I was at the Cards game since my wife is a 49ers fan. Rosen did what needed to be done but most of the game he wasnt good. It was actually boring. On the drive before the Cards TD, the 49ers played it like the Bills...conservative and punt. The 49ers mostly played off the Cards WR's that whole TD drive. Sherman wasnt within 10 feet of his guy, keeping him in front of him. After the first two completions I told my wife the 49ers are going to lose because they are being too conservative. The Cards Oline played well on that drive and Rosen made completions to open WRs. It was a nice TD throw and it was the exact same route for the TD to Fitz in the back of the end zone. 49ers secondary is awful...including Sherman. All that said CJB was marching the 49ers to get close to field goal range. Kittle dropped a pass that would have put them close enough to try a long field goal. Then the bad snap and the rest is history.

Bronco's cut Chad Kelly
BillsfanAZ replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Do you know him personally? How do you get that perception from everything we have seen of him? For wanting to on the Bills he has a funny way of showing it. Another way of showing it would have been to work really hard, stay out of trouble, learn as much as he can so when he is a free agent he can see if the Bills have any interest in signing him. -
Media trying to get McDermott fired.
BillsfanAZ replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think McDermott will get longer than just 2019. Drafted players need to mature and produce. The right players have to be added by free agency. This cant be done in two offseasons. I think he gets through the 2020 season so he has a chance to get free agents and see what kind of players his draft picks turn into. Then if McD/Beane get fired it will be because Allen didnt develop and a new coach/GM can wipe the slate clean. -
It was reported he has zero alcohol in his system. I am wondering if Kelly admitted to the Broncos what he was on and they sent him packing. I am sure there was an NFL pee cup waiting for him. https://247sports.com/nfl/denver-broncos/Article/Very-disappointed-John-Elway-weighing-potential-release-of-Chad-Kelly-123710732/

Is following the Bills a fun pastime for you?
BillsfanAZ replied to PlayoffsPlease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fun and the Bills in the same sentence.....rare. The Vikings game was fun. I watch no matter what. Doesnt matter that they are getting blown out. I watch to see what players are worth keeping and which arent. I want to see why things work and why they dont. Usually I am screaming at the TV but not this season. This season I lowered my expectations to just wanting to see Allen grow. Now that Allen is not playing I am watching the players go through the motions on offense knowing they dont have much talent. The Colts game I just stared at the TV but I made myself watch til the end. -
A Few Thoughts about the Colts game, in no particular order
BillsfanAZ replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So you would trade a high first round pick and pay a QB 20 Mil a year so Allen can go through the learning curve two years from now? Let Allen play and make his mistakes. Get some talent on the roster through the draft and free agency. Let Allen get ready for next season by getting all the starting reps in OTAs and training camp. Cut Peterman and sign a veteran back up that has some ability. -
Why do new coaches overhaul rosters?
BillsfanAZ replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is because Fischer did a good job drafting for the Rams but just didnt get to see the fruits of his labor. -
Why do new coaches overhaul rosters?

That is a temporary thing. You bring in the players that fit your vision. -
Why do new coaches overhaul rosters?

If you finally got a shot at your dream job. To achieve your vision do you pound square pegs into round holes or find pegs that are round? The owner approves you to get rid of players that you dont want, accumulate draft picks, get your potential franchise QB, and address always being up against the salary cap. That would look a lot like what we see. -
McDermott's Judgement on offense is impaired.
BillsfanAZ replied to 1st Ammendment NoMas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So you looked at this roster before game 1 and expected improvement this season? Everyone wants the Bills to win but we have to be realistic here. The offense was horrible last year, and nothing was really changed except the OC. The OL is worse. You can say they took a step back at QB to be able to take leaps forward in the seasons to come but they are lacking offensive talent. If it wasnt for a good defense and turn overs the Bills would be getting blown out every game. -
The Rosen Era Has Begun in Arizona
BillsfanAZ replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nobody thought any of the rookie QB's drafted this year were ready to start. Most thought they would be a back up until later in the season or next season. Aside from Darnold they were all backups. The only reason all of them are playing is because of ineffective starters ahead of them. None of them won the starting job outright. We sit here and compare them all through the same lense when each one is in a different situation. Only thing they have in common is they are all on bad teams. They will all have good moments, bad moments, and horrible moments this season. Nobody can say what type of NFL career they will have by watching a handful of games. Watson said in his second season he is way ahead of where he was when he was a rookie. If half way through next season Allen is still having the same problems then it may be time to look to the draft again. -
The only way the Bills draft a QB is if a decent prospect drops to the 6th or 7th round. Ideally if Anderson plays ok then they can extend him a year or find another veteran that gets let go by another team. The Bills need to build the roster with talent that will contribute sooner than later.

Why Derek Anderson should start the rest of the season...
BillsfanAZ replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it depends on how the offense looks with Anderson at the helm. If the offense is productive then Anderson stays....especially if he looks good and pulls off a win over the Pats. I think at that point the team looks for wins and not development. If the offense is struggling then Allen plays when he is healthy even if the Bills win a game. It is tough for Allen because he has face a lot of good defenses and now moving forward the Bills face some lower ranked defenses. -
Derek Anderson to start vs Colts
BillsfanAZ replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Logan Thomas is barely good enough to be on the active roster as a TE. He has no business in the QB room. Emergency QB's basically hand the ball off and try not to turn it over. -
If CJB was so awesome, why did they trade for Jimmy G? So last season the 49ers had Garcon, Goodwin, Celek, Kittle, Hyde, and Juszczyk. All of them were productive in catching passes. Allen was not even supposed to be playing right now. If you want to blame the Bills for not having a better back up plan then fine but picking apart Allen because he struggles doesnt make sense. Everyone knew Allen needed development but when he is forced to play, everyone forgets about that and wants to see big passing yards.

That pick six is completely on Peterman and his weak arm. That being said, how come Jones didnt sit down in the open area or slant to the area left by the blitzer?
-
The two offenses are apples and oranges. AZ has upgraded their interior Oline with Pugh, HOF WR, high draft pick in Kirk, two decent TE's, and one of the best RB's in the NFL. I would take Johnson over McCoy any day. Mike McCoy is a better OC than Daboll.

I sincerely don't get all of the negativity.....
BillsfanAZ replied to warrior9's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What kind of offense did you think the Bills were going to have? They only got less talented since last year and last year the offense was awful. Nobody can say what kind of QB Allen is going to be after a handfull of starts. The Bills made a big mistake in keeping Peterman but most people on here thought he should start after seeing him in training camp and preseason. Would McCarren be any different? Who knows but it is easier to sit here and make guesses that he would be. How can you say that getting Allen more talent on offense isnt going to help? Aside from Shady, the Bills offense has no players that defenses respect. Watching the KC game last night, their TE's and WR's command a huge amount of respect and spread things out which helps Mahommes. Not to mention the amount of separation they can get. -
Daboll needs to do a better job in his play designs. That being said, Daboll designed the play but the players execute it. That pick six was on Peterman. That out route to the sideline may have just been to spread the CB's out. There was another Bills WR, I think it was Jones, that had a route a little deeper that was curling to the inside. Peterman said he made a read, which was a blitz from that side, and made a weak throw to the sideline. Jones would have been a better option...even throwing it low. The Texans were waiting for it. Now is it is designed that the WR's have to read that blitz and adjust their routes accordingly? I dont know but I didnt see that happening.
-
They were not illegal motion penalties today, they were illegal formation penalties meaning the players lined up in the wrong spot. That isnt on the OC. Neither are the penalties that negated positive plays. The whole offense is sucking, not just one part. Rookie QB, WR's that rarely gain separation and drop balls, and aside from Shady there are no players on the offense that defenses need to game plan for. I would be curious to see what plays are being called or what each player is responsible for compared to how they are executed.

I would be happy with a Win no matter how ugly it is. I will tell you what I dont want to see is the Bills getting blown out because the offense cant do anything. I can accept a close game and the Bills losing.....I wont like it but I can accept it. The Bills looking inept and Allen struggling will be hard to swallow.
