2021 NFL Draft Round 1 talk - Official thread
Success replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LOL - Pats fans now saying that they got the guy that was "supposed to go 3rd." Like that smokescreen was EVER gonna happen. -

He had 2 of the best 3 receivers in college football, and the best line. He seems nice, though. It's too bad I have to now dislike him. -

I'd like to congratulate the New England Patriots for investing the next 2-3 years into the 5th best QB of the 2021 draft. -

Looks like Mac was just getting the call. I'm good w/ it. Better than them getting Fields, Garrop or Rodgers. -

Such a meltdown on the Pats boards. No Fields, no Parsons. Mac Jones isn't getting much enthusiasm. -
Yay. Another great QB in the AFC.

Patriots making an "aggressive push" for, Jaylen Waddle???
Success replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Remember when they used to win the division? Seems like ages ago. -
The Pats are literally involved in every QB rumor out there. Whatever they do, it will be hailed as "genius" - but I think they're just starting a long search for Brady's replacement. Most of my enjoyment of football comes from the Bills - but I'll be happy watching them try one QB after another & never find "the guy".

As usual, I'm ready for anything. It's always better to not have set expectations on draft day, and just roll w/ it. That said, I'll probably be a bit more excited if they go pass rush in the 1st. I'd really like to see them snag an impact player at that position, given some of our aging vets in that group.

For the first time in decades, it doesn't seem very consequential. I'm watching the other teams jockey for position in the top 10 to try to get a QB, and it's so much deja vu. I'm so glad we're not there anymore, or in a place where we have huge holes to fill elsewhere. Obviously, we want to get some great players, but it's just not nearly as vital. I'm almost more interested this time to see what other teams will do.

Do you trust this Front Office?
Success replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
100%. They have earned our trust as fans, repeatedly. Perhaps not the appropriate thread to say this, but a pet peeve of mine is when they make a pick, and the board erupts with comments of "they should have picked this guy!" or "I had the guy they picked a full round down!" I always wonder what they're basing it on. I'm sure there are a few who genuinely study the college game, but even those put nowhere near the level of time in that scouts do. And then most others are just going by mocks they've seen online. -
Diggs played with torn oblique in playoffs?
Success replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That and the refs inexplicably letting KC's DB's hold on every play really changed the outcome of the AFCCG. We were a better offense than we showed that day. Very out of character, and made a middlin' defense look like a world beater. Looking forward to the rematch. -

Man, it's great to see "QB" as the top draft priority for the Pats. Here's hoping that they're just beginning a fruitless 2-3 decade search for Brady's replacement. -
Excellent argument AGAINST drafting a 1st Round RB
Success replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
RB's have been steadily losing 1st round value for a reason. I think most teams are starting to realize that - unless it's a generational type of talent - it's better to just improve the run blocking. I'd be shocked if the Bills went RB after picking up Breida. I think their plan is to use the backs we have & just try to improve the line & blocking schemes. -
The end of excuses for defensive draft picks
Success replied to Playoff Win's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was ready to be upset about this post based only on the title - but the content of the OP is fair. Fortunately, I expect most if not all of those guys to come through this season. If they all take the step that we'd expect, our defensive worries will be reduced significantly. We could be looking at a pretty young, pretty impactful defense. Which would really make me start think Beane is truly a genius. -
Who are the 49er's going to take at 3
Success replied to wagne591's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't see anything through all of the smoke - but I'd have to guess Fields. It just seems weird that he'd drop from being "maybe better than Lawrence" to 4th QB in the draft (or 5th). -
SI: The Unrivaled Arrival of Trevor Lawrence
Success replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brady has set too high a bar for being psychotic about winning and carrying an oversized chip on your shoulder for decades. Is he really that laid back? Do you always have to wear the competition gene on your sleeve? How many national championships has he won again? He'll be fine. -
Dolphins Fan Take - Morning JA Discussion At Work
Success replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The phrase I see most often on other message boards is "I'm still not sold on Allen." I just kind of smile. I've seen enough, as I think most here have. I think those saying that haven't really watched the games. And I think that's just an instinct of opposing fans. I spent 10 years of Brady's career trying to marginalize him as a dink-and-dunk system QB. Oops. -
100%. As soon as they picked up Breida, that was out (imo). I don't think they've given up on Singletary the way many fans have. He still brings a great skillset if used properly. I think instead of having one bruising, 30-carry a game back, they're planning on using Moss, Breida and Singletary in various combinations and situations, almost equally.

They always show that dude who gets covered w/ mustard, too. I agree it's not a great overall look. At the same time, Bills fans do have some real notoriety around the league now. I've heard a lot of opposing fans say things about how dedicated Bills fans are and how we're one of the best fanbases, and I think some of the stuff that I don't necessarily like (tables, mustard) plays into that. It's the ol' yin and yang. Without a doubt, the Bills fanbase has a real identity nationally, and you can't really say that about too many other fanbases. Still, I wish I could take my kids to games without worrying about some of the more ridiculous stuff that goes on. Booze & sports are fun to a point - but things get ugly pretty quick in a losing game if people have had too much to drink.

A couple of things here: - Your comment about "almost losing" is one I've heard Pats fans repeat countless times since that game. They lost. Cam fumbled, but Davis also dropped a fairly easy TD for the Bills in the previous drive. That's how games go, especially division games. The Patriots lost, and got swept last season. - The Bills had more games like that than I'd care to count against the Patriots during the 20-year run. It gave me no solace to say they "almost won." Watching a Pats fan go immediately to that is one of those "how the mighty have fallen" things. - The Pats had one of those wave-your-arms, "look-at-me!" offseasons that their fans used to mock other teams for. "Winning the offseason." Looking at it objectively, they significantly improved the TE position, but not much else. I'm much more concerned about the Dolphins. In short - nice run. Enjoy the DVD's.

What's the called again when you "almost lose"? Oh, yeah - winning.

I'm one of those "if you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all" guys. So, there ya go.
