McDermott weird comments about Josh Allen
Scott7975 replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Obviously the problem is McKenzie is no longer here. He is the guy that brought fun. No more karaoke during practice for these guys. That and Josh doesn't even do the handshakes anymore -
I'll just add this to this thread.

Its more than the last half of the season. Its not a restricted sample size. It's the last 6 games out of 10. It's called showing a trend. Its exactly why I said in my post "If it were just a game here and there that would be one thing, but it's not. Its 6 straight games of poor offense." They still had poor offense in those two games. If our offense scored 6 points all game and the defense gave up a TD on the last drive of the game after shutting the team out all game. that would be the same saying "the offense put us in position to win." Doesn't mean the offense played good. If the offense wouldn't punt the football and turn it over all game the defense wouldn't be put in that position. It sucks the D couldn't close out. They should be able to but if not for that same D, we would have been blown out those games because the offense wasn't even moving the ball most of the game. When they did, they turned it over. I don't care about last year. I care about this year. Why you are showing me sample size from last year, I don't know. What Kurt and you are talking about is not the same thing as I am talking about. You seem awfully too upset over some guy you don't know getting fired. Regardless of who you want to fault, the facts are that this offense wasn't working and its the coaches job to get it to work. If he can't then he needs to be replaced by someone who can. There is enough talent on this offense to get it to work.

Over the last 6 weeks we are averaging 20.5 ppg which is around 20th. That 26.2 ppg is inflated by just a few games earlier in the season. We have been on a bad stretch of offense for 6 weeks now. If it were just a game here and there that would be one thing, but it isn't. Its 6 games straight and thats on the soft part of our schedule where we needed to stack wins. Thats a clear slide. I heard an interesting thing today. Dorsey's offense only has 4 formations. They only run 2 plays out of most of those formations. That makes this offense entirely practicable and easy to defend. You can tell what play just by tendencies. That makes it extremely difficult for an offense to succeed and expects them to be perfect all the time. They hardly ever even motion and rank I think it was 28th in the league using motion. There is no real scheme to get guys open. It's just line up and beat your man all the time.

McDermott weird comments about Josh Allen
Scott7975 replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah we are going to have to retool for sure. Thats kinda part of the reason I think it's time for McD to go. He built a good foundation here and got us some good wins. Unfortunately, he didn't get the complete job done while contracts were on the cheap. Retooling with McD will just be a defensive retooling. It kinda needs to happen but at the same time wtf... its time to build around Allen 3 seasons ago min. It's time to stop with this 200 man defensive rotation, cornerback rotation now too. I think when a team needs to retool and it's on the fence with a coach then it's the best time to get that new coach in there. That way new coach can retool the team in his vision instead of wasting another year with someone else's vision. -

McD actually talked about this exact thing in one of his pressers. Probably why they made that article. Conveniently McD left out the part about who told the FG crew to go out there instead of keeping the base defense in. -
Well that gives us an easier shot at a wc. Hopefully our offense turns it around. Bad time to be bad.

Im not talking about that but that stuff is there occasionally. Josh hesitates too long and then it collapses. What I am talking about though is he has gotten to the sideline and there has been daylight in front of him that he could easily run for that first down. In the past he would have done so. Now he doesn't. Since you bring it up though... his passes on the run are not very good this year. They used to be money. Now they are misses.
-
Welp, I am not pushing any narrative. The offense was not doing well this year other than a few games. Something needed to change. Dorsey was the change. They aren't changing QBs. Over the last 6 weeks the offense has scored 20.5 ppg. That would put them around 20th. I don't care what DVOA and EPA say. Points win games. The offense doesn't score enough and turns over the ball too much.
-
Yeah, those numbers all look nice but I would bet over the last 6 weeks this team ranks near the bottom in scoring and protecting the football. Advanced stats are nice, but scoring and protecting the football is what wins football games.

It's a possibility. I dunno if it's real or not because they keep that stuff in house even if it is real, but it's possible. Even if he isn't all that hurt, last year he had to learn to change how he threw the ball because of injury. If thats healed then he probably needed to learn how to go back to throwing normal because of that. He definitely hurt his shoulder this year and then aggravated it in another game too. Whether that is still effecting him I don't know. Josh would never say if it did. He just says "we're good." One thing I do know is that him throwing on the run used to be dimes. It was his money throw. He has been missing those throws all year. There has to be a reason he is missing them. Sometimes his downfield throws don't seem to have as much zip on them either. I dunno if he is consiously trying to take some heat off them or trying to maybe throw with a littl more arc and less velocity but some of them just don't look like the same Josh throws. He didn't suddenly forget how to throw the football. Either it's in his head or ...

here is a thought I had for a while but haven’t shared. when I first started playing guitar I would copy stuff to the point I was robotic in playing. I would get everything down and play everything note for note just right. It didn’t sound very good though. It was just really robotic and lacked soul. It wasn’t until I loosened up and just played. Played with some feeling and emotion that it sounded good. I feel that way about Dorsey’s offense. I feel that way about how the players are playing this year. The offense might be good but these guys have had this business like attitude coming into the season. Josh and his “I’m just focused on football” and such. It’s not fun for them. They are just robotically running the offense. Dorsey is a robot teacher and speaker. They just need to get back to playing football. Bills football. Not robotic football.

not true. There are many times he could have run for a first down easily this year and he has elected to throw a bad pass instead.

I dont think they are going to come out of their looks at all. They have the deep ball covered and other D is having a fairly easy job covering the underneath pretty tight. I know, I know, that guy on the screenshot is open but people have a hard time understanding how fast the defender is actually going to get there. McD's defense has made a living off of swarming to the ball. Not so much this year as the tackling has been piss poor, but he has. Yes, the underneath stuff needs to happen but they give that stuff up for a reason. No team is going to consistently move the ball 80 yards 3-5 yards at a time. Too much potential for mistakes. Especially with the slow ass people we got that can't really get much separation to begin with. Josh running the ball or even us picking up 7-8 yards a carry consistently might get teams out of it but right now I don't think thats going to happen.

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - On Scapegoats and Five and Five
Scott7975 replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
You mean the 12 men on the field thing? I read that Floyd was the guy that didn't come off and was supposed to. -
No. I think he is a good coach but I think he has gone a little mental this season and he has no answers. I also think he wants the wrong thing with the offense. Josh's problem this year is mental and I think that directly stems from McD being in his head and wanting to run the offense a certain way. I think McD took the special out of Josh. Time to go.

What’s your opinion of Gabe Davis on this play?
Scott7975 replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is what makes Josh special and elite. If you want a QB that just checks down every play just because it is there then you can just get Trent Edwards back. -
I hope not
-
I'm thinking Diggs is elite, Kincaid is very good and may be elite with time, Cook can be explosive if they get him the ball in space, Shakir has been good. Davis is Davis. He is boom or bust but can make explosive plays and has many. Harty or another guy off the bench, who knows as they don't use them and when they have they aren't used well. It doesn't take elite play design to have explosive plays but the play design we have this year isn't really geared for explosive plays or very good usage of our guys/Josh. Like it might be a good offense, but it isn't clicking for these guys. They need to do better. Our talent is better than the Chiefs this year. Probably better than what the Chiefs had last year too.

Oh please. Enough of the “we don’t have no talent” stuff. No, we don’t have Hill but there is enough talent to utilize on this team. Would I like better? Of course but there is talent here.
