I think "knowing the system" is irrationally high on the priority list when they're looking to add players.

Not a bad point. The O should be able to put up 20 once in awhile and not have it be an automatic loss.

Huh?

The tape is certainly out there now on defending Maye when he rolls right (something we didn't really adjust to). It's where he has his most effectiveness. I think he's a really good QB - but our D just made him look a level better than he is right now.

Have we even thrown a deep ball this season? I know we have some 20+, but I haven't seen any plays that really stretch the field beyond that. And we have the best deep thrower in the business. I really have a love/hate w/ this team.

I don't know if it's familiarity, sentimentality, or something else - but it's clear at this point that they have a level of comfort w/ players they know over potentially more talented players who they don't know. It's pretty weak.

Ridiculous stat that sums up the secondary play

I thought Strong played really well in the time he's had on the field. Did we ever get any details on what's going on w/ him or a timeline for return? We might end up needing both him & Hairston by the end of the season. When the season started, I thought our CB situation was much better than it actually is. -
What a move this would be. Instant massive upgrade, where we need it the most.

Just saw a Pats fan online call us a "loser fanbase" for complaining about the officiating after seeing this thread. And he/she then proceeded to complain about the lack of holding calls on our O-line against Barmore. Pats fans can be cartoons sometimes.

For all you McDermott haters, who would you want? (Now a poll)

We're in a tough situation. Josh Allen is so good that he'll probably always carry us to the divisional round at minimum - but the roster & coaching isn't enough to get us to a title without "more than the usual" kind of luck. The division race is going to be tight this year. If we don't win it - would they see that as a reason to make a change? Or if we bow out in the divisional again? Josh is going to be 30. I feel unappreciative, because both Beane & McDermott are partly responsible for the change in our fortunes. But if we can't capitalize on this year, when the AFC is weak - it's a real indicator. And you can't wait until Josh is 32 or 33. Now is really the time. -
Probably the last thing on my mind about the game. If we can't overcome a 1st half fumble in the red zone against an inferior team, we have no business talking about a Super Bowl. That was probably #20 on the list of reasons why we lost (a.k.a. gave that game away).

I don't hate him, but I'm tired. I'll go w/ "anyone available." I think we're at that point in franchise's trajectory where we just need a change. He's a defensive coach, and our defense is our weak unit. -
Sometimes, getting a title is all about being resilient. I like their chances of pushing it to a game 5 w/ Rodon and then Schlittler, at home. Right now, it's about just getting it to game 5.

My god, do you hear that? It’s Gabe Davis’ music!

I'm guilty. I always think he's done a "good job." But we have so many players who are just capable. The lack of star talent gets more glaring every year. -

I think the most disappointing thing is the realization that we're likely not going to have the same kind of lopsided record against the Pats that they had against us w/ Brady. I can see them being a split a lot of the years moving forward. They're more competitive than we were during the drought. It's kind of a silly, minor thing - just wanting to "even things up." But I can be petty. -
They definitely have their guy for a good while. I just haven't seen enough to match the hype he's getting. He's top 15, maybe even top 10. Will he get to top 5? Hard to predict, but my guess is that he doesn't get to the top tier.

Feel terrible for Gibson, but not recovering that fumble was a biggie. The Patriots player was just in the exact right spot.
