  1. I agree Beans has provided a talented and deep roster. However compare the cap situation of the Chiefs and Pats and you will see those teams have done more with less. I am not going to fight about the HC here but I believe they can win with McDermott and the reality is it is not changing. I will counter to say where the Bills lack is on top end talent. They have Josh and then a drop off to Diggs/Milano and then lots of good talent. They don't have perennial All pro type talent anywhere.
  2. I don't agree, we drafted a LB in the first round we got a good 5 years out of and was not worth the value to the Bills he was to another team. It is ok to let guys go. I believe Beane wanted to resign Edmunds but he could not justify it cap wise with the other people he signed. I Believe if Von was not signed, that money may have went to Edmunds and then we would not have learned what Bernard is.
  3. If you are here to say the cap does not exist this thread is not for you. I find it interesting the Chiefs are in a much more healthy salary cap position than the Bills and many other teams and they are playing in Super Bowl's most years. They have chosen to not sign some big free agents on their team, trade a unicorn WR and draft/develop. The Chiefs have carefully paid guys in FA but they also have the highest priced player in the league. Under Beane the philosophy has been draft develop retain and sign some key free agents. Personally I think they have retained a little more than they need to and signed more FA's than needed which has resulted in a tough cap situation and a situation where draft picks struggle to make the team. When you let guys go (for bigger dollars) it provides opportunities for other guys on the roster. For instance Tremaine Edmunds moving on provided an opportunity for Terrell Bernard. The Chiefs philosophy has been to focus on the trenches and defense in the draft vs "we need more and more weapons" which is the complete opposite of what most think the Bills should do. Beane has tried to extend nearly every draft pick who has worked out which includes guys like Knox, Bass and Oliver who I was not crazy about any of those contracts when they were given. Oliver has lived up to it but not so sure about Bass and Knox. For the past few years 6th and 7th round picks have mostly not made the final roster (Benford is an exception) and most of those players ended up on other teams rosters, none have developed into all stars yet but what is the point of having those picks if they can't make the team. The Bills fill the roster with vets that have experience and they push those rookies off the team. Personally I would like to see most of the draft picks make the team and have opportunities to play when the situation arises. Some will bust out but others will provide cheap depth and possibly grow into something much above their draft status. At this point I would seriously consider offloading some contracts through cuts and trades (if possible) and open up cap for future years while drafting 10 guys and having most of them make the team who will grow into key contributors down the road. The Chiefs have proven they can with the SB while offloading talent (Hill) because they have Mahomes and are well coached. I am good with a first round WR but I think that position gets talked about way too much. This team needs to get young on the DL and backend of the defense.
  4. I can see dinging him for the QB sneaks to a degree, many made that argument for Hurts and it makes some sense. Anything more than 1 yard though I think are fine to give him more credit on. He is hard to defend because he can pass or run, I would not ding him when he scrambles and gets in or has a designed run that is not a sneak.
  5. What happens when someone intercepts his pass?
  6. I bet if you were offered $1M+ per year to work with him you would sign right up
  7. I woudl trade him for Bill Belichick.
  8. 100% If anything I think they prioritize depth a bit more than they need to. Not saying it is not important but they like guys with experience as depth a lot. Veterans like David Edwards, Bates, Mancz interior OL. Same with DT/DE lots of depth. In fact the 52 and 53rd guy on the roster are so valuable to them they cannot waive a guy to take a chance on someone's practice squad guy for instance and there are diamonds to be found. Other teams do it to the Bills. I think you want a roster spot or two to churn but they have been so deep that is not possible. They are so deep the 6 and 7 round picks mostly dont make it but they need a chance to develop in a lot of cases, not all.
  9. fans are fanatical, reason is out the window for so many. FIRE EVERONE NOW, DONT LET HIM BACK IN THE LOCKER ROOM AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
  10. It is a regular season award and it is pretty clear why the 5 ahead of him should be. However from watching the playoffs it is hard to argue Mahomes is not the most valuable player in the league. This award just like all the other subjective awards are kind of a joke but give people something to talk about. Mahomes is clutch, Lamar is the opposite of that and that counts for a lot in my book. Josh is also clutch but he has nothing to show for it because the defense consistently lets him down in big spots.
  11. No, you beat them. The proposed options would make the NFL worse than it is today for a bunch of reasons. It also would show how people just want daddy to tweak the rules so they have a better chance to win which I object to.
  12. Brady needs a belt!
  13. I was not passng judgement on Josh, just pointing out some things that media types love to talk about. The Bills have won the games in the regular season, the chiefs n the playoffs....the last 4 games came down to a play here or there, I think we the Bills are right there and to some degree luck has not been with them. Mahomes is a playoff machine but so is Allen, unfortunately Allen will not get the benefit of the doubt from anyone other than maybe Bills fans, they have to win.
  14. At this point it is on the Bills and Allen to make some deeper runs or they will be more Phillip Rivers, Marty Shottenheimer talk which is probably deserved. I feel bad for Allen because he has performed well enough to have won a couple more games, he is not the problem.
  15. I don't agree, he could have forced the issue if he really wanted to its just how painful would it be for both sides. Bills could have spread the cap hit over two years, he could refuse to show up or pretend to be injured and just cause problems. If he really wanted out he could potentially redo his Bills deal and get a new one with a new team in order to facilitate that. There is always a a way. I don't have a problem with Diggs, I think his attitude can kind of bring out the best in others. However, I think he is overpaid at this point. If he were on New England or many other teams he would be nothing. He should want to stay where he is if he wants stats, it wont get much better elsewhere.
  16. Anyone can force themselves out at any time its just a matter of how painful it is for everyone. It is not clear Diggs wants out. What does he want to do, go to a team that will give him the most targets and catches in the next 4 years and maybe 4th in yards and TD's. Maybe he wants to play with a top 5 QB?
  17. Riech is hard nosed and blunt? I agree with the premise of this thread but it is not for sure the bills have Josh the oc he wants. He publicly praised him after the season but could easily have a differ t opinion behind closed doors. Also I don’t think frank reich fills the job description. Bills fans like him because he was a bill. Let’s be a little more sophisticated.
  18. Here is the thing. If you play them 10 times playoffs or regular season it is probably a split. The fact the chiefs have won the playoff games is maybe indicative they are more clutch or maybe it’s just happenstance. No one can tell me they could not have won the last two playoff games.
  19. Yeah mahomes has 6 playoff wins the last two years so far. Allen has 5 in his career.
  20. So we should copy the chiefs? I can disable your firepower with a good defense
  21. Last few years 6s and 7s end of on other teams rosters because the bills are deep. Benford is an exception who popped right away. They need to not sign as many older vets for depth and let the young guys they draft develop. IMO
  22. Hope to see some booth blowups just because they are fun to watch.
  23. He really should not I agree. They do t consider post season so great he was the qb of the one seed. He is not even close to the mvp.
  24. This just makes last week sting a little more.
  25. Joe Brady the Diggs igniter
