  1. WTH cost did NFL owners incur? Do they not have lawyers on retainer which is basically prepaid lawyer work when needed? Or do they not have full time lawyers working for them that are paid anyway? Is this some kind of liberal accounting argument like when US goes to war and suddenly those opposed site all the Military expenses as part of the war effort without deducting the costs of those same members training/lodging/eating/medical etc etc for being in military anyway. It is only a couple million. Jerry probably spent more on his face surgeries. He will be OK.
  2. If Bortles is worth 22.5 mill avg then Cousins is worth 25 to 27 mill easy.
  3. Did you know Ryan Fitzpatrick went to Howard?? HOWARD COMMUNITY COLLEGE.
  4. Sammy is a little soft no doubt. But I would talk to him and his agent and see what is up. Sammy for 7 mill a year is a good deal to keep him out of La La land New England.
  5. He has shown the "how not to maximize his value as a free agent" as good as anyone has ever. Who the hell was advising him last year? Robert (my goal is to be in HOF someday) Royal???
  6. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/tyrod-taylor-7899/ click on the little red X's on right for details. What is lacking on this site is how it all works if he is traded during season when he has been paid weekly salary already. It would change every week I guess as to dead cap etc etc....... Keep in mind 19 20 21 are mirages as he is a UFA after 2018 without a contract extension negotiated.
  7. The others explained it pretty well. Basically he worked outside the cap. Holding the Bills to not spending any more "actual cash" then the salary cap number. Even though he could have spent a lot more as they never spent what would have been allowed on a per year basis in regards to salary cap. An amount that can be mega millions over the cap in actual cash outlay if they would have signed premium FA's and issued big sign bonuses like other teams routinely did. They still did contracts the same as always like other teams. Sign bonuses amortized forward and properly loading yearly salaries per the rules. Just up to yearly cap cash outlay. So Bills would show they had mega cap space per league salary cap calculations per year, but since Ralph was paying out "in real cash" at the salary cap level already, he would not spend(effectively borrowing on future years) to sign players with expiring contracts and for FA's. This effectively made the Bills a team that could not compete and led to them being the NFL farmteam like MLB KC Royals and Miami Marlins use to be back in the day. Miami still is now again. Take a look at actual cash outlays for 2017. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cash/2017/ NFL recent years not a great example as in past years, as many teams horde salary cap now since they can carry surplus forward if desired and do not lose it. Lions spent way over cap last year. Cap was 167 mill. With Ralphs cash to cap accounting method he would never bring unused salary cap money forward and just keep the profit. He could never spend money brought forward anyway in his cash to cap method as he refused to spend anymore actual cash then the salary cap number. I do not recall any other teams agreeing to do this except possibly the Bengals. Ralph was hoping it would catch on and became league wide. It failed. What it was successful at was making Bills non competitive for over a decade and keeping Ralphs net worth from dipping below a Billion dollars. Thanks Ralph.
  8. Its Plasma man, we are talking about Plasma, Plasma? Put him in a giant test tube, place on a giant life size spinner, and spin out those red blood cells. He should try Canada Health System next, or that great Cuban Healthcare that kook Michael Moore says is cutting edge.
  9. Yes.......lol.........Bill is too short to be an on-air analyst now. The media game has evolved over the years and has caught up to him.
  10. When do tryouts begin for next Summer Olympics volleyball? That is where he should be.
  11. I did mention it. But yes I did not detail it like what you said. "TT would immediately sign it tying Bills hands for 24+ mill cap hit and salary for TT for 2018." but I guess this was all a joke post. A good one though, and got us talking.
  12. was this a spoof? If so, I bought it hook line and sinker.......lol
  13. Total Fail. First of all TT is not a free agent. He has a contract with Bills for 2018. No way to apply a franchise tag. Only two options: keep him for 18 mill cap hit. Cut/trade him for 7.64 dead cap. You can not cut someone and then apply a tag. For conversation lets say he was a free agent right now and Bills could then apply a tag. Franchise for QB is what? 24+ million this year? TT would immediately sign it tying Bills hands for 24+ mill cap hit and salary for TT for 2018. No other team would likely trade for the guy now as his salary is too high. If Bills trade him now before 3rd league day year, he is a 7.64 mill cap hit. If they trade him after league yr 3rd day Bills have 13.64 cap hit and team taking him in trade have a 10 mill cap hit. He would have more trade value then. side note of tags: changes are brewing. Cousins will file grievance if Deadskins try to tag him to get assets in a trade. Intention of tag is to keep players and work on long term contract. They have clearly shown with the asinine stupid trade and needless over market contract with Alex Smith they have no interest in giving Cousins a market rate deal to stay and can not feign fake interest like they could have had they not already agreed to A Smith deal. Even if they negotiate, Cousins loses leverage as Deadskins would want a contract that is easily tradable and Cousins wants a market contract. Arbitrator would not look kindly on Deadskins for doing this. Not sure how he would rule but UFA would be the most likely rule. This would set a precedent and a right one, as that was the intention of the franchise tag rules. When Bills tagged Byrd they wanted to keep him and tried to sign him. Same with Clements. Peerless Price may have been a feign by the Bills but was plausible.
  14. should be "13 reasons why" style. From the afterlife why Bills moved on.
  15. I assume you mean in general vs NFL teams and not specific to Jets?........as Jets never get a star QB. Sanchez, Todd, G Smith, Hackenberg, many late in career downsider Qb's like Favre, Esiason, N O'Donnell, Testeverde, Vick, Ken O'Brien was probably best and screamed avg almost his whole career. Same with Fitzpatrick having one good year with them. Chad Pennington was OK but noodle arm after injury and never healthy outside one year. Even Namath was a one year wonder and many avg years in regards to team W/L record.
  16. If he fails at game management and time management it will throw me back. If a former b/u QB who learned all this standing next to HC most of his career and did well doing it when playing, fails. Well. It would just be mind numbing. Can't wait to see how he does.
  17. I can play along: I heard Bills are trading pick 21, their 2nd round pick in 2018, TT, Glenn, Shady, Dawkins, Tre White, and Poyer, for Giants 2 pick this year and 2nd round pick next year 2019.
  18. They could still tag him. Right? Transition tag maybe? That has to be the ugliest chest tat since Italians invented chest hair. Could anyone be that religious to think that was needed??
  19. If he would have gotten his head out of his ass long enough the ball out and play reasonable then Trubiskiy would have never seen the field this past year. Instead of letting Trubiski trade up and draft of, light a competitive fire under his ass he wilted and was correctly replaced. It is on him. His future now is as a lower priced back up. He made his millions so props to him for cashing in on the talent he had to offer. He became a FA at the best time and demand made him millions. He is a success in that regard.
  20. OK. Then why was the media reporting a couple weeks back, that Broncos were close to a deal with Cousins.?? https://247sports.com/nfl/denver-broncos/Bolt/Colin-Cowherd-reports-Broncos-close-to-deal-with-Kirk-Cousins-114466121 None of this is allowed until new league year starts.
  21. What do you mean they can't talk contract yet?? Redskins just traded for Alex Smith when the trade period is closed. They also agreed to a contract before they are allowed to talk contract. NFL makes no sense sometimes.
