Calvin Ridley...do they bills go all in!?
Matt_In_NH replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
I kind of like the idea of a guy like McKinnon...a fast RB who has some WR characteristics or a fast WR who has some RB characteristics. I think speed on offense should be a priority especially if McKenzie is not back. I think a guy like Ridley would do ok but is not worth the cap required. There are other more pressing needs. -
Calvin Ridley...do they bills go all in!?
Matt_In_NH replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
There is a fascination with that position..I think just because of Fantasy Football. When it came down to it did the Bills have a hard time finding people to throw to? I would say no. The mix will change for next year, Sanders will likely not be resigned, I bet Beasley is a cap cut and Mckenzie is a FA. So they will need to do something. -
Both had coaching blunders....the comparisons stop there though. One was monumental and in addition to coaching, players choked for Atlanta. You can find many other games where some bad calls flipped a close game.

I would have tried the corner kick to the 3 yard line they have done all year. But they were not allowing kickoff returns in that game. Not just in that situation but all day. I assume they were concerned with their speed. I did not agree with that but I can accept it. The whole prevent defense let them have 20 yards for two plays I cannot wrap my head around what they were thinking. they could have done the everyone hold on the kelce play and would have been forced i to a Hail Mary

How do you know what I think it means? You watched every single snap of every game, great me too and lots of fans. Your eye test means what exactly?

I have a different view. They had a great season. They had a great game in KC earlier in the season. They got some stops yesterday but struggled on 3rd downs and got worn out. The players did enough to win the game, if they just called those last two plays with 13 seconds left better we would be talking about playing the Bengals right now. Not saying they cannot make some kind of incremental improvement but the play calls in certain situations was the problem and I think that can be imrpoved.

Which direction can they go from first in most statistical categories?

How many chances does McDermott have left?
Matt_In_NH replied to Igotbills's topic in The Stadium Wall
If you want McDermott gone you are totally insane. To think coaches cannot make mistakes/evaluate themselves/improve is awful. I cannot explain the defense they called with 13 seconds left but his body of work outweighs the negative by a lot. He has proven he can change his philosophy on 4th downs, he will learn from this. We all wish he and the rest of the staff were better prepared for this situation. There are literally thousands of situations to be prepared for so maybe this forces them to do some additional homework/planning. We have a good organization, blowing it up would be super dumb. -
Isaiah McKenzie aka, Lil Dirty, sounds like he’s moving on
Matt_In_NH replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
He also tweeted he was done for the year when he got benched. Right now he is a FA, we can all speculate what he really means but I would think it is possible he could be back. Unless the Bills have told him we are moving on which I dont think we have seen. -
It was a hard loss AND we closed the gap
Matt_In_NH replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
The reality is the Chiefs are going to their 4th straight AFC C game and probably 3rd straight SB. The Bills are a bump on their way to a couple of those so until you beat them in the playoffs and win your own SB, you wont be as good. Allen will also be judged second for the same reason until he wins the whole thing, it is just how it is. We don't need moral victories, its time to win championships. -

Maybe and maybe not.....his numbers returning kicks are decent, so he that adds value. It also could be reasonable someone saw the Patriots game and sees the aptitude. It seemed like he got offers last year and came back to Buffalo for less (no idea if that is really true and how much less) but he may have felt like he would get the opportunity to grow and increase his value more than he did. Anway, if he goes, his skill set needs to be replaced, hopefully with someone who is just as fast but a little more physical. -
Honestly what do you do moving forward?
Matt_In_NH replied to Milanos Milano's topic in The Stadium Wall
Grow the coaching staff and be more prepared for times such as 13 seconds left when the other team has three timeouts and needs a fg. growth kind set. Figure out how/why this team was so inconsistent mid season and get a higher seed. -
Its not the players, the reason the Bills lost was the playcalling with 13 seconds left. This game is squarely on whoever called that prevent defense or whatever you call it to literally GIVE them the FG attempt. Just like Tennessee lost squarely because of their awful QB. They did so much right, this was the game they needed to get by and in the end, it was a strategic blunder.

Was offense the problem?
-
I think he spent some time hogging Reid after the game too.
-
I get your point but right now this feels like hell. This fan base does not deserve this. I was ok with a loss. I knew that was a real possibility. But to lose that way is not something I can move on from right now. The QB was perfect and with the number one defense you find a way to lose still. Can’t believe it

I don't think he is a good HC candidate to begin with. Last night is probably the nail in the coffin for his chances. Although, do we know if this is squarely on him, not sure how much McD would be involved there.

Man I am in a foul mood today. I had some things happen personally over the years that has helped put things like Bills football in perspective. For years I have not let it affect my personal life/get moody over a game. Today is gonna be hard. Everything is pissing me off today and I just woke up an hour ago.

Are coaches always to blame - McD, Frazier & Daboll?
Matt_In_NH replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall
The defense they were in with 13 seconds left sucked. No one will convince me otherwise. They just gave them a fg attempt -
2nd Worst Loss in Bills History!! Only wide right was worse!
Matt_In_NH replied to BuffaloButt's topic in The Stadium Wall
Incredible insight here -
If Daboll had got hired last year and we had a new OC and had the year we had the guy would have been destroyed by Bills Mafia in the regular season. Whoever takes over has huge shows to fill and will face a ton of scrutiny.

They were afraid of music city miracle 2. Unfortunately they got it anyway
