The defense kept them in the game. You want to argue about which poo sandwich tastes worse go for it.

Neither has “made it”. Jury is out on both. You want to point to record as proof you are foolish. Let’s look again at the end of next year. Allen was horrendous against the pats also. How quickly we forget.

I dont remember a QB sneak on 3rd and 4. But as I said, there are some things I would change. But at the end of the day, I like a lot more than I don't like. I dont care who calls the plays, fans will complain about some aspect of play calling. Again, it's a modern NFL offensive design and is allowing Allen to get a lot of experience throwing the ball. I don't like the designed runs. But find a team whose fans all think the play calling is great, that does not exist. It is easy and the first thing to criticize.

This is something that does not get talked about. There are a lot of new players on offense across the board, its not just the starters. To make that all work out of the gate is hard.

I see a night and day difference between the play calling this year an any recent year and frankly, I am quite happy with the play calling. The Bills are #2 in adjusted pass play % only behind the Chiefs. While I think they should work to balance more I think this shows a concerted effort to change this offense from what we have watched for the last 15 years to a modern NFL offense. We have been in the stone ages. I do agree that the designed runs to Allen are perplexing but I like the overall design. The running game is super efficient. Pass protection is a concern but Josh reading the defense and making the right throw is the biggest issue. And dont take that as a "Josh Allen hater", he is not seeing everything as he could but with time I hope that gets better. He was getting beat consistently by the all out blitz yesterday, when a seasoned QB would make you pay for doing that (at least once in a while). With the Dolphins it seemed to always be successful. I think Allen is the big factor. Playcalling is a go to excuse when things dont go the way fans want.

I was wondering when he would break that out....its interesting because he is so humble and professional sounding when he gets interviewed. Not that I have anything against the dance, I am good with it but it does not seem to fit his personality that I have heard on the radio...which can obviously be misleading.

It comes down to answering the question. Was it a run play if pass play. Oliver’s Play was a pass play. A would be passed got tackled behind the line of scrimmage...sack. A sweep is a run play....tackled behind los = TFL.

I am not remembering the one before an FG, you may be right on that one. But there was another that led to a punt where he did have time...both were "jail breaks". Not every time but at least sometimes you should burn the defense on those.

James Lofton Calls Out Knox on Drop
Matt_In_NH replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont mind Lofton, although I do prefer some others. He does not get on my nerves like Gannon. Speaking of Murphy, how do people feel about the whole "Tre-Day" call? I find it over the top gimmicky and wish he would stop that. -
It was true until the 15 yarder drive yesterday. The offense has been a mixed bag, there are signs of life but mistakes (penalties and turnovers) have kept the points down. Going into yesterday they were officially the 10th ranked offense (based on yards) but points wise 7th from the bottom. Since they have not been down a lot, the yards are not meaningless stat padding yards. Every game, even yesterday has a reason why they dont play well the whole game....they need to put some complete games together on offense. The 4th quarter play by Allen has been really good and is the reason this team is 5-1. On the flip side, they may not have needed those 4th quarter numbers if Allen had not made various mistakes earlier on (not sure that is really true for yesterday but is for the whole season). Again....mistakes. A great QB will make the defense pay with a TD when you all out blitz them....the Dolphins were very successful at that yesterday, we will see more of that in t he future until he makes them pay. On at least one of those he had the opportunity to scan the field and came up empty which should not be the case with all those blitzers.

Postgame: Dolphins 21 at Bills 31

Usain bolt? -
He played a game without breaking his foot, that's a win.

So self scouting last week...they did not work on long balls? He throws it three miles too long every time.
-
Seriously. That looked like a fumble.

Looks like Miami listened to buffalo radio this week.

Updated - RayRay Cut by the Panthers *Re-signed by Bills

Whatever happened to Dez Bryant? -
This makes sense, the yards, first downs and ToP are there. Stop with the turnovers and the points will go up..easier said than done though with the QB since if he gets conservative, the yards, first downs and ToP may also go down. You need to continue that while reducing the turnovers.

Rams trade CB Marcus Peters to Ravens

The great player apparently no one wants to keep -
10 of the top 16 are in the NFC which lines up with what we know about how the AFC has performed this year.

I am sure I am in the minority but I'll throw this out there anyway. I get why people are upset but I also think people forget how bad it used to be before replay. I think what has changed more than anything are more rules and a million times more scrutiny with frame by frame analysis, social media gifs, 24/7 NFL networks, non stop analysis of the bad calls....that is what is more different than the actual performance of the refs which has always been and always will be inconsistent and subjective. To some extent you get some calls you lose others, that has and always will be part of the NFL, NHL and every other sport. The refs cant see everything in real time, I think most people can understand that,so use technology to get it right if you can. Before replay, there were obvious called scoring plays that today would be reversed, obvious called turnovers that today would be reversed, obvious called catches that today would be reversed, etc. My point is there are aspects of review they are doing well. Now this stupid idea to carve out pass interference as reviewable for called AND NON-called penalties is just terrible to watch it play out. I really think the refs are just doing "silent protest" of sorts and not reversing any of these. Not sure why they are doing it when some of these are so obvious other than reviewing non called penalties opens up a pandora's box I don't think we really want to open. Today its PI, tomorrow its holding, hands to the face, helmet to helmet contact and other things that might happen on every play but lets just wait for a big play by the opponent and then find a reason to reverse it. Personally, I would like to see reviews for called penalties to get rid of obvious calls they got wrong but to go to replay to throw a flag is a terrible idea in my opinion.
