  1. True, there would be the potential for more of a home field advantage.
  2. I don’t think it would slow down the game at all. Actually it should speed it up. Rather than having officials huddle up for 3 minutes an official in the booth could review the play in 10 seconds. They would also be reviewing the play in real time but would have an all 22 angle which is much easier to see penalties. If they felt the refs missed something they would radio down which would be quicker than running over to the head official. The only time they would use replay would be if the refs felt the need to huddle up. All reviews could be done by the ref in the technology booth and the head official would not have to run over to a screen. I bet it could save about 10 minutes of unnecessary ref conversation a game. There has to be a way to use technology to speed up game play.
  3. Maybe McCoy and Jones is going to have to compete with Foster for WR3.
  4. I always thought there should be a head referee in the booth that can review flags in real time. Quicker than the refs huddling up. He could also call a penalty if the refs missed something. I actually think that would speed up game play. Why do they have to be on the field? With today’s technology one off the field with a radio could be more effective. It so much easier to see the game from the broadcast than on the field. Completely agree, the need to use technology to help out the officials.
  5. They could definitely get lucky and hit on a vet QB. But Barkley is good enough to keep them 6-9 win range if they don’t. Which is exactly why the Bills never had a chance at a QB.
  6. It was a horrible pick. Like I said, he is probably good enough to cause them to win enough games to be in QB purgatory for the next decade. Never pass on a QB.
  7. There is may not be a QB of the future in this draft. And they are not in a good position to select one if there is.
  8. Barkley is special and probably good enough to keep them in QB purgatory for the next decade. You need a QB to win in this league and passing on one is a huge mistake.
  9. Whenever I read something like this I instantly think this person does not watch very much football.
  10. Race is not a factor in QB play and it is embarrassing that you would even bring that up. Tyrod is a very good backup QB in this league. He will be able to keep a team around .500 when a starting QB is injured. Tyrod won’t lose you a game with turnovers but will also not make plays to win a football game (except with his legs in rare instances). If your team wins the turnover battle or has a really good running game you have a really good chance to win with Tyrod. If the running game is average or you tie/lose the turnover battle you are probably going to lose with Tyrod. He is also one of the worst third down QBs in the league. He had a very high 3 and out percentage and rarely converted third and longs because he was an ultra conservative passer. It really comes down to what you value in your QB. If turnovers are your number 1 priority than you could argue Tyrod is better. If you want a playmaker back there than Allen is obviously better. Allen has probably converted more third and longs the last three weeks than Taylor converted all of last season. You could also argue that Allen is the better runner. Now to clarify I don’t think the Allen up to the Houston game was better. The last three weeks though Allen has been a playmaker, elevated the play of the entire offence, shown leadership, completed big time throws into tight windows on third down, and given his team a chance to win. Is he a finished product? Not even close, but he is already better than Tyrod at this early stage of his career. He also beat the team Tyrod couldn’t in the playoffs (rosters were virtually the same).
  11. You need more evidence which is fine. We can restart the discussion in a few weeks when there is more information available.
  12. Allen was definitely more of a project coming out. I graded him as more of a round 2 prospect but he has exceeded my expectations by a lot. I could be wrong, I spend a lot of time watching QBs though. We should find out the next three weeks. I think we are going to see Allen take a step the last three games.
  13. Also, the accuracy thing is way over blown. He needs to work on his accuracy from 0-5 yards. Other than that it has been solid. He won’t ever be Drew Brees accurate but can easily be Big Ben accurate.
  14. I don’t see the similarities at all. I think Allen will be a top 10 QB next year and a top 5 the year after. I am very excited about the progress I have seen watching the games. The amount of big time accurate throws by Allen on third down is very encouraging. We haven’t seen that in Buffalo in a long time. I haven’t seen anything close to that from Jackson.
  15. The stats are the stats. I don’t think anyone would want Jackson over Allen.
  16. Yes but if you watch the games Allen is completing a lot more NFL type throws against very good defences. I believe Jackson has played all bottom 5 defences and is still struggling with passing with a much better supporting cast than Allen. I don’t know if any of our offensive players would start on the Ravens. Maybe McCoy?
  17. I’m interested in how Jackson plays against a better defence. I was not a fan of his in the predraft process. I thought he would have success against bottom 10 defences because they couldn’t handle his running ability but would really struggle is his running game was taken away.
  18. He’s not the same player that he was before the injury, not even close.
  19. I don’t think Edmunds has even filled out yet. I would say for most athletes they hit their prime between 23-27. So I would expect him to develop a lot still. Similar to ever teenager that plays in the NHL. Watkins issue has more to do with his foot. He hasn’t been healthy in years and I don’t know if his foot will ever be the same.
  20. It’s definitely not sustainable. Saying that he has done a good job sliding and I don’t think he will have to run as much with an NFL oline. I saw a stat that he was pressured on 50% of throws and took 22 hits against the Jets. It’s amazing that he can even move the ball with the garbage around him. Nice to see that we have a QB that can elevate a unit though.
  21. Hard to argue. The only unit which took a big step back was the oline. We were much better at running the ball last year. I think Allen has completely outplayed Tyrod though so that may be a wash.
  22. I might try to go to that one. I have always wanted to attend the NFL draft.
  23. They will probably be competing for the WR3 spot next summer.
  24. He’s so young, the fact he can play in the league at his age is amazing. 3 years from now he will still be younger than some rookies.
