Best solution is another 2.5 mil for next year when he will get his chance. -

Re-thinking the hiring of color commentators
Matt_In_NH replied to Miyagi-Do Karate's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree there are some bad one....disagree hiring film nerds is the right answer. To some degree, this partly depends on what you want....if you want X's and O's all the time then your suggestion could work. But its one size fits all thing, people want to be entertained, there is a huge part of the viewing audience that does not want to know about minutia. Maybe the right answer is multiple crews...a la Manning Cast, or the Nickelodeon thing. -
Jerry Hughes’ Last Regular Season Home Game?
Matt_In_NH replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wont be surprised if he gets resigned -
Yeah I agree, it's a people business....but who specifically is he talking about, I guess he sees things with younger coaches where they are not able to speak in front of the team? He talked about the zoom calls, are people actually making zoom calls vs in person because they cant be in front of the crowd or because of Covid? I would not think that is the case in the NFL but maybe it is. In general with how kids are raised nowadays along with the impacts of phones/technology, I believe what he is saying and I have observed the "I want to immediately move up the ladder before I have actually done anything" mentality at work, I am 46 so somewhere in the middle. It's not all bad though, culture and society change...always has and some of these leadership skills may develop a little later for some. For a guy like Pease, I think he feels it's disrespectful, which it is. NFL aside, if you look at the jobs situation/mass resignation, it's probably good kids are leaning forward and want to move up. There will be some growing pains but my opinion is it will work itself out. At the end of the day, people will sink or swim.

Video analysis: How the Falcons shut down Dawson Knox
Matt_In_NH replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
46 receptions 538 yards and 9 TD's. Noticeable uptick for him, particularly in TD's but I am not sure I would call him a breakout star. -
He is an FA. So it comes down to money. Will another team value him to the level he has played this year? It’s possible the Bills just choose to spend money elsewhere.

Isn't it a predetermined formula that is applied equally to all teams?

The tools can absolutely take into account more real time information, the technology is there. No they cant look a guy in the eye but analytics can look at the history of the current game and use that as part of a formula along with larger history. Like other have said, it is just one tool and the coach can always make a decision. No matter what they do, if it works out in the other teams favor, a bunch of internet trolls will attack.

Giants GM Dave Gettleman to retire on Monday
Matt_In_NH replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall
Dave, we scheduled your retirement for next week, ok? -
I believe in using data, the things he talked about as far as analytics....not taking how the game is going, weather, how your team is playing is all true and should actually be included in an optimal analytics decision. I have no idea what NFL teams take into and don't take into account as far as analytics but from the internet coaches is they just go off pure history/samples of down and distance, time left and don't consider these other factors which could make your decision making better. As far as younger people not wanting to pay their dues, yeah that is true in society in general right now. The information available to a younger person can give them confidence to challenge the experienced person....but there is still something to be said for experience. I thought he came across as whining about computers though, the reality is someone using software can have more information, and more reliable information than someone with pad and paper, that is dinosaur stuff.

It would have to be a low round pick to take that contract and injury history. -
Questions Surrounding a New Stadium in OP .
Matt_In_NH replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall
For a large scale build like this it costs more to try to reuse stuff and is not worth the effort. There could be a lot of issues that come up, local building codes change, the old equipment is probably not the right choice in a lot of cases, etc. -

Titans out of playoffs....this is interesting. But I agree, you have to win close games, you dont get to just flip the results.

Bills vs. Jets Tickets Selling as low as $8
Matt_In_NH replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
I find this surprising with the division on the line. I get its December and weather but $8 is basically free, $50 too. Wish I lived in the region still -
I live in NE which makes this a little more intense for me. Losing to BB will be a really crappy way to be one and done, the worst possible way. Knocking them out will be a really high high for a wildcard round. I think the Bills are the better team but that does not guarantee they will win. Personally I will be pretty stressed going into it, but this is the fun of sports.

I thought the cafeteria food would have been provided by the team. Who thought Ralph was cheap?
