The Falcons look tougher than I would have thought at the start of the season. Had we pulled out a close one over the Pats, I could see where this one might have been our 1st loss, being another night game on the road. I think losing a game like we just lost makes that much less likely (though not out of the realm). A good measure of a true contender is their ability to respond after a tough loss - showing resiliency. I have a lot of faith that we right the ship on Monday.

Beans and Sean - Should we miss the SB again

One way the org could keep McDermott (if we fall way short this year) & make the fanbase happy is to bring in a real DC, with his own schemes & strategies, and let him run w/ it. McD can be HC and set the overall gameplan & culture, but it wouldn't be his defense. -
I have to wash my hair.

We really missed Oliver this past week. It would be big if he was back for this next one. On an unrelated note - I forgot how quickly the national media can bail on you when you have a bad game. I've seen some already calling it a "passing of the torch" to the Pats. Would be cool to see them lose to the Saints & us win this one convincingly on Monday. If only to see the "analysts" do backflips frantically.

It bugs me to hear that it looked like we were just lazy in the 1st half. I have generally felt like this regime doesn't quite understand how important these New England games are to the fanbase.

I'm kind of opposite. I still think our personnel is better than what they show on the field. I think a top-tier DC could make this a top 10 defense w/ the players we have. The schemes & soft zone have always nagged at me. They just don't work against top QB's and teams, and we don't seem to make necessary changes. -
I think the Pats drop one of the next 3 "easy" ones they have. If not, they have turned a corner, and are a legit concern - though if we're healthy, I can't see us getting swept by them. They needed us to have a really bad, sloppy game w/ some weird reffing to pull it out this past weekend. I don't see that happening twice. But we'd have to basically keep pace w/ them otherwise, and we've got Chiefs & Eagles.

100%. And I'm very grateful to both guys. But we are treading water here, and Allen is on the cusp of 30. I hope that they don't even make this a consideration by at least getting this team to the SB this year. -
I think "knowing the system" is irrationally high on the priority list when they're looking to add players.

Not a bad point. The O should be able to put up 20 once in awhile and not have it be an automatic loss.

Huh?

The tape is certainly out there now on defending Maye when he rolls right (something we didn't really adjust to). It's where he has his most effectiveness. I think he's a really good QB - but our D just made him look a level better than he is right now.

Have we even thrown a deep ball this season? I know we have some 20+, but I haven't seen any plays that really stretch the field beyond that. And we have the best deep thrower in the business. I really have a love/hate w/ this team.

I don't know if it's familiarity, sentimentality, or something else - but it's clear at this point that they have a level of comfort w/ players they know over potentially more talented players who they don't know. It's pretty weak.

Ridiculous stat that sums up the secondary play
Success replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
I thought Strong played really well in the time he's had on the field. Did we ever get any details on what's going on w/ him or a timeline for return? We might end up needing both him & Hairston by the end of the season. When the season started, I thought our CB situation was much better than it actually is. -
What a move this would be. Instant massive upgrade, where we need it the most.

Just saw a Pats fan online call us a "loser fanbase" for complaining about the officiating after seeing this thread. And he/she then proceeded to complain about the lack of holding calls on our O-line against Barmore. Pats fans can be cartoons sometimes.

Probably the last thing on my mind about the game. If we can't overcome a 1st half fumble in the red zone against an inferior team, we have no business talking about a Super Bowl. That was probably #20 on the list of reasons why we lost (a.k.a. gave that game away).
