Josh Allen AFC Player of the Month!
Matt_In_NH replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The higher his value the better. -
I do have doubts about Lamar long term so I get that. With any of these guys you want them to be able to succeed as a "pocket passer" if they need to. The guys who play into their 40's don't do what Lamar does. Athleticism here and there, sure but it cant be the go to long term. He has been extraordinarily effective to this point in his career even with some limitations. I think he is 24-4 as a starter....often people here would defend Allen based on wins and losses, the argument has some validity to it. I was reacting more to comparing Lamar to Allen AND Mahomes as if Allen and Mahomes are in the same class but Jackson is something else. Both of those guys have had MVP seasons. Allen has had 3 weeks where you could argue is in MVP discussions but it's only three weeks....a lot of anomalies occur in three weeks. I guess I am shell shocked and still want to see Allen perform over a longer period of time. Lamar can't win the game because of a playoff game....that is one way to look at it...but they give that away before they even play the super bowl right? So is the intent to look over the entire season or mostly its a regular season thing? Wilson is the best in the league right now with Mahomes right next to him almost neck and neck.

For me, This game and the next weeks game where they had a similar stretch....they were getting beat and then scored a bunch all of a sudden is when the 90's team was truly born, this is when they learned how to win. I think the week before or in a game prior to this game Levy took a bunch of starters out when the Bills were getting smoked. Bruce Smith made a big deal about it, he was pissed, did not like the idea of giving up. Levy never did that again.

Damn I hate feeling old...thanks dude

So Allen is in the same class as Mahomes but Lamar is not? Over three games? I get there are differences but come on. You decide to take the mvp out of it why?

Beat almost sack artist in the nfl -
Aaron Donald is al all time great. He was largely the root of the problems. I would not get too worried about it.

How can we improve this defence?
Matt_In_NH replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First, they are not as bad as you may think. Going into this game they were fifth overall.....going by yards. After this game they will take a big hit. Sometimes the higher ranked defenses are on teams that have weak offenses....the games tend to be low scoring and close, kind of like the Bills of the last couple years kind of fall into that group. Things have changed, the offense can score points and put the other team in a hole. When you have a team that does that it provided a good chance for the other team to get a lot of yards and points. They need to learn how to play with a lead, get to the QB and cause some turnovers. I think the D may just not be quite as good as we have thought of them as, they need to evolve this year to form a better match with the offense. They played a lot of weak teams last year, a lot of QB's with very little experience. This year the schedule is loaded with quality quarterbacks, we say that yesterday. McVeigh and Goff have had a lot of success, they were a super bowl team two years ago. Moving forward, its Carr, TanneyHill (Not Mariotta), Mahomes, Darnold, Newton, Wilson, Murray, Herbert, Garrappolo, Roethlisburger (not the chumps from last year), Lock, Newton, Fitz. Overall that list is way superior than the list of nobodys they played last year. Maybe there will be some changes, but all in all, this year is a lot more challenging for this years defense. -
The Rams tried to take away Allen's escape routes
Matt_In_NH replied to Matt_In_NH's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Texans did the same thing in the playoff game. When Allen takes a long sack when you really don’t want a sack it has been from this type of scheme. They trap him to where he struggles to get a ball off even as a throw away. -
They consistently had a guy coming wide around the edge where Allen would try and spin out of the pocket. This is how Belicheck handles Allen. Today he was able to do just enough to get through but it clearly was frustrating him. They need to find a counter to this technique....the Rams have some good DL so they could bring some pressure so that was part of it but there must be something open when they do this, probably an escape route straight ahead.

I would give edmunds a break. His shoulder is probably not 100% -
They said he was injured. Do we know what the injury is?

And the criticism can be totally ridiculous

Postgame Thread Bills vs Rams
Matt_In_NH replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The bills were fortunate today. Allen is clutch but he also played some hero ball today. Maybe you can’t have one without the other. He needs to be more reactionary on plays like 1 and 10. No sense doing wild things. -

Bills have hardest remaining schedule per FPI ESPN
Matt_In_NH replied to Cson76's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you are not giving the bills enough credit. They are a challenge/one of the tougher games for all those teams you think will be favored. Many of the home games they will be favored or close to even on. The bills are one of the better teams in the league today. Why are the Steelers going to be favored in Buffalo? It is a tough schedule no doubt but they can beat most of these teams. -
