Those were some overoficious jerks!

I think its fair to say both teams benefited and were hurt by the officiating at different times. -
(hypothetical) Alabama vs. Bills spread
Matt_In_NH replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Alabama would probably be a wild card team -
I dont know if anyone else felt this way but this was an awful game to watch, constant penalties, a lot of them questionable. I think penalties have been trending down but this game brought the average up a lot, it was horrendous to watch. Any time something happened, there was a 75% chance of a flag.

He came off the bench? I think that does change things.

Nice game but Allen needs to pass

He hangs guys out to dry then when they get smashed and dont catch we call it a drop, ball placement is a thing, an important thing -

The Jags have lost 7 games in a row. The Packers defense is not that good. He is struggling to throw for any volume. If he got sacked on the pass to Foster which he almost did he would have been under 100 yards again. His athleticism shows no doubt. -

I do agree he was instrumental today, but they way he played today is not sustainable and wont work against better teams. The Jags are a great defense on paper only, they have been getting smoked for weeks. That was one example, there are plenty of others, he is a one ready QB right now. He could have diagnosed the pressure before the snap and watched for a couple things after the snap and easily read that and completed the pass. Instead he looked at his first read and then pulled it down. Like the better QB's do all the time. He will need to rely less on his running as time goes on. You want to put him in the HOF go for it but Im not, he barely completes 50% of his passes while most guys are mid 60's. Stop making excuses. He needs to improve a lot, I am hopeful he will. Today he completed 8 passes out of 19 and he rushed 13 times. He ran today on like 40% of his drop backs, that will not be a recipe to win a lot of games. 8 for 19 passing with 13 runs. You are happy with that? I mean they won the game so I get "who cares about stats when you win". But for me, I just dont see that as something that will be successful in the long term if it continues. -

I had the same thought. The first 3rd down they had where he ran for the first down, he had a guy right after the snap to the right that would have been an easy conversion but he was not looking there. Bottom line is right now he is a one read guy, that has to change for him to make it. It's great that he is using his legs though which can give him some confidence and keep the offense moving at times. In the long run though your franchise QB has to be able to throw it more consistently that he does right now. So many bootlegs that generate a lot of time to pass and he often just hoofs it for 3-4 yards. -

This is why there is replay. Don’t overreact it’s coming back -
Do you really think our #1 Defense could - -
Matt_In_NH replied to PUNT750's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Keep seeing the Bills are #1 but that is not true, they are #2 in yards behind Baltimore. -
There are lots of examples of guys who played as rookies too though. Goff, Wentz, Newton, Trubisky, Rivers, Ryan, Roethlisburger, Luck. If the best thing for his development is to sit, then they should do that. All I am saying is his development is the number one priority, whatever that is. The Bills have decided that means he needs to play.
-
I did not say that, all I am saying is that is clearly what the Bills have decided. I agree, if the best thing for him to do is sit and watch they should do that.

was it any good?

This year is all about developing Allen and everything else is secondary. Because he is the young talented guy the Bills need to develop. They pushed all their chips in on Allen so he gets to play and hopefully improve. I suppose people think Barkley should start because he had a decent game and I guess if they were trying to win at all costs he might be considered. But this team is building for the future not for week 11 against the Jags.

This game is likely to be low scoring which means a turnover here or there could easily swing it either way.
