Bengals DC Lou Anarumo interviewing for Cards HC
Matt_In_NH replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
Reading their board, they have dismissed the Bills as a contender. At this point I look at it that you need to get past Cinci and KC. They were in the SB last year and almost won it and handed the Bills their second playoff home loss in the SB era. IMO they deserve respect even though I think it is fair to think the Bills are right there or better overall. -
You need to draft well and the guy needs the opportunity to play. Not saying one way or the other how good or bad the Bills draft was but the roster going into the draft was set for starters except maybe CB. The Chiefs were in a different situation with more needs, guys got the opportunity more in KC. The Bills are going to be forced into a similar position with the cap.....they are going to NEED more production from the draft class next year. The Chiefs are in a different part of the cap life cycle and did a bit of a reset by offloading Hill. Bernard did not show much for where he was drafted and there was the situation with Araiza. It is not at all clear the 2022 crop is bad. In fact in 2021 and 2022 the Bills pretty much were not going to keep everyone...they started with a deep roster. Guys like Jack Anderson, WIldgoose did not make it but are still in the league with other teams. Not saying they are world beaters but the Bills were deep, they wont be as deep going into next year but that does not mean the expectations should be a lot lower. It gives them more opportunity to let guys play and maybe even steal from someone else for a change.

Purdy torn UCL out 6 months, seeking 2nd opinion

Two UCL injuries in 5 years is kind of odd. Not sure this will never come back for him. -
2023 Offseason Primer: Cap Tickets (Restructure)
Matt_In_NH replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would not do much with Oliver that involves giving him more guaranteed money even over years, he is impactful at times but mostly not, don't see that changing. Extending Milano makes too much sense assuming the numbers are reasonable. Being an all pro season, the timing is not ideal. Bottom line, the over extending is catching up with the Bills. They could do all of these, and add in some more void money to take cap from future years for today. All the cap in future years we will want to use then too. Just doing Allen gets you out of the hole and allows you to sign the draft class. In general, I would like to avoid a worse situation in a future year. This team is going to have to get by with aging vets in some positions on min deals and rookies. They are going to have to find some diamonds in the rough like they did with Poyer. Spend spend spend on shiny objects is not how you do it long term. -
8.5 Million in 15 years...not too bad for someone who "sucks"

Gronk can teach Knox how to drop a forearm from the top rope!

Just want to point out the concussion thing can be misleading....people think they have information but in reality you have very little. Most guys try to hide their concussions and when they happen, they put themselves at bigger risk but they are undocumented so guy A has had 0 concussions...his head is fine, or so everyone thinks! There could be another guy who takes concussions more serious and is not afraid to speak up and do what is right for themselves, he has 6 documented concussions and everyone thinks his head is mush when in reality he could be better off than the guys hiding them. There are a lot more hidden concussions that documented concussions. Sure when a guy is knocked out we all know that happened but most are not that variety. There have been many former players talk about how they got around the protocol, it is real and it happens a lot. Guys do not want to miss time because in the heat of the moment they want to be there for their teammates or in some cases, maybe many they fear getting cut out of the league since availability is important to teams. Soccer players get CTE from heading the ball, how many documented concussions do we know of from heading a soccer ball?

What Are Your Expectations For The 2023 Season?
Matt_In_NH replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Steelers, Ravens, Jets with Rogers, Dolphins, Broncos can only go up...everyone will be better than us. THe Chiefs took a step back, they had to trade Hill now they suck -
And you need some for the draft class. There is not much to be done this year. They will probably do some more void year stuff that could generate even more but that seems like a bad idea
-
cutting him can create a reasonable amount of space. Others who could generate space are more non negotiable. I agree with you he should not be cut. And cutting him just makes another hole to fill.
-
I agree with you about the 13 second thing for sure but W/L constantly referred to as QB stats and while it is not the end all it is justified, the QB has the biggest influence on wins and losses compared to any other position. This will be talked about in NFL circles until it changes, I understand you may not like it or agree with it. In the end Mahomes got them in FG position and let an OT drive to win it. That is a win for Mahomes but I don't see how you can really call it a loss by Allen the way it went down.

Dawkins, Saffold and Knox added to Pro Bowl
Matt_In_NH replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
In my world neither deserve to get credit for a pro bowl season. -
I think he is 5-2 in post season with some road wins. Vs Allen is 4-4 with no road wins and 0-3 vs Mahomes/Burrow. Josh's stats are better. I agree Mahomes is one when you consider playoffs. I like Allen over Burrow but he did not show it last week.

Dawkins, Saffold and Knox added to Pro Bowl
Matt_In_NH replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
Everyone's a probowler! Wednesday Bates and Spencer Brown will be in and we can have the whole line. I thought the OL is a big problem? I have no problem with injury replacements but they should not get credit for pro bowl election like they do. It is ridiculous. Mac Jones is a pro bowler from last year. -
If he’s not then it is just another hole to fill along with the FAs with little cap. Something tells me he will be there the next two years.
-
Drafting becomes more important now than the last few years when they had more money to use in FA.

I think the plan is to develop him. He is undersized but so is/was Milano. No guarantees it works out. I think his production would have made him a much higher pick if he had more prototype size.
