Super Bowl Pregame Thread: KC vs SF
Success replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
SF will never have a lead that is safe, even w/ that D. If KC gets a 2 score lead, it's a different story - I don't think the Niners will fare well if they have to come back & put the game on Jimmy's arm. I think that will be how it will play out, too. Reid has really been focusing on getting KC off to a quicker start. I don't think the game will be all that close. Regardless, it's kind of a joyous thing to wake up and not worry about the Patriots playing. It's been said a million times this week, but their absence is glorious. -

No carbs, no sugar, low cholesterol, lots of leafy greens. Yeah, I’m getting older. -
Super Bowl Pregame Thread: KC vs SF

It’s a testament to how scarred I am by that team that my rooting interest is based on what will tick that fan base off the most. After careful study, there are some Pats fans who don’t want the Niners to match their ring total of 6, but by far the sentiment is more anti-KC (for some slight that I still don’t really understand, and because Chiefs fans are “insufferable”. And they say that without irony). So, go Chiefs! -
Man, that's so dramatic. Poor millionaire. Kind of bums me out. I wasn't one of those fans who was upset w/ Sammy - he got traded, and I thought he played hard while he was here (and I don't hold players responsible for how much the Bills paid or gave up for them). I was pulling for him in the playoffs, and was happy to see him have a big game in the AFCCG. Not really as excited to see him do well, now. This comment was unnecessary & pretty overwrought.

I certainly didn't think much of him in that 1st SB. He had 1 TD, and basically 2 good passes - the one TD, and the one on the GW FG drive when Madden thought they'd take a knee and play for overtime. Had the greatest show on turf showed up, that game would have been a blowout. I wonder if/how that would have affected Brady's future. Probably not much since he's so driven, but one can dream. It's funny reading the Pats boards right now. They realize it's ending, and the most common sentiment is that it's perfect timing, because "all they have to do" is figure out some way to get Lawrence next year, either by tanking or getting a team in the top draft position to trade w/ them. They have no idea how hard it is to get a decent QB. It could be fun to watch in the next few years.

It is SO over, Johnny. I know we're all conditioned w/ the "I'll believe it when I see it," but the Pats are having a terrible offseason, and a declining Brady is going to be 43 - if he even returns to that team. Laugh, call me a crazy dreamer - the Patriots will finish 3rd in the AFC East next year. Oh, how the turntables.

First weekend without real football: what will you watch?

They show Harry Potter every weekend now. I’ll probably go with that, and imagine that the Potter side is the Bills and Voldemort’s crew are the Pats. -

I’m surprised at some of the casual comments about losing Shaq. He was a force this year - relentless at times. Of all 4, he’d be my priority. -

I like Jimmy G, and he has played well overall. But he basically took this game off, and the 2nd half of the previous game. If he's playing from behind & has to lead an offense in the biggest game of the year, it could be asking a lot. It should be a great SB, though. Good matchups top to bottom. -

I’ll take KC. Not sure how SF will be if Jimmy has to pass more than 10 times. -

Sammy! He's the leading receiver today. Pretty cool - I know some fans here don't like him, but I always root for him. He didn't do anything to us... -

Reid is a top coach in this league, and has been for a long, long time. It bothers me that he has become a punchline in some circles - winning a championship takes a certain amount of luck, and he simply hasn't had that. If the Chiefs win this year, I'll celebrate that monkey getting off of his back. -

I wonder how close he was to Vrabel. Titans are really the perfect team for him in his last years - he could probably get another ring there. -

The Chiefs are a total video game. Fun team to watch, incredibly tough to beat. They can score in batches, quickly. Could be their year. Whoever wins the NFC, it promises to be a very good SB.
