  1.

Not an exact parallel because the Leafs had a number of young talented prospects in their system that are were a big part of their success last season and moving into the future. McBeane OTOH are treading away younger, talented players on cheaper contracts.

true but they all came up last year just like next year's draft class for us. Since the NHL allows you to stash players in feeder leagues for years it's actually a fairly appropriate analogy.
  2. I think Bills fans have unrealistic expectations of a QB because the lack of a great one has always been the excuse for 20 years of generally poor management decisions. Great QB's can toil in mediocre team success and mediocre QB's can have great success if they are in good situation and part of judging that has to do with tempering expectations with the situation being a factor.

  3. So true 26. Every guy is so enamored with his prescious system.

The defenses they've faced have been vanilla as well. You'd think they could manage to look competent running a few basic plays. I'm not sure I would give this staff so much credit that they will know what to do with Taylor or put him in good situations . I think it's sink or swim for TT in their vaunted " system" .

Coaches are often more arrogant than the players. Inferiority complex or something

Do you expect coaches to come in and try something they have never done? Not every coach is as knowledgeable as a common bills fan when it comes to football.
  4. Making bad decisions and buying junk stocks in the first place is the issue I have. I don't care that we traded him and got what we could. Trading players is the easy part anyway. Drafting good players and filling holes is not. I'm not going to praise anyone yet until I see what they actually do with all of these picks.

Agreed, but in this case it was someone else buying junk bonds... Maybe we should all give them a chance to draft first before bashing them? At least they seem to understand the value of having more lottery tickets.
  5. 1) I know

    2) he was a 2nd round pick last year that we just dumped for a mid round pick. The fact that we had a 3rd stringer makes it even worse. These picks should be part of our core and not struggling to see the field. I get the current regime is trying to clean up Whaley's mess but I'm holding off praise until I see what they do with all these picks.

If you buy 1,000 stocks worth $10 each last year but today they are worth $3 each and have been falling ever since you bought them. Is it better to sit and wait for it to rebound back to $10 or assume it's going to completely bottom out since it has showed absolutely no sign of going back up?
  6. 1st and 2nd round picks should be the core of your team. We get rid of them like we don't need them. McD and BB better come away with a great QB prospect and several other impact players over the next few years or they will be gone too.

Probably a great argument why you don't flush those picks down the toilet for WR and LB when you don't have a QB or secondary in place.
