I think this season will be very telling. McD and Beane can make their own decision on Taylor. I think if anyone can put Taylor is a system that he can have success its Dennison. If the Bills offense is flat then I can see them going QB next year. I dont see the Bills making the playoffs but if Taylor has a good season, I see the Bills finding other key contributors in next years draft.
For a QB to have success it is a matter of talent, coaching, system, and surrounding cast. Just because Mahommes has success in KC doesnt mean he would have the same succes in San Fran or Cleveland.
I dont think the Bills should sign him to a big extension if he doesnt perform or cant stay healthy. I hope he is done with the injuries and has a monster season but time will tell.
I like Sammy but I would not have picked up the option either. Let him prove he can stay healthy and have a legit season before signing him to guarantees.
Why because he hired Rex? Some decisions dont work. Firing people while still having to pay them their contract or firing good people because the production is not there are not easy things to do.
I like the direction the Bills are headed. I think McD has the right approach to things and hopefully it pays off with making the franchise relevant. I like that Pegula is not afraid to make tough choices. He is a now severing ties with the previous Bills staff. A clean slate moving into the future. Will it pay off? who knows but at least he isnt sitting by allowing the status quo.
The Bills are no different than other teams in the NFL that do not make the playoffs. They change coaches and GM's until something works. I agree that I think McD seems to have a plan and it a no nonsense type of guy. We will see who takes over as GM.
I like Whaley and thought he did some good things but also made some mistakes. I wish him luck and think he will be a good Pro Personnel guy for another team
I was impressed with the draft. I especially liked the first round trade still getting a good CB and a first round pick next year. I cant way to see Zay Jones on the field.
I think getting rid of the entire scouting staff is a broad stroke. I am not sure how many NFL quality scouts are out there waiting for the phone to ring. I think Whaley has done some good things and made some mistakes. I think he should be able to get this season to see how his drafts pan out.
Watson and Tribusky may be first round prospects but they are not top ten prospects. In 2013 they may have been the first QB's selected but even last year they would not have been the first QB's off the board.
I understand people saying that the Bills could have used 2nd round tenders on both players so nobody would sign them to an offer sheet. That would have paid each player a mil more each season just so they are less attractive to other teams but at both times the Bills were not in great salary cap shape. The Bills and the salary cap management is a whole other story. The Bills assessed a value to each player and another team chose to pay them more.
I think most RB's can run well in the Bills run game. A year ago nobody cared about MG. MG had some good runs on his own but most of his runs, he ran through big holes.
Which team is going in that range is hurting at WR and is going to give up a first round pick for a WR that is coming off another surgery because he cant stay healthy?
