Draft Position: After this weekend's win over the Lions the Bills fell down to 10th overall in the draft. The Bills are at least guaranteed a top-15 draft pick at this point. It is not impossible that the Bills could get back up to #5 although it would require a lot of luck by other teams losing wise. In my opinion I actually would rather draft around 9-14ish because with the way mock drafts are falling the Bills would be able to pick a WR without over drafting. If they are top 5 they truthfully need to pick BPA which would be defense. Schedule: Currently the Bills schedule is set with the team facing the AFC North and NFC East. The two games subject to change are their crossover games against the AFC South and AFC West which are based off of what place you finish in division. If the season ended today Buffalo would be at Tennessee and home against Denver. The Denver game is a lock at this point, but the Titans game could switch with the Colts depending on how those two finish the season. The Texans are impossible to face because they are at 10 wins and only one of the Colts or Titans can get to 10 wins. For those of you who like 1:00 pm games it is highly doubtful the Bills play any minus perhaps the Broncos home game with all of their away games eastern time zone minus Dallas which would be the only other game perhaps at 4:00pm. For those who care about primetime games the last time the Bills played this grouping of teams they played on MNF against NE, TNF against NYJ, and the London disaster against JAX. At this point I could see the Bills playing at the Browns getting on Thursday Night Football given Mayfield v. Allen is a nice selling point. If the Bills were to get a home game it would be MNF and my guess would be the Pats/Jets/Eagles given the market sizes they could tap, but I am pessimistic Buffalo get's more then one night game next season. This post lacks an incredible amount of insight and analysis. Rosen is playing with four OL out for the year in a system that does not take advantage of Rosen's greatest strengths. His top young WR who he had built chemistry with (Christian Kirk) is out for the season with injury. The Cardinals defense is near the bottom 3rd in the league, the Bills is second overall total yardage. Just about everything that could set a QB up for failure is present for Rosen. For as bad as the Bills offense has been, Arizona is 700 yards worse. Rosen certainly has his issues, but no QB is going to succeed in that environment and with the beating he has taken I would argue he already is behind in progress because that enforces bad habits which are hard to break. Say what you want about Beane and McD, but they smartly hired an OC who is trying to maxmize Allen's best qualities and give him time despite a pours O-Line. It took Beane some time but Foster and McKenzie have helped to give the offense some speed which Allen needed to progress. Rosen has none of that support outside of a good leader in Larry Fitzgerald who teams can double and that is that. I know fans hate hearing that situation matters for QB tremendously in determining their success but it is the truth. Their HC Wilks as it was is a defensive guy and he hired a retread OC in McCoy which expect-idly blew up in his face. If I was the AZ GM/HC I would've hired a progressive OC mind who would have used a West Coast style system that maximized Rosen's accuracy and quick decision making. If they keep Wilks I think Rosen is destined to fail. The Cardinals face a filled buyers market with far better situations for WR and OL FA's to sign with including Buffalo. They need to find an incredibly hot and progressive name to save this ship before the kid is killed.

Of all of the FA's he actually is #1 on my board. There most likely will not be a great WR available and if Tate does come available it will be a crazy bidding war. Plus I think the draft in round 1 or 2 you can get an impact WR. Saffold would do well with Teller & Dawkins and your down to 2 holes on O-line which isn't nearly as bad. Dude this reality not Madden and if were in Madden are you playing on rookie because that would be an insane offseason lol But for real Daryl Williams has been mentioned and would be a solid RT pickup. Anthony Barr I'd like also and I could see.

Allen certainly has had his moments and seems to have already progressed from completely raw rookie to rookie with some things figured out and a lot of room to grow. But that is not a precusor or guarantee either. QB's in the NFL need 2 years to gave a true judgement unless they tirefire out the way EJ did. I would not say that Rosen has been a tirefire he just hasn't been good and is in a pretty poor situation. I don't disagree that Cards fans are probably gritting their teeth a little, but that offensive line is a firing squad for the QB and they don't scheme to give him a chance. The Bills offense is not much more talented but at least Daboll tries to put his guy in a position to have a chance a lot. That is not being done in AZ.

Today's society is beyond impatient and this ^ is spot on. After the first 5 games of Allen people said he was a bust now they say he is progressing nicely and could be a real home run. The truth is judging players take time and you will not see instant gratification with many guys. The last two offseasons people said Goff was a bust and Trubisky was toast. Goff has turned into a very strong starter and Trubisky looks competent to be a potentially good starter for a decade.

The other thing is this offseason Arizona is going to be competing against BUF/NYJ for line help and weapons. If you are a free agent do you want to play with the guy who was killed all season in the desert that has virtually no weapons or go to BUF/NYJ where both have young QB's that have shown some real promise at points that have some pieces on offense that you can join not be the only piece. If I was a Cards fan I would be incredibly worried. BUF/NYJ could both mimic the Rams/Bears given each have a bit to work with on offense, I would not have much faith with the GM issues, coach uncertainty, and overall lack of talent across the board that my team can fix that much.

Oh def not denying he has been thrown to the slaughter which is also why I would have some buyers remorse if I was AZ. QB's get ruined getting hit that much and you need to have a pretty progressive scheme to make up for line deficiencies if your QB is to have any hope. Zona has neither there whereas at least Daboll tries to scheme despite his issues which has bought Allen time at points. The other thing is Allen is big you know what size wise and can take hits more then Rosen who has shown some injury issues in the past. Still a ton of time for Rosen and a lot can change over an offseason, but that looks like a really bad fit unless they switch coach and OC this offseason because he will die again next year.

Agreed with this. Rosen has yet to have a breakout moment and is in by far the worst support system of all of them. Every other QB I could list a game or two (if not more) where they lit it up for a bit or elevated their play where they dominated, I haven't seen that from Josh and I wanted him. Part of the problem is their offensive scheme was garbage and even with Larry they lack playmakers minus Christian Kirk who is injured or David Johnson who is improperly used. Rosen is going to lose Fitzgerald possibly this offseason and if they do not fire the coach I don't have much faith he will amount to much.

Truthfully the Lions are their own level of ineptitude and awfulness. Consider this: The Lions have won a single playoff game since 1957. Literally one game. One. By comparison every single team in the NFL has won at least two games since 1988 including expansion teams like the Titans, Jaguars, and Panthers People like to throw the Browns into the conversation but remember the Browns from the 1960s-1980s were one of the NFLs premiere teams despite not have a SB ring. They went to three AFC title games in the mid 1980's and prior to the year of moving made the playoffs and actually beat the Patriots of all teams with Belichek really throwing off the cosmos They have hosted exactly two home playoff games since 1957 with their last being in 1993. By comparison even the lowly Arizona Cardinals hosted more home games in their two years of playoff appearances with Kurt Warner then the Lions. Literally the best RB of his time retired in his prime because of their ineptitude in an era where football was exploding with money for players. A decade later one of the best WR's ever did the same despite every luxury available to players. I can't even think of a team that has had one player example retire like this let alone two If the Browns beat the Lions to hosting a playoff game first they will have literally moved, came back, and hosted a game before Detroit The Matt Stafford "era" is actually the second most successful since the SB era began. Only the 1990's period saw more playoff games and success. The Lions are one of four teams to never appear in a SB (Browns, Jaguars, & Texans). Of those two are expansion teams and technically Cleveland's original franchise now the Ravens have won two Superbowls The Lions have exactly six players who have made the HOF post merger era. One of those is DT Curley Culpy who played exactly two seasons with the Lions (1980-81). The Browns are close with just eight players in but remember the move completely sabotaged their history and teams future for a decade plus. They have had three different stretches of playoff droughts lasting over 10 years Those are just the big stats that most diehard Lions/NFL fans can tell you. The team truly is an insane picture of mediocrity. Even the Arizona Cardinals who are actually their closest competition for being awful have managed to right the ship for the past decade and make a SB plus play in an NFC title game. My understanding from Lions fans is the Ford family is very hands on but weirdly cheap when it comes to spending at points. Their finger prints are all over the issues the team has had and only the recent take over by Martha Ford and appointment of Bob Quinn as GM has represented some true changing of the deck. The Lions every year with Stafford just seem like a team that's 60% built but always have leaks springing and not enough talent to compensate. The Bills seem in a different stratosphere after reading this.

I have a buddy who is a big Vikings fan and said talk has already started of cutting him in two seasons because his cap drops. I thought it was kind of nuts but after watching last night I get it. The guy is like Matt Stafford 2.0 great stats but come clutch time he cannot do enough.

Agreed. The FG attempt from 55 was playing scared, the conservativeness of the offense was scared, the lack of aggression from the defense was not to lose, etc.. I really hated the fact after two weeks of being aggressive and attacking they played not to lose and it bit them in the butt.

I remember that one. I think the Bills got off like an 80 yard punt thanks to wind and roll. Yea that game was so disappointing. The only reason I wouldn't say worst in a decade is Darues was out in the 2nd half along with I think Manny Lawson and one other player. The defense legitimately lost some teeth and the Raiders took advantage enough.

After yesterday's disaster of a loss that made you want to go crazy I wanted to do a therapeutic look at other times we have collapsed brilliantly. The Bills have created an incredible habit of losing games in late November/December that are utterly soul crushing, frustrating to the point you want to throw your TV, OR both at the same point. Here is a fun recap of some tremendous losses going back to 2010: Nov 28th 2010: Steelers 19-16 OT over Bills. The famous Stevie "Why God" Drop game that I am still seeing a therapist to this day about. Seriously it was awful. Nov 27th 2011: Jets 28-24 over Bills. Stevie drop 2.0 as Fitz hits him in the hands in a must win game to keep their playoff chances alive and he drops it. Also was the game he got a 15 yard PF for being a Jet and crashing Jan 1st 2011: Pats 49-21 over Bills. Buffalo race out to a 21-0 lead over their hated rivals giving Bills fans some comfort to finally beat NE hard in their own building...Only to only 49 unanswered points. This wasn't madding as much as just pure embarrassing. Dec 9th 2012: Rams 15-12 over Bills. Similar to the previous two weeks the Bills hold a slim lead and the defense blows it after playing shutdown throughout the game. In this game Buffalo had slim playoff hopes if they won and allowed Sam Bradford who went just 19/39 to go 84 yards after holding the Rams all day to win. The Bills preceded to get blown out by Seattle the next week up in Seattle effectively ending Chan Gailey's coaching tenure. Dec 1st 2013: Falcons 34-31 OT over Bills. The last game mercifully in the Toronto series ends in utter heartache making you want to throw you TV after the Bills blow a 14-0 lead, 31-24 lead in the 4th, Stevie Johnson fumbles on the game winning drive on the ATL 30 when they were in FG range with 28 seconds left tied, and then Scott Chandler fumbles on the second play of overtime at mid field to give ATL the ball who scores on a FG. The definition of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Dec 21st 2014: Raiders 26-24 over Bills . A week after a massive upset of the Packers to go to 8-6 and be solid positioning for the playoffs the Bills lose to a crappy Raiders team in Oakland. The Bills defense got hit with injuries, but the game swinging play happens on 3rd & 22 at Oakland's 19 when Corey Graham goes for the INT instead of batting the ball away from recent Bills Andre Holmes who gets a 51 yard completion and putting the Raiders in FG range. The Bills can't stop the Raiders who score a TD ending the Bills playoff hopes. This was a massive let down after such a huge high the week before. Nov 29th 2015: Chiefs 30-22 over Bills. The Jaguar game early the season was worse but this game was also pretty bad and fits the criteria. Buffalo blows a 10-0 lead and 16-7 lead in the first half to fall behind 24-16 in the 3rd. The Bills offense after lighting it up with Sammy Watkins in the 1st half stops for some reason throwing to him and the Bills defense can't stop a beachball allowing 7 consecutive drives where the Chiefs score or miss a FG after the Bills go up 10-0. Dec 13th 2015: Eagles 23-20 over Bills . Bills playoff chances die despite out-gaining the Eagles 412-348 and controlling the clock for nearly 10 mins more. Buffalo was the better team but like yesterday too many mistakes kill them. Dec 24th 2016: Dolphins 34-31 OT over Bills. The famous Rex punt game which the Bills had to win to keep their playoff chances alive. This ruined Xmas eve for many families as the Bills punt on 4th and 2 on at mid field and then allow J. Ajayi to go 57 yards with just 10 men on the field. Making things even worse before this the Bills rallied hard after being down 14-0 and take the lead 31-28 with only 1:20 left when Miami's Andrew Franks hits a 55 yard FG in the weather. Two Dan Carpenter FG's cost the Bills a chance for victory. Editors Note **2017 the Bills somehow make the playoffs and win all of these insanely close games that make you pull your hair out. That happened** 2018: Back to back weeks the offense gives the defense the lead and the defense blows it. Take you pick for which was more frustrating, for me the Jets was worse because of how long the team had the lead and the fact the defense wilted so badly in the clutch.

My wife and I went to school at SUNY Oswego. We met alottttt of Jets fans and their arrogance made them top 3 in my hated teams list only behind Pittsburgh & New England. I am fine with them suffering in misery forever.

I have no sympathy. You have went to a Superbowl 3x in the last two decades or so. You've had two of the best QBs ever and with Rodgers managed to waste a portion of his prime. Overall fans of any other team would die to have a quarter of what packer fans have had for over two decades running. Now football wise? McCarthy didn't seem to have the stuff anymore and I think his message got stale. The team has too many high priced vets like Cobb and Matthews that don't make enough of impact worth keeping. The Packers remind me of the Saints during that period they went 7-9 for a bit where they had to retool in a bunch of places on defense and refit the offense. I think the Packers have more pieces and they have a better cap situation then the Saints did so they should be able to turn it faster. The bigger issue could be the Pack didn't take advantage when the Bears and Vikings were down during the early to mid 2010's. Both team are ready to win now with ferocious defenses designed to slow offense like GB. All of that said the Packers should have the ability to comeback hard next year in my eyes and anything less then one more SB appearance for Rodgers with the Pack seems like a failure during his end here.

This is a pretty misguided post. Atlanta has a down year because the defense literally lost half their secondary and their best linebacker plus a few other injuries. Quinn at minimum has one more season for sure if not more. They have a lot of talent and their going to add a bluechip pass rusher this draft. If anything Atlanta is just stocking up. I'd love Julio but trading one of your best players who helps make that offense go is just not happening.

Yep BPA. If it turns out Ed Oliver is there and we are at 10 fine take him or if someone else wants him take the picks and run. The last two drafts the Bills have got starters on the following so I trust their drafting: 2017: Tre White, Zay Jones, Dawkins, & Milano 2018 Edmunds, Teller, Allen, & T. Johnson I'd like to see what they could do with a few second and thirds instead of trading them.

Love the hope and enthusiasm this would be great. That said even if he has a 10-12 year run where his ceiling is Flacco/Alex Smith esq he will most likely break Kelly's records given how the league is so passing driven. Remember Jim back in the day topped out around 23-25 TD's thrown with one season at 33 TDs. For that time it was impressive, today that is basically average for a QB so if Allen even has two seasons at 30 TDs or above he will move pretty quick towards Jim. Plus Jim had 3 years in the USFL that took away probably 40-45 TDs he would've got in the NFL. I think Jim himself would love to be the second best Bills QB and in the end the records Allen truly will be judged on will be Wins, playoffs, and hopefully the SB. A SB title mixed with even Flacco/Smith numbers and he'd be a god regardless.

Yea its kinda funny that it took until mid season for the team to add Anderson/Barkley, Foster, McKenzie, and start Teller at G. But all of those things really seemed to help the offense settle down. I am very nervous with Bodine out though about the line. They had stabilized to not being atrocious and I thought Bodine actually had been pretty decent. Groy has not done well this year and Siriles was rated atrocious by PFF in place of Miller. Need to hope the last bunch of games the line can hold itself to not implode.
