Anyone else been surprised by the quality of coaching?
-
You would think almost 20 years of losing would toughen up all the snowflakes who get upset over a slight jab.
-
That's an uncomfortable statement for those with a negative agenda and a player that is respected.Kyle: "From being around Sean and knowing what we're trying to do, I've grown to trust him and what we're doing."
-
This entire thread is just assumptions. People download their fears of the team sucking into Kyle quitting and their love for Kyle to knowing what he feels and thinks.
-
Complain that the results never change but as soon as we change the way we do things we complain it's different.
-
true but they all came up last year just like next year's draft class for us. Since the NHL allows you to stash players in feeder leagues for years it's actually a fairly appropriate analogy. Not an exact parallel because the Leafs had a number of young talented prospects in their system that are were a big part of their success last season and moving into the future. McBeane OTOH are treading away younger, talented players on cheaper contracts.
-
Reminds me of the Leafs in the first year under Babcock. Use a team of veterans to establish a system, culture and stable structure so when when they brought in a ton of kids the next year they had the leadership and framework in place to acclimate them to play the right way.

Why is it everyone is so concerned by a massive long ball? Very few QB's unload 40+ yard bombs in a game.
-
I think Bills fans have unrealistic expectations of a QB because the lack of a great one has always been the excuse for 20 years of generally poor management decisions. Great QB's can toil in mediocre team success and mediocre QB's can have great success if they are in good situation and part of judging that has to do with tempering expectations with the situation being a factor.
-
As complexity goes up, so does the IQ needed on the field. These are athletes, not PhD's we're talking about here.
-
Do you expect coaches to come in and try something they have never done? Not every coach is as knowledgeable as a common bills fan when it comes to football. So true 26. Every guy is so enamored with his prescious system.
The defenses they've faced have been vanilla as well. You'd think they could manage to look competent running a few basic plays. I'm not sure I would give this staff so much credit that they will know what to do with Taylor or put him in good situations . I think it's sink or swim for TT in their vaunted " system" .
Coaches are often more arrogant than the players. Inferiority complex or something

Players win games coaches lose them...
-
you could put EJ under Coryells system and it doesn't make him Fouts. Talent still counts for something. So far McDermott's offensive philosophy looks like Dick Jauron.
The talent level is low, the line is bad in pass protection, the WRs are mediocre, leaning on one 29 year old RB.

Agreed, but in this case it was someone else buying junk bonds... Maybe we should all give them a chance to draft first before bashing them? At least they seem to understand the value of having more lottery tickets.Making bad decisions and buying junk stocks in the first place is the issue I have. I don't care that we traded him and got what we could. Trading players is the easy part anyway. Drafting good players and filling holes is not. I'm not going to praise anyone yet until I see what they actually do with all of these picks.
-
I'm saying they got something back for nothing = good asset management. I wasn't being sarcastic. Are you saying the Bills should have schemed their defense around Ragland?
Excuse me while I piss my pants laughing.
Ragland is a 3-4 guy. Plain and simple. Better to get something now than to cut him in a week.

If you buy 1,000 stocks worth $10 each last year but today they are worth $3 each and have been falling ever since you bought them. Is it better to sit and wait for it to rebound back to $10 or assume it's going to completely bottom out since it has showed absolutely no sign of going back up?1) I know
2) he was a 2nd round pick last year that we just dumped for a mid round pick. The fact that we had a 3rd stringer makes it even worse. These picks should be part of our core and not struggling to see the field. I get the current regime is trying to clean up Whaley's mess but I'm holding off praise until I see what they do with all these picks.
-
Teams don't give away picks in the NFL, the fact we are loading up with them as we are is encouraging to me.
-
I love the double standard too of complaining that we suck yet all our sucky players are worth a mini fortune.
Would you say adding more future picks makes that more or less likely to happen?McD and BB need to go all in for a QB next draft. Otherwise this is all pointless.
-
Probably a great argument why you don't flush those picks down the toilet for WR and LB when you don't have a QB or secondary in place.1st and 2nd round picks should be the core of your team. We get rid of them like we don't need them. McD and BB better come away with a great QB prospect and several other impact players over the next few years or they will be gone too.
-
Anyone else enjoy the meltdown associated with cleaning up the mess Whaley left?
-
Why risk them dwindling further in value by keeping them in a bad fit?Beane is dumping young players with potential at their lowest value. Sammy, Darby, and now Ragland.
This is poor value, and the pattern here by Beane is troubling.
-
The mistake was drafting him in the first place with a 2nd, not trading him for the 4th.
-
How else can you build a team in a cap world? But the team isn't going to be very good this season and it takes while for draft picks to have an impact, if they do at all.
-
so we should try no plan since other plans failed? Maybe we shouldn't draft players since players in the past have been busts.Every failed coach/GM we had before had a plan and a vision. Matt Millen had a process too.
