  1. Man, there is already a thread on this - but I am really feelin' it this year. I feel like we finally have the kind of defense you need to win a title.
  2. I like that we have the Eagles last. Possible that they're resting their starters by then (and maybe us too if all goes well).
  3. I don't mind Cincy in the opener. They seem to always start slow.
  4. I think there is a pretty good shot we have the best team this year, and probably for the 1st time in the JA era. I love how they went after improving the D this offseason. I think it will be a top D, and that is what we need to put us over the top. But there are if's and caveats and variables. Will Bosa get back to some of his old form? Will Coleman & Kincaid take the proverbial "next step"? How good can Palmer be w/ Josh? And the biggest - can we stay relatively healthy? Last season was probably as healthy as we've been entering the playoffs. Here's hoping we can be saying that or something close to it about the upcoming year....
  5. I was at the Yankees game yesterday. The moment the Knicks won, the crowd went absolutely wild. Man, if the Knicks could really pull it off, what an upset that would be....
  6. How does it put him in an uncomfortable situation? He knows he is marrying an ACTRESS. They act. It's what they do. Josh just doesn't strike me as someone who would be remotely insecure about that. I bet he loved the movie. It's probably going to be the biggest movie of the year.
  7. Man, I hope so. I really need to get on w/ my life at some point. I just saw her movie today. It was a really great, fun movie - she's an excellent actress. I'd be way more worried about Josh if he didn't realize what he signed up for when he got engaged to someone in the acting profession.
  8. We need our Crosby. We need a disruptor. The guys we've drafted on D are all "pretty good." We need someone who can take over a game on that side of the ball. Here's hoping.
  9. Defenses can dictate championship games much more than offenses, imo. And we see that in so many title games. When you have a smothering defense, it creates much better opportunities for the offense - better field position, turnovers, TOP. I disagreed w/ most of the hand-wringing about WR during the draft. Let's build that defense to be smothering and dictate the big games. JA will put up points w/ just about anyone.
  10. I'm so glad that we lost that game. The Pats having to settle for the 4th pick was pretty huge given the nature of the talent in this past draft. I think they had a great offseason - but I'm still not that worried about them. A lot for them depends on if Vrabel & Maye are both as good as they've been hyped to be. Personally, I think both have been a bit overhyped to this point.
  11. I think a healthy Samuel being better is a given. Kincaid is the big question mark. I mean, we've kind of seen it - but it hasn't translated. There are always midseason trades!
  12. I'd put us around the 18-22 range. Obviously not great, but far from the worst. And fine w/ a great running game and top tier D.
  13. That, to me, is a very mid WR corps. And by mid, I mean middle of the pack in the NFL - which is very good w/ me if we're building a true top-tier defense. Nowhere near the worst in the league, as has been discussed here.
  14. We should have 5 for sure - and he's a good 5th.
  15. Not sure what the point is here - but Moore can add something to this offense that we do NOT have, and we needed another capable receiver.
  16. This is a very good signing for us.
  17. Alright, I went a little overboard. I was thinking more "generally" - there are weeks were even the top receivers only get 2-3 catches, and there are often a few games missed.
  18. So much rests on Coleman, imo. I feel like Samuel will have a much better season if he's healthy and he & Palmer can be the good 3rd & 4th options we need. Shakir is ever-reliable. I don't think Coleman will be elite, but he showed some flashes before he was hurt last year of having a decently high ceiling. He needs to become that 6-8 catch per week guy. Here's hoping.
  19. I'd love to see a more comprehensive analysis - which is probably hard to come by without a lot of research. The conclusion that it doesn't matter for a WR who his QB is seems to fly in the face of logic. But your posts are working. I promise not to get too hopeful if we sign this guy.
  20. On what are you basing the bolded?
  21. I voted WR - but I wouldn't say we're "weak" at WR. I think that just speaks to how strong we are in other units. I debated safety, but I have a good enough feeling about Bishop having a good year that we should be solid there. I think there are more variables in the passing game - can Coleman or Kincaid take a big step forward? Was Samuel's disappointing season last year largely due to injury? Can Palmer excel w/ Allen throwing to him? A lot of that stuff could pan out too - but right now there is just more uncertainty around WR than safety.
  22. Great write-up. I loved this draft, and the emphasis on defense. I really don't want to pull my hair out anymore in the 4th quarter of playoff games.
  23. Good homework! Can't imagine how much time that took. Are you just trying to convince us to not get excited about anything again?
  24. Watching highlights - he's good after contact. Breaks tackles & fights for extra yards. I agree that he's not a huge needle-mover, but we need one more guy and he'd at least be more of a deep threat than what we have.
  25. Of course, he's right. For starters - some of the criticism re: not going for a receiver in the mid-rounds is mystifying. This was a weak WR draft - unless we went 1st or 2nd round again, it's extremely unlikely that we'd get anyone better than what we have right now. Even a "speed" guy would have minimal impact - we weren't getting a WR 2 or 3 in those rounds. But beyond that - the offense has rarely been the issue. As he said, we are often one of the league leaders in scoring. I'm thrilled w/ how the draft went, and their strategy. Seems like every guy we got in the 1st 4 rounds was projected higher, and they could all have an immediate impact. We won't know until the playoffs - but for once, it would be nice if the D didn't let us down, and could actually control a game.
