Was he at his retirement party?

I don’t think this is a fair analogy. Home runs is one small simple thing. Playing qb is completely different, the qb is more than anything the position most responsible for team success in any sport. Allen leads the league in air yards and turnovers and at the bottom in RAC. Placement pace and taking the easy options can improve those things. I know it’s not cool to suggest Allen should improve in some areas but I feel that way. I also think he is the greatest thing that has happened to this franchise in a generation. I just think there is something to the thought that Allen tries to do too much too often. He does not need to. Maybe the right personality at coordinator would be able to influence that.

Hines gets like 4.8M and has no dead cap. He could easily be a cap casualty, I dont think the Bills can afford a 4.8M kick returner. With the cap situation I see Cook, a vet on a min deal such as Duke Johnson and a late rounder/UDFA, possibly another low priced vet.

How many teams can Singletary start on

That works both ways, the market value thing is just not very accurate. -

I don't see the Bills paying Hines 4.8 million next year and I dont see them paying Singletary 5.5M or anywhere near it. Not saying they are not worth that but decisions have to be made. I think you will see a late round or UFA and a vet like Duke on a min deal along with Cook. -

Agree with everything but the bolded. He has like the highest fumble rates in the league. -
Every off season there are threads where people try to find parallels to the 90's teams. Who really wants that to repeat itself? History does not have to repeat itself, there are countless ways good teams go through their lifecycle and just because you remember one from 30 years ago, it has zero bearing on any current one. I live in NE and here everyone is alwasy thinking they have the next Brady, last year it was Mac, this year it was Zappe coming off the bench after an injury like Brady did. Enjoy the ride is what I say....part of sports is it is unpredictable, there are no guarantees but I will take my chances with 17. Not saying the OL can not be improved but what about the running game was not decent? The only thing I can say is they don't do it enough, it is very successful when they actually run. I think they should run more but this team has scored the most points the last three years so it is hard to argue it matters.

Eagles olineman indicted on rape and kidnapping charges

Both of those were within 24 hours of the game for one and sample size of two means very little -
Not me, not even a little....he will likely suck which will be fun. If he is good we will have to listen to him for the long term...... I dont have a need for him on my TV at all for any reason.

Should QB Compensation Be Carved Out of the Salary Cap?
Matt_In_NH replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall
Every team has to decide where to spend their resources. The GM has to decide if giving piles of money to good but not great players is the right thing. They can decide not to and then have more resources. Teams with the best qbs have been winning the Super Bowl with the system as is. Yes you have to make decisions on players like trading tyreek hill understanding what that really means to your chances of going to the Super Bowl. -
Should QB Compensation Be Carved Out of the Salary Cap?
Matt_In_NH replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall
Need more details but I don’t get what problem this solves. Would qb have no cap? what does a carve out mean? That basically eliminates the cap which is already able to be manipulated significantly. Depending on the details I ca not see the owners interested. Revenues are split 50/50. What would the new ratio be? qbs have always had a bigger percentage of the cap. Has the qb as a percentage of the cap gone up? The unintended consequence is the rich owners would have the best qbs. Guys would force their way out like Watson did in Houston. Why not just eliminate the cap? -
Would you resign Edmunds or a tackle?

The 11M came from Spotrac which has a market value on some guys. I watched that last year for a bunch of guys and they are way under what guys actually sign for in free agency. If they can get him for that, you have to try and make it work, but I bet he gets way above that. -

Reading their board, they have dismissed the Bills as a contender. At this point I look at it that you need to get past Cinci and KC. They were in the SB last year and almost won it and handed the Bills their second playoff home loss in the SB era. IMO they deserve respect even though I think it is fair to think the Bills are right there or better overall. -
You need to draft well and the guy needs the opportunity to play. Not saying one way or the other how good or bad the Bills draft was but the roster going into the draft was set for starters except maybe CB. The Chiefs were in a different situation with more needs, guys got the opportunity more in KC. The Bills are going to be forced into a similar position with the cap.....they are going to NEED more production from the draft class next year. The Chiefs are in a different part of the cap life cycle and did a bit of a reset by offloading Hill. Bernard did not show much for where he was drafted and there was the situation with Araiza. It is not at all clear the 2022 crop is bad. In fact in 2021 and 2022 the Bills pretty much were not going to keep everyone...they started with a deep roster. Guys like Jack Anderson, WIldgoose did not make it but are still in the league with other teams. Not saying they are world beaters but the Bills were deep, they wont be as deep going into next year but that does not mean the expectations should be a lot lower. It gives them more opportunity to let guys play and maybe even steal from someone else for a change.

Purdy torn UCL out 6 months, seeking 2nd opinion

Two UCL injuries in 5 years is kind of odd. Not sure this will never come back for him. -

I would not do much with Oliver that involves giving him more guaranteed money even over years, he is impactful at times but mostly not, don't see that changing. Extending Milano makes too much sense assuming the numbers are reasonable. Being an all pro season, the timing is not ideal. Bottom line, the over extending is catching up with the Bills. They could do all of these, and add in some more void money to take cap from future years for today. All the cap in future years we will want to use then too. Just doing Allen gets you out of the hole and allows you to sign the draft class. In general, I would like to avoid a worse situation in a future year. This team is going to have to get by with aging vets in some positions on min deals and rookies. They are going to have to find some diamonds in the rough like they did with Poyer. Spend spend spend on shiny objects is not how you do it long term.
