  1. No, it made it tougher to retain your players and therefore affected depth. For example, the 90's Bills had quality backups due to strong drafting in middle to late rounds. Not surprisingly, those players were some of the first signed by other teams when FA first began. So teams are now forced to rely more on less expensive ( younger ) players as depth rather than veterans experienced in that team's system. It has affected depth, but I doubt that it reduced money spent. I'm pretty sure it has increased the percentage that is going to the players.

not the Bills depth, we can't even put out 22 quality starters let alone locking up excellent backups.
  2. I'm probably in the minority here but I love all this bickering. I consider this a bi-product of going from Rex and his relaxed atmosphere to someone trying to take control. Personally, I would be trying to agitate to see who can handle it and who can't and slash the ones who won't confirm. To me football is like war, coaches lead and players fight. If you have soldiers who won't follow orders or stay disciplined you will load every time. I would completely dismantle a team to establish total command and control if I had to if I was in charge.

  3. Talent is Talent. It doesn't matter if the coaches draft them or inherited them on the roster. If they trade Sammy, why would anyone watch this team next year. Only Bills fan would. Do we trust a first year head coach and GM that much. This would be the dumbest decision in bills history, especially knowing that we can franchise Sammy next year. It would also show that the owners are over their heads.

They could throw puppies off a balcony but if they build a contending team in the next 3 years everyone will love and claim to have loved them from day 1.

  4. It's so nice to finally draft a QB that knows how to play the position the way it is supposed to be played...Excellent mechanics, stepping up into the pocket, hitting receivers over the middle and in stride...I almost forgot what a real QB looked like...he may or may not have the upside of the other QBs drafted, but right now, in my mind, he is the best QB in the 2017 draft.

His mechanics still need some work, but at least he doesn't need to learn them like he's never played the QB position at least.
