If you want McDermott gone you are totally insane. To think coaches cannot make mistakes/evaluate themselves/improve is awful. I cannot explain the defense they called with 13 seconds left but his body of work outweighs the negative by a lot. He has proven he can change his philosophy on 4th downs, he will learn from this. We all wish he and the rest of the staff were better prepared for this situation. There are literally thousands of situations to be prepared for so maybe this forces them to do some additional homework/planning. We have a good organization, blowing it up would be super dumb.
He also tweeted he was done for the year when he got benched. Right now he is a FA, we can all speculate what he really means but I would think it is possible he could be back. Unless the Bills have told him we are moving on which I dont think we have seen.
Agree, but there will be some other holes, on DL, Obada, Phillips, Butler, Hughes and Addison are FA's.
Gotta see how Free Agency falls out. If you can find a Debo Samuel-ish guy that would be awesome in this offense.
The reality is the Chiefs are going to their 4th straight AFC C game and probably 3rd straight SB. The Bills are a bump on their way to a couple of those so until you beat them in the playoffs and win your own SB, you wont be as good. Allen will also be judged second for the same reason until he wins the whole thing, it is just how it is. We don't need moral victories, its time to win championships.
Maybe and maybe not.....his numbers returning kicks are decent, so he that adds value. It also could be reasonable someone saw the Patriots game and sees the aptitude. It seemed like he got offers last year and came back to Buffalo for less (no idea if that is really true and how much less) but he may have felt like he would get the opportunity to grow and increase his value more than he did. Anway, if he goes, his skill set needs to be replaced, hopefully with someone who is just as fast but a little more physical.
Grow the coaching staff and be more prepared for times such as 13 seconds left when the other team has three timeouts and needs a fg.
growth kind set. Figure out how/why this team was so inconsistent mid season and get a higher seed.
Its not the players, the reason the Bills lost was the playcalling with 13 seconds left. This game is squarely on whoever called that prevent defense or whatever you call it to literally GIVE them the FG attempt. Just like Tennessee lost squarely because of their awful QB. They did so much right, this was the game they needed to get by and in the end, it was a strategic blunder.
I get your point but right now this feels like hell. This fan base does not deserve this. I was ok with a loss. I knew that was a real possibility. But to lose that way is not something I can move on from right now. The QB was perfect and with the number one defense you find a way to lose still. Can’t believe it
I don't think he is a good HC candidate to begin with. Last night is probably the nail in the coffin for his chances. Although, do we know if this is squarely on him, not sure how much McD would be involved there.
Man I am in a foul mood today. I had some things happen personally over the years that has helped put things like Bills football in perspective. For years I have not let it affect my personal life/get moody over a game. Today is gonna be hard. Everything is pissing me off today and I just woke up an hour ago.
If Daboll had got hired last year and we had a new OC and had the year we had the guy would have been destroyed by Bills Mafia in the regular season. Whoever takes over has huge shows to fill and will face a ton of scrutiny.
