  1. Why is the consensus that these guys can’t judge offensive talent? Have they really even targeted offensive talent? Other than grabbing Benjamin for a 3rd and throw ins added from other trades they really haven’t spent picks or money on offense? That could be an argument all on its own but why are they destined to ruin 80 million in cap space cause they can’t judge offensive talent? Lots of teams liked Allen, they would of drafted him. My guess is some would of even given up more to get him in years past. I get the doom and gloom around here since the team isn’t super bowl ready in year 2 and the roster is gutted and kinda fugly on offense. I don’t see any reason they can’t add quality free agents next year along with another strong draft and have this team super competitive. I don’t expect to land the top offensive free agents but some quality ones for sure
  2. The next level is playoff wins??? Right? How many playoff wins does he have? Hit me up in February and let’s see
  3. Alex Smith.. nuff said. How’s he look in Washington this year without those weapons? How’d he look last year in KC? This point of the season last year everyone was talking Alex Smith mvp of the league. Hes an average quarterback and always has been, but Reid was able to hide a lot of his inabilities and made him look pretty good. It wasn’t until mid to late season everyone figured them out. I’m in no way saying Mahomes is bad, just not worthy of the hype he gets on this board. As far as week 17 last year I mean does that really say anything? That’s more a preseason game than say a playoff game? If he was so lights out why run Alex Smith out for the playoffs? If people want to jump on the Mahomes train so be it, not my place to judge. But at least wait to get too crazy until December and January when the games start meaning more, and defenses have the tape on this scheme Reid has been using. And maybe 85% is a large number lol, not saying they can match his stats exactly cause as I said he’s not a scrub. Let’s use Blake Bortles for example, I think he could have similar numbers through this many games in KC if he was on their team last year and had the offseason to prepare as the starting quarterback and Reid could gameplan and setup a playbook built to his strengths
  4. Other than dealing Benjamin I don’t see anyone else moving out. It’s not like they need the cap relief or anything. Trade shady for what a 5-6th rounder? Why? Unless he wants out his cap hit has literally zero effect on this team next year. Same thing with Clay, he’s obviouly not special but what are you getting for him? And once again his cap hit next year has zero impact on incoming free agents. Next year is the year maybe you trade some of these guys. We have 10 picks already, so can’t hurt to load the next draft up as well. If there’s a market and you can get decent compensation for those guys go for it, but don’t just give them away for the sake of it. They got rid of the guys they don’t want, like it or not you’re talking about trading the veteran core of the team this year. Unless those guys are asking to be moved out I just don’t see any logic in unloading them this year. The youth movement is going to play with those guys around or traded it don’t matter.
  5. My biggest issue with this whole debate is the sample size is so small, and that offense is unstoppable. Alex friggen Smith looked like a sure fire hall of famer for half the season there last year. I hate to wish injuries on players but I’d love to see what Mahomes could do without Kelce and Hill one week. To me, greatness is being able to make stars out of players who aren’t exactly that great. Brady, Brees, Manning, Rodgers all make these receivers house hold names and a large majority of those guys hit free agency and are never that good again. Take away a couple weapons I’m not sold Mahomes is going to be making these stats. Andy Reid is great at designing his offense around his weapons, always has been. However everyone knows the track record at the end of the season/playoffs when all those formations and motions are on tape and they start seeing top defenses who are familiar with the offense they run. In my opinion Reid has done an amazing job making the kid comfortable and slowing the game down for him. I’m just not sold yet. I have to believe 85% of the quarterbacks in the NFL could be piling up similar stats in this offense. Lining up Kelce, Watkins, Hill and having Hunt in the backfield is pretty phenomenal. No defense in the NFL can cover that many weapons. Other teams have similar fire power but I don’t think anyone outside maybe the Rams has that much talent on the field at one time. Lets see if they stay healthy or if they lose a couple guys if Mahomes can carry the team. Or if Reid can still gameplan without all that fire power.
  6. Careful now, all these gm’s who know how to rebuild a team better than Beane will get upset. We should be Super Bowl contenders right now
  7. I agree. To be fair though he only has like 25 targets in those two years ?? And 8 of those might of been against Miami which is generally the only games I notice him out there
  8. I don’t get clay. His contract is quite large, but for whatever reason he is never targeted. He can be a weapon, it’s not like he’s never open. His entire time here he’s barely ever used. Maybe he sucks and I’m missing it, just never understood why he wasn’t gameplanned into our offense especially this year
  9. I put Allen in as soon as he’s ready. Anderson is here to show him the ropes, he gets 3-4 games now to study film with josh and see how he prepares for game day, but I don’t think Anderson is going to have much success. I hope I’m wrong I’d like to see a competitive offense I’m just not sure he has anything left in the tank
  10. Let’s be real here, more than likely teddy wins the job opening day and either the ravens or chargers murders the guy and puts him on IR. We bash Peterman all the time for lack of arm and you want bridgewater to replace him? While I would agree he’s a step up from Nate I highly doubt he survives those first few games and were still in the same situation.
  11. Free agents are looking for 3 things. 1. A ring 2. Playing time 3. Money We obviously are not attracting the ring chasers, which is fine those are usually guys on the back end of their career. We can offer the other 2 though. In our current state we will overpay for whoever we get, but that’s basically exactly what free agency is. Everyone overpays for the most part. I hate the people don’t want to play in buffalo stuff, I like to think the money and competitive side of players makes them want to be apart of building something. In the end free agency is all about the contract and guaranteed money. Any team who offers that lands the player. Does a team like buffalo have to tack on a few extra bucks or guarantee a little more? Sure, but after how they’ve ran the past 15 years they should have to
  12. Well... I think the answer is really simple, he is here because he has learned quite a few playbooks, he knows how to read a defense, he has been a professional for a very long time. Think of him as the assistant quarterbacks coach. He should not play a game this year unless Allen physically can’t go. Hes here to help the young guys plain and simple.
  13. That defensive list of free agents pending doesn’t exactly look costly, those guys can’t possibly command big contracts. I wouldn’t stress those players much.
  14. Yeah I would fully agree with that.
  15. He’s done. Don’t matter where he went in this hypothetical scenario. He doesn’t have it anymore. I would expect this is his last year. He doesn’t even look like he cares at all either. Just there to collect his check
  16. Haha truth, I was on the peterman hype train.. I really was. And I have to think the kid is extremely smart in the film room and being able to read defenses etc etc. Even last year I think they keep him around for his brains more than his talent. Speaking truthfully I kinda feel like if you could mesh Allen and peterman together you’d have an all pro top 5 quarterback. I have since jumped off the moving train, the kid just doesn’t have the arm talent to have success in this league. At this point I do support cutting him loose. I always envisioned him just being a “game manager” and yesterday he managed to just give the game away. I don’t think his career is over, but I think his buffalo career needs to be over. He needs a fresh start and new team. We all knew his ceiling was a backup quarterback and I still think he will be. He can’t stay here now though. Those bridges are burnt to the ground.
  17. I have said on here a few times people were looking at this season all wrong. These guys knew the team had major holes, but they ignored it on purpose. Because this is a development season plain and simple. They built their defensive side of the ball, it is looking to be an elite unit. They ignored the offense purposely to give the young inexperienced guys a shot to develop. By the end of the season some of these kids will step up or step out. Holes we see now may not be holes next year if some of these guys catch on. They look to have missed on some of the young guys like ray ray and peterman but still, the plan was to try and develop these guys this year, next year you walk into a mountain of salary cap space and lots of draft picks to build an offense with. Carolina was built similar to this, amazing defense and a low talent offensive line and receiving group. My nephew is a huge panther fan so I’ve followed them closely for years, they always had an aging secondary of washed up guys, terrible receivers and no name offensive lineman. They are very good at drafting and developing lineman but they have been pretty bad developing and drafting receivers. This team is built very similar minus Beane walked into a decently built secondary already. We can all complain about the former bills talent playing all over the nfl we see them making plays all over. I miss some of those guys personally. Specifically Robert Woods, Nigel Bradham and Zac Brown. But it is what it is. We can all gush and cry over Mahomes and Watson on their good weeks and how we could of had them, whine over Smith-Schuster etc etc but those guys would probably not be having any of that success here given our situation the last few years. I say all the time you never know Zay could be lights out in Pittsburgh or the Rams given their high octane offenses and ridiculous amounts of weapons those teams have. I’m sure Zay could be making big plays if he had the coaching LA has, along with Cooks, Woods, and Gurley being the focal points of the offense. Coordinators are not thinking damn we better gameplan bigtime for Kupp this week. They are focused on stopping Gurley and the run game, and how the heck do you cover Cooks and Woods. These other players so many on this board want to fire people for not drafting and flipping out how good they look forget these are offensive juggernauts with a crazy amount of weapons and very intelligent offensive coaches. Tomlin isn’t an offensive guy but Pittsburgh always has good coordinators coaching these guys up, and they seem to ALWAYS hit on mid round receiver draft picks. Long story short this team is being built in the vision these guys have. Not the fans. Take a step back, try to look long term not game to game. What they have shown us with mid to low level talent should be enough to show you they can win long term with high level and elite talent. The trick is if they are building a “dynasty” kinda team Allen better be the guy and not get completely shell shocked this year. They basically have the players they want now, just need to keep adding higher level talent to it
  18. I have seen it called both ways, defenseless receiver and PI, the fact it was ignored was quite ugly. They crushed Zay waaaaay before the ball got there
  19. The hit on Zay not being pass interference or defenseless receiver or something to me was the worst call. The NFL as a whole is quite disappointing this year on the crap penalties. Primetime games they seem to let them play more
  20. Lol well so cool to make a new thread.. thanks for your amazing contribution. oh yeah in before the lock.
  21. Yay a loss and a new fire thread.. I’m telling ya, we need an IQ test to let people post on here. Kinda like the captcha thing where you have to click the pics with cars
  22. I kinda feel like allen is ok they just are using the injury to bench him for playing bad without publicly benching him. Which would make more sense than him being seriously injured and not in the back getting checked out
  23. Ummm Anderson isn’t active? You want a little peterman time?
  24. I wouldn’t go crazy as far as compensation for him, but I could see a 2nd or 3rd rounder. He is what Allen needs this season though.
  25. What’s the deal with Murphy? Is he hurt? As bad as the pass game has been he could be a bit of a weapon on some screens or something and the return game
