And I think you’re fooling yourself if you think Gabe can’t be a legitimate #2. Drops aren’t Gabe’s only issue, but they are unquestionably the biggest. Cole Beasley couldn’t run the whole route tree effectively, you’d never send him on a go route and expect good results because of his athletic limitations, but he had a decade long career because he rarely dropped passes.
If the coaches can help Gabe get over the drops, they’ll put him in a spot to be successful because as long as you can catch the ball, every other limitation is workable.
