It is like 20 years old, its not dated. By the time the build a new one, 1.5B will sound like what 200M sounds like today. And all things being equal, the team will pay for it. Most states/governments are getting away from building these stadiums.

Fundamentally the issue comes down to what governments should and should not do with tax money. People fall on different sides of the fence on those issues. What you said is true, the budget is enormous and this is a drop in the bucket. The problem (some will say) is the bucket is way bigger than it should be because all these little things add up to a huge numbers is why NY State has huge taxes, county taxes etc. Once you have a sales tax you can increase it by a small amount and fund new things...over time you get to the bloated condition NY State is in. This is a case study in the "slippery slope". I live in New Hampshire, we have no income tax, no sales tax and something like funding for a stadium would be a non starter period, no chance, we are a minimalist government yet people still find things to complain about.

Off Topic guess Lamar’s new contract
Matt_In_NH replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not saying this would happen but what if Josh pulled a Watson and wanted out? That is how this whole thing started. -
Beasley had three broken ribs last season?

I remember his ribs being an issue for a bunch of weeks....they never said but you could tell he was in pain. -

Peace sign five yards before he passes Milano...that was kind of awesome. -
Off Topic guess Lamar’s new contract
Matt_In_NH replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
We can see where these contracts are going, I think it sucks. But I also think the Watson thing is a one off. He had full leverage over the Browns, he did not want them but they were desperate for him. Cousins has also gotten fully guaranteed contracts but that did not result in all QB's getting that. -
I have seen this before, don't expect "your team" to be cheap, that is 99% of the reason anyone would subscribe, that is the golden goose.

It’s not near 50 and even though I have not been there since the renovation. I have to agree. I saw a game there and it was brutal in that sun

People here are mad it’s not downtown and does not have a roof.

Is this more “disrespect” for Buffalo? We are getting picked on?
-
In general I agree with you but what if it is windy in a certain direction? I think you take it because you then also take control of the clock. Actually that brings up a question, lets say team A gets the ball and uses all of the clock except 13 seconds. The other team gets a possession but do they only have 13 seconds or do they get however long their possession takes?

So they are discontinuing Hard Knox?

Jarvis Landry wants $20 million a year
Matt_In_NH replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
Contracts go up over time, we know that. It feels like the wrs this off-season have gone up percentage wise way higher than other positions. Their success is highly dependent on a quality QB throwing them the ball. Landry is. It special talent wise. Then again neither is Kirk yet he got what Landry is asking for. -
Drew Rosenhaus says there’s more bombshell trades coming.
Matt_In_NH replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Is baker mayfield to the dolphins a “bombshell”? As others have said. You have to consider the contract and the player not just the player. If someone is desperate to get him then they might be willing to take it. Not clear that is the case. -

The WR numbers are ridiculous but you have to look at the contract details, the numbers are not real in all cases. The Tyreek Hill contract is weird at 30M/year sticker but the last year is like 44 million salary (the whole things is 120M, so more than 1/3!) with a relatively small dead cap. Basically it made the agent look good with the 30mil/year thing and guarantees he wont be franchised, no way he plays that out. -
Brady tried to engineer his way to Miami: TAMPERING!

Matt_In_NH replied to Zerovoltz's topic in The Stadium Wall
i don’t think anything you wrote are what would decide for him. He thinks he can beat all those guys. Miami has a huge Latin population, not to mention modeling. And he may want to stick it to Belichick some more. -
Lets get one, then you can fantasize

Looming Stefon Diggs Contract situation - What do you do?

I trust Beane. A trade after this year is probably not off the table. -
Tyreek seeking a trade [Now: Traded to the Dolphins]
Matt_In_NH replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe. I think it was a decision they made based on cost benefit analysis. Yes he is so good. Machines is an ideal QB for a guy like Hill. People say the cap is not real it is and that is what happened here. This gives them flexibility moving forward and a chance to make a longer run with Mahoney. They sold high. -
Tyreek seeking a trade [Now: Traded to the Dolphins]
Matt_In_NH replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is a great deal for the Chiefs long term. It does reduce their talent today. It helps reset their cap situation. Both taking a high paid guy off the books and adding draft capital where if they hit they get good talent at a cheap price. The bills could be in a similar position in a year or two.
