Taylor Rapp Signing with Bills
Matt_In_NH replied to hellofellowbillsfans's topic in The Stadium Wall
I read here there is no cap? Whatever it is, many people here want us to go to cap hell just for 2023. -
What would you trade for Jerry Jeudy?
Matt_In_NH replied to RocCityRoller's topic in The Stadium Wall
You can have six and still not wi the SB. Being singularly focused in wrs seems narrow sighted to be. -

I see your point but Jeudy makes Davis a backup. He is on a one year deal at this point. Jeudy is the better talent, so it is an upgrade over Davis and you get a 5th year. I think you meant weapons not targets. I dont believe an upgrade at WR really makes all the difference either, but if you can get better you should but also consider the contract, etc. The Chiefs won the SB with Kelce and a bunch of guys. For me to win the SB, they have the roster to do it, they have an overall good strategy, its more tactical in game decisions by the coaching staff and QB that will really make the difference. -

Bills Draftees Don't Contribute Much
Matt_In_NH replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wow Vegas is a ridiculous outlier. And they have had more than their fair share of first rounders. Indictment on Mayock and a good lesson on what a media clown is actually capable of. as far as the bills I think you have to consider the roster going into the draft. The bills have not had huge holes I. Recent years. They have a good deep roster so it’s harder for a rookie ti get snaps. I think will start changing -
Josh Allen improving decision making would help them a lot more that trading for Deandre Hopkins.

Will DeAndre Hopkins be available this offseason?
Matt_In_NH replied to NeverOutNick's topic in The Stadium Wall
The bolded is what I was responding to not "wanting a super bowl". I guess your take seems kind of extreme to me. There is nothing wrong with wanting the team to win the Super Bowl, I don't think there is a single member of Bills Mafia who does not want that. However, just because they dont win the Superbowl in any one year does not mean the organization is inept and a failure. I do think this team is at the point that there is only one thing left to really accomplish and that is a Super Bowl. They have established an ability to find talent more than other teams, they do have a coaching staff that puts out a great offense and a great defenses routinely. They have completely changed the culture of the organization which is very hard to do. Yes they have not gotten it done in the playoffs for one reason or another (coaching IMO) and they need to find a way to get past that. I also think the current staff should stay in place, they need to improve and they at least say that is what their focus is. I just think the amount of joy/fun over the last three years without a SB win has been great to experience. We have one of the best teams who will be competing for the SB year in and year out. To say a Dick Jauron 7-9 season is equal to a 13-3 season where the three games were lost by like 8 points is is a miserable perspective. There are no guarantees in life, we have a great window here to root for this team, if your perspective is Superbowl or collasal failure, you are signing up to b miserable most of the time. Take a step back an smell the roses, enjoy the ride, it's been good and hopefully will get better. -

What a terrible perspective. You sound like a miserable person. -
Lamar Jackson wants guarantees that exceed Watson contract
Matt_In_NH replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Obviously not, he believes he has more value than he does and he is going to lose out because of it most likely. I mean in the grand scheme of things he will be fine, filthy rich and whatnot. But he does not seem like someone who is team first, he is "me first" and teams pick up on that. I mean did he sit out at the end of last season for injury or was that a contract thing? There are rumblings it was about a contract....if true, the guy you want to be your leader left his teammates out to dry and he is the opposite of what you want. Many people I think are loyal to a greater good and agents have to walk them through the business process. But not all... This reminds me of the Leveon Bell thing...he ended up costing himself a lot but turning down what the Steelers were offering. If Lamar does not get an offer it will be very interesting to see how this goes. -

This guy has way overplayed his hand. At this point, any GM h as to have real concerns about this guys decision making and team character. -
I think you have to just go by your board. It is a position they need, there are bigger needs like LB. But after LB I think you can argue WR TE DT S OT are next. So you have to see what is there when it is your pick. If at any point a guy jumps off the list at one of those positions you pull the trigger. I like drafting a WR in the first because their value is so high to get a vet. Find one on a cost controlled deal. OT is similar.

We have to give them a first? That sucks! But hey at least Sweeney is gone

Should we trade Ed Oliver?

If he walks he walks......You want to commit huge dollars to him? I dont -
Should we trade Ed Oliver?
Matt_In_NH replied to Floridagatorsbuffalobills's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is the main reason to keep him. If he is going to take a step, this is the year. Trading him will benefit the cap but the return cannot be expected to be much. Someone would have to really want him at that price. -
How did the Patriots maintain a top team for 17 years?
Matt_In_NH replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
For me, the Patriots showed you don't have to retain every player who is good (Seymour, Chandler Jones for example there were many others) and young to stay competitive and win SB's. Good coaching/culture, a great QB and sometimes boring but consistent gameplans that take advantage of matchups is how its done. -
Well then go blab away in the MLB thread
-
I think they need to start this year and not have completely bare cupboards. Keep in mind Phillips is gone and right now there is no replacement. I think they can extend Jones, draft a guy this year. And then draft/FA again next year.
-
Did you read the OP? Same is true for Jones and Settle.
-
Cool so we will have one DT, sounds good.
-
The Bills have D Jones, Oliver and Settle all in their final year. Then they have a bunch of practice squad guys. So not one guy under contract for 2024. I don't hear a lot about DT as a need position, it is. They should be looking in the draft to get younger, they should extend Daquon Jones if they can work that out. Thoughts?
-
uhhhhhhhhhhhhh gross! That is disgusting
-
There is no cap so this was totally possible and should have happened
