I agree. If you can’t suspend then make him a healthy scratch. It’s the right thing to do. Correct, but “hey anyone, boyst stole my lunch” and “Hey police, I’d like to provide a signed statement and press charges that boyst is stealing my lunch” and they arrive and document evidence that supports that you stole my lunch, is different.

It’s definitely possible, Beane might figure the NFL will not suspend him if the Bills do. I really don’t think Von is getting suspended, unless the Bills do and they won’t have much ground to stand on if the league doesn’t care and DA doesn’t pursue it.

It’s been reported that if Von Miller is suspended under the NFL’s PCP, it voids out 17-something million in guarantees for next year. I’ve seen/read/heard nothing about this being false. This is the only avenue for help with his contract, and it might just be 2024. Beane may have added it to his contracted given the previous two allegations that went away.

Only if suspended by the NFL under the PCP. Which seems like they really, really don’t want to do. Not all contracts are written the same.

For sure, but was he asked if it was out of character or did he bring it up on his own? Legally, those past events never happened and that’s the narrative that Beane needs to tone his messages by. He really can’t come out and be like “Nah dudes trash,” he has to tote that professional response line.

They may be trying to make a plan moving forward, buying more time.

I agree, he took the easy way out of those questions. I think deflecting the questions to put the ball back in the NFLs court was really smart because at the end of the day, in order for us to pay him nothing the NFL needs to suspend him and I don’t think they will without outside pressure.

Yes I do 😉 Basically Von’s contract tilted things in favor of the defense, but it’s not like we have neglected the offense. We’ve still made some serious investments on that side dating back to 2019.

I do also feel Beane deflected things to the NFL, which is smart.

Boils down to how you view 2022. Added Roger Staffold and Jameson Crowder as well as Daquan Jones and Von Miller. Miller got an inflated contract. Impact draft picks were also 50/50 that year.

Add the fact that Celebs/upper classers get away with sh!t that us middle/lower classers don’t. NFL doesn’t give a crap about DV. The fact this got VERY quiet, VERY fast had me worried that this was going to be brushed away. Beane’s presser has me feeling it’s confirmed.

Good news is he has been SUPER difficult to notice out there.

I didn’t look at 17 and 18, but those years HAD to be defensive heavy. 2021 was definitely very balanced and 2022 would have been had it not been the Von contract. You can count 2023 to a “Offense Heavy” offseason as well. I expect 2024 will be defense tilted, but the O will get some gains too. Josh Allen and Steph Diggs also got big extensions the last few “defensive heavy” years also. If you view it as “defensive favored” that’s your opinion and you are entitled to it. I don’t think the investments are exactly 50-50 but it’s close enough to where, in my opinion, it’s been pretty balanced.

Also with MA: Correct me if my paraphrasing or memory is incorrect, but I believe he originally told the team he was NOT at the party or didn’t have any kind of relations with the girl. Both proven to be a lie. MA getting cut was more his own doing than the “woke virtue media blah blah blah” as others claim.

Beane repeatedly said they’re letting police and NFL take the lead on investigation, mentioning it’s their job. In my opinion that sets the stage for the team to deflect backlash to the NFL and Texas DA if no charges are filed (meaning no suspension and likely no release). Beane definitely sounded like he wasn’t expecting any sort of discipline from the league.

For sure, it was a great pickup but a back injury caught up with him (or happened here). I have positive memories of Big Play Clay.

I think what I meant was if McD wants player A and Beane wants player B, the whole scouting team will discuss it and break it down, rather than Beane just overruling them all. He has the power to dictate it, but I don’t think he does.

I’ll name some highlights: 2017 and 2018 was light, but any success we were going to have with washed up Tyrod and rookie Josh was through the defense and run game, I assume we can both agree on that. 2019: Signed John Brown and Cole Beasley. Took a gamble with Ty Nseke who wound up being the swing tackle. Signed Frank Gore to be the #2. Tyler Kroft to be the 1a TE. Signed Mitch Morse. Only defensive FA addition was Kevin Johnson, depth guy. After going Ed Oliver in round one, they went OT (Cody ford), RB (Devin Singletary), and TE (Dawson Knox) in the second and third rounds. 2019 was an offense heavy offseason. 2020: Far more balanced after a very offensive heavy 2019. Team signed 6 defensive players (Mario Addison and AJ Klein only starters), but still added starting OG Quinton Spain, starting RT Daryl Williams, RB Twain Jones for depth. OH and they traded for that Stephon Diggs dude. 2 starting OL and a superstar WR. Went DE in the draft in round 2, then RB (Zach Moss), WR (Gabe Davis, and QB (Jake Fromm). Then Kicker. 2021: Added a high profile backup QB in Mitch Turbiski, #2 WR in Emmanuel Sanders, Matt Brida for RB depth, and Pro-Bowl Bobby Hart. They had a bunch of depth re-signings for both sides of the ball, but did ink Matt Milano. In the draft they went DE in both rounds, but added the starting RT in the third. 2022: Added high profile OG Roger Staffold who was TKO’d by Father Time by week 4, but it was viewed as a great pickup at the time. Added Jameson Crowder who was also viewed as a great signing. They added Tim Settle (wooo), Daquan Jones, and Von Miller to the defense. As you can see, the Bills have spent major money and made some major investment in the offense around Allen. This “Defense Dominated” narrative is false when you break things down. Most FA periods the offense, in terms of starters, has dominated.

From what I understand listening to folks who watch and break down the All22 professionally, McD has done a good job (gasp!) minimizing his weakness and putting him in situations that suit his strengths. So yes, he has been very good this year.

Dawson Knox, statistically, is one of the greatest TEs we’ve ever had. Hoping he regains his 2021 and 2022 form once he’s back from injury.
