  1. I was never a country guy, but always loved Steve Earle. Just discovered Margo Price, also.
  2. The timing might actually be good, in a weird way. Pats are still at the top of their game- challenging for the division this year was always a long shot. I say Brady has 2 more good years. Just a hunch. By then, Allen will hopefully have worked through a lot of the learning curve, and we’ll have a few more good drafts under our belt. It’s strange to think that the AFCE could be up for grabs again. Hopefully we’ll be ready when it is.
  3. I guess my top moment would be watching Michael Irvin do his touchdown dance in the booth with Jerry Jones after we somehow lost after getting 5 picks. Or was it 6?
  4. There is a huge difference between older and younger Pats fans, and among Boston fans in general. Except for the Celtics, that town was basically Loserville for a century. Fans there were much like us - they had “what’s been the most painful moment” or “worst loss” discussions, and lots of talk about curses. Even today, some of those older fans have a knee-jerk expectation that their teams will find a way to pull defeat from the jaws of victory. I saw it in twitter when Sanchez almost hit a grand slam to win game 4 for the Yankees. I’m happy for those fans. It’s what I hope for us someday. Young fans there are in a whole different reality. I’m sure some understand their good fortune and will have good perspective when they decline. But quite a few others will find it challenging. They seem to think it’s something in the water there or something.
  5. I can’t believe he went for 2 there....
  6. Of course - but I still don’t envy it. I know some fans there, and they are different people now, especially during the season. ”Insufferably smug” is just never a quality that I’ll value...
  7. I’d rather be a Bills fan - especially compared to any Pats fan under 30. That latter group is just weird, imo. All they know is winning. It sounds great, especially to us, but they’ll never know or understand that feeling of ending a drought or overcoming years of adversity. It’s really the opposite for them - they’ll have to adjust to a post-Brady reality that will pale in comparison to what they’ve known. Can’t wait.
  8. I feel like the days of dreading these games is coming to an end. Just not this year. It’s close, though.
  9. I remember when McD was hired - the one thing I really liked reading about him was that he was a workaholic. Sometimes slept at the office because he worked so late - stuff like that. While not a great quality to have in general, I think a head coach has to be obsessed & relentless. Now, it just seems like he’s in over his head. He may work hard, but maybe he’s so immersed in the details that he misses the basics. WAY too many times, this team seems completely unprepared, and it’s hard to discern what their game plan might have been before it all unraveled. And the lack of discipline is worse than Rex’s team. One untimely penalty after another. Anyway, good write up. This really isn’t fun or even funny anymore.
  10. The defensive side of the ball is actually pretty loaded - a lot of young guys, too. We’re only behind the league on offense - way behind.
  11. KC’s offense is really fun to watch. I was trying to think the last time we had an offense like that - it’s been a long time. Fitz had a few games, but you really have to go back to Bledsoe, Moulds and Price
  12. Let’s not overreact. Obviously, it’s likely that we lose - but we have played more close games than blowouts against that team over the years, and often had surprisingly competitive outings when things looked bleak going in. Division games are usually tougher for the Pats, and while they seem to have righted the ship, they also have some real vulnerabilities this year. As usual, the pass rush has to get to Brady. He is making more mistakes this season - a few turnovers, keep it close, get the home crowd rockin’...anything can happen.
  13. We should have drafted Brady, too...
  14. I hate this game already, because I know in a week I’ll be telling myself arguments like the one above, and the whole “division opponent” who we can play tough once in awhile thing, and having some hope.
  15. No fan in sports should have to go through this kind of thing, year after year. It’s taking a toll.
  16. Everything really rides in Allen. They have the capital to build a team around him, and a good start with a group of young players who show a ton of promise. No pressure, kid.
  17. We’ll see how it works out. Maybe they don’t know what they’re doing. I’m also a baseball fan, and I think baseball fans are more used to the concept of sucking to eventually be good.
  18. I shouldn’t judge it. Fans here have every right to be as frustrated as they are. But as I just posted on another thread, I have to believe this was the plan. We’re in a full-fledged rebuild. They’re not fun.
  19. Good post. It’s so hard for fans of this team, including me, to accept an all-in rebuild after all we have been through. But that’s what this is, and it’s by design. Everything is set up for this offseason. They have to make all the right moves. But I have to believe better days lie ahead.
  20. That one must have really stuck to you this week. That’s an A-1 post disaster thread bump. Glad today was a positive for a few fans.
  21. It’s mental. They left their hearts in the field last week, only to have the offense stomp on them. They started hot today - but as soon as the offense showed they’d to it again, they folded. It’s hard to blame them.
  22. It’s becoming hip. I’m seeing it in the street. Kids are latching into the whole “loser chic” thing...
  23. Can’t the NFL have some friggin’ humanity and set one year where we don’t have to play that team?
  24. I’ll watch every game until I wake up in Elysium. And hope.
