Haden is 33 and coming off the worst statistical season of his career where he still missed 6 games. QBs posted a 100+ QB rating going against him and missed tackles were a big issue.

I still predict a CB/Safety hybrid

Who will be the #1 pick in the draft?
TheyCallMeAndy replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Gotta be Neal but I don’t see the Jags keeping that #1 pick -
They could also love Dodson, which I think is also very possible. It will be interesting, my friends. OG might be the most likely but I still think LB is a dark horse.
-
Yes, but the crowd reaction when Haack FINNALLY ended his 3 kick shank streak was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. I agree with this, and going by comments McD has made in the past about wanting a guy who can consistently hit it 40 over a guy who can occasionally hit it 80, it wouldn’t shock me.
-
I don’t think it’s worst case, I think it’s most likely. Bills struggled badly vs power run teams, even with AJ Klein in the lineup. I imagine they would want to use a base 3 LBs more vs these teams. They have 3 run first teams in the division, and seem to play Baltimore, Indy, and Tennessee every year. Then if they can’t agree on a long term deal with Edmunds, or he doesn’t take the next step this year, boom his replacement is already on the roster. I’d take a round 2 LB who will get meaningful snaps over a 4th string WR, backup RB, 3rd string TE, or 4th OG. The developmental guy will get poached off the practice squad and either the vet or rookie sits behind Dane Jackson.
-
Agreed, then they’ll shock everyone with a LB round 2.
-
Agreed. I think them looking at CB isn’t about Jackson, it’s about uncertainty around White. My money is they draft a kid who can play CB AND safety. If White comes back and over the next few years shows no ill signs from his ACL, then the rookie stays at Safety where he replaces Hyde or Poyer. If White isn’t the same player athletically, then he moves to safety (where he would be elite as hell) and the rookie stays at CB where he is paired with under-rated-as-hell Dane Jackson.

For sure, I think Bills just might value accuracy over power and maybe don’t want to put too much stress on a defense that, in truth, faced a ton of crappy QBs. That’s allI was saying.
-
That only works if we are facing 8 rookies/jobbers again like last year. I like the idea of the punt god (fun fact, my autocorrect changed this to ‘puny god’) but in truth, how many times did we punt from inside our own 30 last year? Or 20? 10? I think we need a guy who’s proven to be highly accurate and a good holder on kicks as it seems like we tend to kick closer to the 50 than our 20.

I mean at least this is a tax that I’ll actually get to enjoy… -

Was just watching highlights of Durant choke slamming and hurdling defenders -
I’m pretty sure Josh’s 3 picks also came in 1 game 😮

I think there’s a shot Tre White could switch to safety some point in the near future, ACL is a brutal injury for a CB.

List of draft players Bills have met with
TheyCallMeAndy replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
So some bad news: The 2020 pre draft tracker, the Bills drafted no one. 2021 was just Jack Anderson. These leaks really don’t narrow down anything. -
Dwayne Haskins killed [Edit: struck by vehicle]

He spoke. And it was disgustingly ignorant. -
I like Dane, but I don’t know he showed enough on film to warrant the Bills passing on a CB prospect for a RT (I’m very aware he only allowed 50%). At the same time, I’m not sure Spencer Brown showed enough to allow the team to pass on a RT either. I think Beane loves both players and wouldn’t be totally shocked if neither OT or CB is the first round pick. I strangely suspect it will be a safety and we sign a vet CB to a 1 year deal.

Not feeling like being depressed today, but I’m sure your son did a great job!! 👍🏼🦬

Honey Badger is an elite DB, he’s only 29 and has played outside (but mostly slot and safety).
