No wr is injured and there are 6 other WRs. You expect him to go from PS to first string? He should get decent play time but expectations may be a little out of whack.

Unsupported assertions? The Bill lead the league in turning the ball over, most of that is Allen. Some decisions have been just awful, Bengals INT, taking sacks in FG range, there is plenty of data to support the assertion that Josh Allen has made a lot of bad decisions this year. However, I am not an Allen hater like you are seeming to assume. I do agree he has improved a ton in short and medium accuracy. I know he improved from the beginning to end of last year and improved to start this year, the trajectory needs to continue upward and I am confident it will. But the Bills sit at 8th or 9th in yards, have improved OL and WR. Sure the talent is not top notch and the team should continue to try and improve but I contend with the players they have they can have a very good offense, assuming the QB makes better decisions. That is the most important thing moving forward, much more important than adding Stephon Diggs. The output wont change much with Diggs is my contention, but it will/can if Allen gets better. The most important key to a better offense is more consistent QB play, not other WR's. -

Depending on the outcome of tomorrows game...AJ Green
Matt_In_NH replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is a weird fascination with WR's being the end all. I mean AJ Green is a great talent but he is always injured and on the last year of his deal. We are trying to build for the future, this offense can be successful with the players they have. They are like 8th or 9th in yards....just need to clean up the mistakes and they can be pretty good. This team is building for the long term, not just this year. We have the offseason and draft to potentially add talent at WR. At this point I wish they would sign Duke just so I can stop hearing about it. But then when he gets few looks it will be about that. -
Fitzpatrick was an MVP candidate at one point too early in a season....a couple times

A WR is not a magic pill for a QB who makes bad decisions. -
Again with this crap

That was the worst mic'd up I have ever heard.

Most QB's start out with bad numbers.........some work their way out of it. I have seen signs that Allen is able to improve. EJ was peaking at this point.....Allen still has a higher ceiling to me. I definitely wonder if he can truly make it or not but for 2019 I am hitched to him and hope he succeeds. But he needs to stop thinking he can fix world hunger on each play.

I feel for him and his family, it will take time to heal/find a way forward. My wife and I had twins born at 26 weeks (3 months early) with a lot of health issues as a result. We had oxygen tanks and monitors with them for a year after we were out of the hospital. Living in a hospital for 3 months in the NICU you meet a lot of other families and see/hear a lot of things. Being pregnant with multiples is risky, the more babies, the riskier it gets, unfortunately, this outcome is not atypical. There was one family who had lost like 10 babies from 3 pregnancies and this time they had healthy twins. There are times they have to have some and the other stay in the womb still, it is crazy the things that happen and amazing what can be done but a lot cant be done also.

It is measure/countermeasure. Some QB's are able to adapt when defenses take away things they do well and do something else equally well. Some QB's are more talented than others and have a comprehensive game that is harder to defend than a player than can only do a few things. Others can do some things well but not all things, they "get figured out" and ultimately fail, like Edwards.
-
Sensationalism......he was viciously hit and never became a franchise qb so it HAD to have been the cause!
-
IMO (and I know a lot don't agree) that is complete urban legend. Edwards arguably had his best game his first game back from that injury. Defenses figured out some things to do against him and Edwards had no answer. He was never destined for greatness and his failure would have occurred with our without that concussion. Look around the NFL, guys get concussions all the time, how many of them never return to the form they had before?

I dont think there was any chance of that getting overturned, even with minor contact there.

There what is? All team bring in refs to training camp

Bill Belichick Defends Jones Hit on Josh Allen!
Matt_In_NH replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Saying everyone has to immediately be thrown out of games and suspended when some of these plays (while illegal) are hard to prevent, they happen and players need to try and prevent them but they happen, without intent. Some of these same people are upset by all the penalties on these plays saying its ruining the game they grew up with. Throwing everyone out for helmet to helmet is a terrible idea. -
Bill Belichick Defends Jones Hit on Josh Allen!
Matt_In_NH replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah this is football. People smash each other and there is a lot of aggressiveness about it. People are losing their minds about this. It was a bang bang play where Allen was going for the first down and the defender was trying to prevent that. Bills mafia loves to celebrate the hit on Brady for 20 years ago where his helmet went flying. While that was not illegal then it would be now. Is that something to be celebrated with gifs everywhere? Allen will be out a lot if he continues to try and run defenders over. -
is there a one yard from line of scrimmage is allowable element? He looks to be 1.5 yards past though.....he clearly intended on interfering. But all teams do these, the Pats probably the most. Other teams like the Bills should probably do more of them. Anyone who has been paying attention to the challenges for PI knew there was 0 chance it was getting overturned. Fouts actually said it was a good challenge, but I completely disagreed, it was just a wasted timeout is all it was. A timeout that might have been useful down at the goal line when they had to take a delay of game.

Clements' 2001 Brady and 2019 Josh Allen Hit

I agree with you. It’s great he can run around but should he needs to beat opponents with his arm. -

Did Jonathan Jones purposely take out Josh Allen?
Matt_In_NH replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They did add a penalty a couple years ago about runners lowing their head, not sure it has eve been called. I really think you have to consider the down and distance and the fact Allen was approaching the sticks on 3rd and 8. He was going for the first down, the defender was trying to prevent it. The play was illegal on the defenders side for sure but I have seen much worse. -

It was a penalty, we can argue about intent and if he should have been ejected all day and I am sure he will get fined. But to go frame by frame and decide that he changed his target for the sole intent on injuring is pure conjecture. Given the down and distance, it was important to stop forward progress immediately. Here is the thing from my perspective, the QB should use his arm to beat the opponent and not have to rely on putting his head down and trying to move the chains. If that continues, injuries will continue.
