  1. Takin' my time, choosin' my lines Tryin' to decide what to do Looks like my stop, don't wanna get off Got myself hung up on you Seems to me you don't wanna talk about it Seems to me you just turn your pretty head and walk away
  2. haha @ArdmoreRyno BEAM UP UP SCOTTY........Come Lord Jesus. Take your pick. I realize that a subforum sports chatroom is a very limited sample size as pertaining to the Gun Culture, Gun advocates and other intelligent rational people invested in this topic have to say......I just want to say that while a chasm exists this issue is NOT insurmountable....I see where there could be concessions on both sides for a resolution where each side will contribute to the solution. I have HOPE. I don't own a gun never will own a gun. Do I want to strip gun owners of their guns? HELL NO. Emphatic NO. Do I think moderate people politically on either side of the aisle have much more in common with each other than Not in regards to this issue? YES What say YOU NRA and other gun lobbyists who are pulling these politicos like puppets on a string...toe that party line or face Our WRATH......TCK NO room for Any concessions...eh?......smh Id be interested in hearing any opines regarding how they REALLY think this guns situation in the USA will end up. In your heart of hearts. I will predict that there will wailing and gnashing of teeth with unhappiness of any proposed solutions...no side getting all they would have hoped to accomplish I think that incidences that predict any person from acting out in such horrific fashion..things like hurting animals as young people....NEED TO GET IT REPORTED and hence FLAGGED in the system wherein gun buyers need apply. I think NOONE is coming to take your Guns away it is a MYTH that you are buying into hook line and sinker because of fear...........its NOT ever going to be a reality in the US of A...take away peoples guns Nope ridiculous concept...You will never convince me otherwise , limit sales, ban sales or whatever ends up happening GUNS ARE HERE TO STAY...........Even the new Canadian law isn't removing guns from owners, it is sales forward that will be impacted if Im understanding that correctly. I do NOT buy this slippery slope argument its again appealing to fear not common sense. IN THE USA. and Finally this is such a hot bed issue that the overall judgment of the people needs prevail for ALL OUR GOOD...either way we just want PEACE right? And I pray the other side will concede the decisions as being fairly reached........yeah right lol pffft haha again welcome to politics in the US of A. I am cynical but cling to my hope there is action to limit mass gun violence.....more guns to protect against more guns what could possibly go wrong???? I just dont think its logical. This will be a definite check in "popcorn thread" waiting to see what does end up happening....I pray no more tragedy for a while PLEASE thanks for listening. m
  3. Well, I'm a-running down the road Tryin' to loosen my load I've got seven women on my mind Four that wanna own me Two that wanna stone me One says she's a friend of mine Take it easy, take it easy Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy Lighten up while you still can Don't even try to understand Just find a place to make your stand And take it easy
  4. so much fear on both sides. Gun advocates are resolute that reform means they want ALL the guns, No compromise is needed or necessary. Take away all guns **clutch those pearls gun owners*** @-@ that would never in a million years happen but the fear is so Strong.....I just dont buy that rhetoric at all......... You want to talk about Fear yeah there is a lot of that rampant lately...the police afraid to breech the shooters space...no SWAT Teams nothing? Lot of good guns did that day......smh Im sure all those officers were packing fully loaded guns. ...Im venting the whole situation SUCKS Really...................Really............Bad.
  5. to the red Correctamundo I concur. as far as the intense details that such a discussion entails BRAVO Im all for Discussion and what this issue needs imo is someone thinking outside of the box with an innovative creative intelligent COMPROMISE. I dont see this issue being easy to solve....Clearly.......but the consequences of adding more guns to the mix........dark web, the internet, zealots breeding grounds, buy your AR-15 and get busy........hmmmmmm what could possibly go wrong......LOTS. You make a lot of sense thank you for the convo.
  6. Im sorry but I think calling someone a fool is harsh you can't speak with 1000% certainty that less available assault weapons WOULDN'T save lives. Lets just remain status quo and see what happens........the existing laws are working sooo well.....Sarcasm indeed* Props for safe gun storage. Its the people who shoot the guns but it is a weapon with an intentded purpose and it is to KILL. Thats just my opinion. If it has other uses that would be fascniating to me......
  7. I absolutely Agree that not everything you read is true/truth. B ut it is clearly indicative of trains of thought at work within our country. This is a Hot Button issue. Rational thoughtful people on both sides are often short shrifted. What I mean by that is I think Our more moderate rational voices are unheard above the NRA's din. I am by no means an expert on Guns. I fear the power they can unleash on the innocent and the perp you need defending from equally. I'd as likely shoot myself as another person due to sheer incompetence as a gun owner. potentially my own. I own it* in any case I post here to spur discussion not as any expert. My position does fall on the less of the assault weapons equals a safer USA I think Yes. I really am not saying my opinion is more valid than a gun owners. The allure of these weapons has wrought destruction in our country. To limit their availibility I think is logical. *shrugs* Make their violence harder to obtain, even the ammo. BRILLIANT........who is listening??? Id even go along with other rational thoughtful practical ideas as a measure of whats best for the public good. But even that noone can fully agree what that means. It's FRUSTRATING hope that answered your question its my best reply. m
  8. Walter Nirenberg Uvalde: AR-15 Buffalo: AR-15 Boulder: AR-15 Orlando: AR-15 Parkland: AR-15 Las Vegas: AR-15 Aurora, CO: AR-15 Sandy Hook: AR-15 Waffle House: AR-15 San Bernardino: AR-15 Midland/Odessa: AR-15 Poway Synagogue: AR-15 Sutherland Springs: AR-15 Tree of Life Synagogue: AR-15 It's the guns.
  9. one last thought for you from your post. It is the Reasonable voices in NUMBERS that will make a change aka VOTING. I really think so. And I think this issue at this moment in time is (I really hope) the tipping point. Where folks like yourself and I who dont ususally write in political chatrooms are speaking up ...wherein before you are 100% correct..the loudest voice DOES seem to carry the most weight. If the Voices of disgust and change aren't acknowledged by our Votes that you as an individual have done Nothing but blow hot air into the universe. It needs to be Loud and Clear actionable possible for most every person in our country. Having said that the divisiveness of this issue is clear. What is also clear to me anyway is that a change needs to be a win win scenario (each side thinking they won) or it will never work. The trialism in politics is a HUGE stumbling block. your opinion matters. Thanks for posting. m
  10. This was reposted to me by teachers in public schools. 2 ex principals in fact. #Roxanne Corona Edmunds QUOTE" As educators, we have done our part. We have fenced in school playgrounds and locked all doors except one single point of entry. We have added a a double entry to the front door and added bulletproof glass. We have led our students through active shooter drills and watched the scared looks in our student’s eyes as they cowered in the darkened classroom. Research tells us that drills are not good for students emotional well-being, but we want to keep them safe. We have added door stops to classroom doors and covered any classroom door windows. We have partnered with law enforcement to add metal detectors and school safety support officers. Teachers and administrators have completed hours of active shooter trainings and collaborated with county and state law enforcement officers to hold active shooter simulations. Every teacher continues to place her life on the line for her students with the understanding that she may be the next teacher who dies protecting her students. We have done our part. Now, it’s time for our legislative representatives to do theirs. 1. Ban military-style assault weapons. 2. Require universal background checks for all gun sales. 3. Close gun sale loopholes and require background checks on all commercial gun sales. 4. Remove the prohibition on gun violence research by the CDC. 5. Ban bump stocks and limit the size of ammunition clips. 6. Pass an Extreme Risk Protection Order Act, a “red flag” bill, to allow relatives and law enforcement to temporarily remove firearms from an individual in crisis -END QUOTE what do you think?
  11. Bingo. I agree with this! It brings up a whole new dynamic to the discussion (right to choose) as opposed to gun laws. Apples and oranges I dont like it. It reads to me like just more rhetoric intending to deflect the topic away from Guns and on to abortion. SMH THIS is the kind of rhetoric that isn t helpful or productive but it surely is one way of snarkily looking at this. Im not for stifling speech just more in hopes of steering discourse towards ways the 2 sides can somehow come to agreeance on Something...something so important. Compromise. whata concept. Im paying attention to this issue. Somethings gotta give.....
  12. what a ***** storm within the state of Texas right now. Not only tremendous grief but the police response aftermath.....the not making entry into that school. Shocking. I think. Heads are gonna roll I would predict from that *shrugs* doesn't change squat for those kids inside. Lawyers are going to earn big fat fees, multiple families lives are ruined ..**edits in a snarky hip wiggle just for emphasis after the tolling of the bells**** (NRA Convention) that was sad I thought. cringeworthy. In any case You may as well as ask Christans to change the Bible as GUN advocates to concede at all nothing The zealots will give inch zero. No longer acceptable I dont think people/Americans as a whole are going to stand for it any more. VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE These NRA advocates/zealots are as staunch a defender of their laws as Christians are regarding scripture. That's my perception I hope Im wrong. Somethings gotta give status quo cannot fly any more....... ..NRA advocates arming up MORE......more guns less doorways in schools...am I being punked right now? Where are voices of reason and change coming from right now. Certainly NOT Texas.
  13. When you were young, and your heart was an open book You used to say, "Live and let live" (You know you did, you know you did, you know you did) But if this ever-changing world in which we live in Makes you give in and cry Say, "Live and let die" Live and let die
  14. I have a friend here in san diego whose son became seriously mentally ill while away at college *schizophrenia) and perpertrated a massive shooting in Aurora CO movie theater during the showing of Batman. She is devoting her life in retirement to bring awareness to mental health issues in youth. This interview recently re aired here in san diego ABC television . Due to all these shootings around the country she is flashbacked to that horrible event in her own life when these shootings occur. I really pray that some way of keeping guns out of the hands of people who wish to wreak destruction. That mental illness education reach ears that need to hear it and it might save someones very life. Midterm elections are soon coming to SoCal. Im carefully checking candidates voting record before I cast my ballot. I pray these politicians will choose what is best for their constituents and NOT just their lobbying benefactors. https://www.10news.com/news/local-news/san-diego-news/may-is-mental-health-awareness-month-10news-speaks-with-arlene-holmes
