Spotrac: freeing up cap space for Bills
Matt_In_NH replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His contract sucks, not much to be done there. -
Brain damage from screaming into the mic over emphasizing a minor point?

Anyone listen to OBL yesterday, Brown and Tasker could not understand this proposal, it was comical.

Marc Sessler "one fit for each afc team"

Daryl Williams is more important to the Bills than Thuney...I dont see them prioritizing their very limited precious resources on the most expenseive guard in FA. -
Not saying they should pay but Dak is in the drivers seat, he is an FA, Mahomes was on his rookie deal with years to go. Generally NFL revenues go up so do salaries.....obviously this year is an exception but if you are going 10 years out you can make the assumption it will recover healthily. Dak's "statistics" were pretty crazy before his injury.

Bills submit rule proposal change on interviews

I think you might be right! At one point Daboll made a statement and took himself out of the conversation....wonder how that came about. -
There are a lot of examples of punishments not seeming fair in our justice system......I watch a doc about a guy who went around the country to various casinos. He would recruit a blackjack dealer and collude to fix the game in his favor. All told it was over a million bucks, he got a year. Go rob a bank where you will be lucky to get a few grand you could get a 20 year sentence.

It looks like you also want to RFA tender Wallace? What you suggest is about as much room as can be created. I think reality will be somewhere in the middle, I thin k they will create 20 something million with some mix of what you suggested. As far as projected contracts/FA's, I think for the first wave, numbers are always more than expected. So there might not be as much buying power for some of the guys you recommend (Look at JJ Watt for example). I would try to find bargains as teams are forced to waive guys....there will be a lot more available than they guys that are FA's now. The "middle class" will have a lot of value this year. And the Bills want to extend Josh this offseason....which they can do without affect this years cap much if at all.

So do a Diggs type deal this year for a DE?
Matt_In_NH replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My opinion, yeah you can do it that way but there are consequences. Typically you might do things that way if you have a small window. You are trading draft capital for cap/known production. Sometimes that makes sense but for the most part you want to draft, hit and get production from players on rookie contracts. The Bills are not in a great position to take on large contracts, they could do some cap gymnastics to make it happen but there will be pain down the road if you do it that way. -
I hate that the nfl is going the way of the nba. For me this is a clear case of “stay in you lane Russell”. He’s the qb, team and community leader. Now he wants to be a capilogist/gm? In the nfl that takes a lot of work, let the pros do their job. If you want an example of how to get away, look no further than Brady...play out your deal and leave.

Also, OJ is available as of a couple years ago. -
Available players released from other teams

Beane has not made a habit of signing injury prone players....everything is case by case but I think it's clear they value availability. Evidenced by the lack of injuries the last couple years. -
