sweeping takes from most of the people in Sal or Brown or Taskers shoes. It is state radio and the message is controlled in a certain way. If I am not mistaken Brown was even suspended for a week or two for making a relatively light slight about the team last year Overall the entire way sports and media are received is entirely different from the old non/early internet days. Newspaper, radio, even TV use to compete with each other in a triad balance and that was the main way of receiving information. As the internet and social media grew all of this changed to a point it is not as controllable or the main focal point. Some of the best analysis I get is from non brand NFL groups like Cover 1 / Yards Per Pass etc... where they truly break down what is happening and have at least informational backed takes not just bias. Twitter or X whatever it is can give you more analysis then anything the the Bills Show can, so in a sense for the Bills or any team they have to be even more controlled in messaging at this time. I am a big hockey fan and I listen to a lot of podcasts because frankly the content is superb and some of the people are ahead of what most teams are doing in evaluating their own lineup.

Lol my last two losses in person have been DEN and MIN My last two night games had the OC fired the next day. Yet my overall record is way above .500 and I don't have seasons. Nothing makes sense

Super Bowl champions goes through adversity

Honestly props to you if you are still believing and able to positive after all of this. -
That is why we didn't keep our seasons after 2016. Cost was no issue as section 143 row 32 was $650 a ticket so for two it was a piece of cake at $1300. But having to come from Rochester broke me when you had 3-4 hr rides home because the traffic and accidents were brutal. We really did love having seasons and you kinda have a different feeling when you go all year and it becomes your section. I have wanted to split seasons since but haven't pressed hard.

His time has come and passed. He still drives the ship and the offense certainly felt his influence this year and in general the team seems to no longer be responding to him. 24' offseason will realistically define what happens to Allen long term in terms of talent around him. He is in the prime of his career and probably has 5-6 good-great years left before hitting 33-34 when QBs really start to slow. They have 9 picks and can open upwards of 40-50 mil in capspace while realistically letting some long term vets leave also. At this point I don't think McD should get another kick at the can with that type of resources to reshape the roster and coach. You can finally get an offensive head coach to see if they can max what Josh does and the offense rather then risking every few years a new OC whether fired or hired elsewhere. All of that mixed with it looks like the program is past its prime and Marvin Lewis esq in terms of ceiling makes me want to do the change when it still is prime.
-
Yep that is where I am at. For the first time since 2019 I got the feeling maybe Allen won't get the team to a SB and a lot of that is just because we are pissing away another year of his prime.

Honestly I completely agree it was a bad energy, but the moment they fumbled on the first play the air went out of the stadium and energy. Instead it was just here we go AGAIN which is exhausting. Most exciting part of the game for me was my buddy and I breaking up a fight/getting a guy to security who sucker punched someone. Mind you this happened in the 1st quarter so it wasn't like the true bad vibes were out yet.

No “I quit the Bills” threads on TBD!? I am shocked!

Eh I think a lot of us after the Pats loss realized who this team was and it just is what it is right now. -

The fact it took so long to get Kincaid going who from week 1 on has been open 24/7 was concerning. "First time caller long time listener" -

Fast fact these are ideas and ways to improve. Your 100% right 31 other teams doing the same so of course it is a battle. At the same time it came out the Bills looked at ODB and then went with Hardy/Sheff mix so its not like they haven't explored this avenue -

Evans is a bandaid. Davis is gone and that is why I said draft a kid. But Josh has never had a vertical big WR like Evans I think he would excel. -
Cold Hard Truths The Season Has Given Us As Bills Fans
corta765 replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall
When he is allowed to play the game in his best way like 20-22 he is incredibly dynamic and has led the NFL in total TDs. You can have some turnovers. As currently constructed with the offense and what they want is a problem and the turnovers become magnified They 100% are retooling this offseason. They have 9 draft picks and can open upwards of 50 mil in space. This actually is the time to do a new program and refresh the vision and lineup. Diggs cap hit is too much in 24, 25 though I think he is gone. -
Just gonna shoot straight from the hip here and call it as I see it: -The losses have all been soul crushing type. NYJ/NE/DEN were last second crap that makes you want to scream. I will always rather lose by a lot then a little because it is far more painful. CIN wasn't as close but the Kincaid fumble ruined any real shot and JAX was close for the most part until the D wilted at the end -The Bills superbowl window with McD is over. The window with Allen 100% exists but there is only one path forward and the longer they take to make the wholesale change need at headcoach the less time they have with that window. -The direction of the team needs to be offense first and defense be damned. It has been pointed out numerous times and properly that the force to make Josh dink and dunk and be safe is back firing worse then just letting him be and the offense attacking. -The defense is fine and even injury wise held ok. But it is concerning that when the big moments come and they need a stop they keep faltering badly. I don't see that changing this season it is what it is. Long term I actually feel good about the defense when they are healthy for the future as outside of Von & the safeties they have good talent and are pretty young -The biggest issue not being brought up that can really derail the offense further is Diggs. His age is real and his days are very numbered, after him Kincaid looks like a stud and Shakir isn't bad but they do not have much. They really need to add a rookie and even a guy like Mike Evans this offseason to shore that up. They can hire a new coach/oc etc.. but the offense needs more at the WR spot otherwise any return back to high play we liked will be capped. -It is really frustrating as a fan that the regression is as real as it has been as a team and it feels we have fallen from being a Tier 1 team to middling at best. I cannot see any justification for keeping McD at this point. He did a great job stabilizing and building this team up, but his program is maxxed out and there is nowhere left to go with him.

[QUESTION] Your Opinion On This Team Will Change Tonight If:
corta765 replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall
Nope. My opinion since the defense got the plague has been they still have the ability to be a dynamic SB caliber team but it goes back to the offense finding the high points they are capable of and 17 just doing 17 things a bit more with less conservativeness. They should at least be a playoff team and anything less is total failure. They have 8 games to figure it out and at least get in the dance. -
I would add this, getting a ring and going the distance eliminates the pressure of the business type approach that settles in as you try to climb the ladder. Even making the SB is a badge of sorts that you can at least have some swagger of going the distance. You hit the nail on the head that the pressure has come as expectations and success has grown. Kelly was 100% different because his first 3 years were in the USFL and when he came to Buffalo he already was a thing and it was more how long will it take to build with him. Kelly almost had the benefit of the doubt that he could have the swagger of a 1000 man from day 1, Josh had to earn it.

Week 10, Broncos v. Bills - Predict the Score
corta765 replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
Rams in 21 lost after the bye, last year the Chiefs narrowing avoided a loss to the Titans led by Malik Willis in OT. Biggest thing about the bye is it allows some needed rest for players who are banged up, but there is no correlation good or bad. If anything in a game like this Buffalo probably has more of the edge given the loss last week and desperation setting in. -
Week 10, Broncos v. Bills - Predict the Score
corta765 replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
I will add that bye weeks while good for teams rest don't really show an impact on W/L. I think DEN defense is decent and Wilson actually has not been bad this year so hopefully the secondary can get healthy and the pass rush does its job a bit.
