QB Metrics and Advanced Analytics--Good info
Crusher replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's no way one can measure what system a QB is in and what they are asked to do within that system. Are they asked to be caretakers of an offense as opposed to taking chances to make more plays for the team? This all matters and can make a guy who takes little risk appear better than a player who is asked to do more in the hopes of getting more production. This is why many metrics for QB's just aren't very good when comparing players IMO. -
I'm not going to go back and forth with you, but I was truthful in my posts about supporting Tyrod at first. It was all good until the regular season started and I saw just how inept a passer he truly was. And to be honest...I don't think much has changed since then. You and a few other posters are obsessed with me and will stop at nothing to disparage anything you can in regards to me...I am well aware of this. I'll stick to keeping the discussions on appropriate levels while yourself and a few others can keep trying to drag it down with accusations and insults.

Not surprising that this is you're take. I really have nothing against Taylor besides the fact that I just don't believe he's a very good QB. I like his talent, and he seems like a decent guy who's well respected and liked by his teammates. This doesn't mean however that I need to have blinders on and continue to believe that he will become something that I haven't even seen a glimpse of. You can carry on with whatever statements you like, as well as the insults and lack of self reflection...it's all good with me because I truly couldn't care less about any of it. I will still post and continue to correct you when you are wrong, and I will also defend myself and my position when I feel the need to. I'd like to think I could meet any Bills fan and get along with them, and to this day...it's never failed. I'm sticking with that train of thought...even for you and JM2009 who seem to truly be offended by my position.

This. That OKC team was better than GS last season. They were ready to come back with a starting five of Westbrook, Oladipo, Durant, Horford, and Adams with Kanter, Roberson, and Waiters coming off the bench. Horford was committed to OKC if Durant stayed. This was what they offered Durant for his squad, along with the pitch that all championships are not created equal. Russ said he would do whatever he could to have him stay as well. The fact that he left that to go to GS tells me all I need to know about KD and his competitive fire. He also made statements about wanting to retire in OKC and how players shouldn't join these powerhouse team's, and that we need to go at them instead. He made a move that will always portray him as a can't beat em, so I joined em kind of guy instead of sticking with a pretty great team in it's own right. Nobody criticizes Durant if he goes anywhere else, but he knew exactly what this move would mean to everyone, and he still made that choice. KD is not loyal, was not truthful about his intentions, and screwed over not only his former team, but he damaged the league in my eyes. It was the opposite of a move created by competitiveness, and it actually crushed any chance for it.

The OP wouldn't even mention this guy if he didn't have it hard for TT...FACT. All indications say he doesn't have it...he's a physical talent, haven't seen much or heard much that speaks to his football IQ and feel for the position. I have no issues with those who still hold out hope, but that's all it is, and it's based on blind faith.

Jeremy Maclin (Agrees to 2 year deal with Ravens)
Crusher replied to BillsDiehard's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
None of this has anything to do with what I posted. I don't care about the passing numbers...I thought I made that clear. One guy is asked to do a whole lot more than the other guy, but the guy that plays in a simplistic, low risk offense is somehow superior? I always find myself asking why I continue to run around in circles when it comes to discussion with you, and here I am again doing just that. -

Too bad his play is somewhere near the middle to the back end of the pack. -

This is simply your opinion, and literally nobody else shares it. You could ask nearly anyone who they think is a better QB, and I would bet 99% of football fans would tell you Flacco, hands down. And to top it all off, you want to state that Maclin went to Baltimore for all other reasons besides the QB, when you really have no idea why he chose the Ravens. Stats can be misleading, and they have always been in regards to Taylor IMO. When one QB is asked to do very little in a simplified offense supported by a dominant ground game vs a QB who is asked to carry a much bigger load in a more sophisticated system, it's easy to look at the numbers and draw a conclusion. The problem is that this is a lazy and not very accurate way to evaluate a QB, which is probably why you keep puppeting this nonsense. -

Put TT on the Ravens and give Flacco the Bills run game and simplified offense. Guess who looks the same if not better, and guess who looks worse. -

Just like I originally said...the upside was low for him in this offense. It makes much more sense for him in Baltimore if he wants to put up some numbers and get another nice deal. -

Only you believe such nonsense. And comparing numbers does not mean one guy is better than the other. Alot of factors come into play...including what type of offense they run and what they are asked to do for that offense. -
Nate Peterman - weak arm? I don't think so!
Crusher replied to Deadstroke's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
More definitive statements that show a lack of respect for the unknown...that's exactly what we are talking here. You just don't know how any of These guys careers will go. And the true irony here is you are claiming Peterman can't surpass Tyrod, but by your logic, Tyrod would have been given no chance of having a career like Fitz either. Do you see how silly these statements are? -

It's ridiculous for sure. There's alot of similarities between Peterman and Brady when they came out. In the right system, a smart QB that has a tremendous feel for the game and accuracy can go far. Not To say it will happen, but it COULD. Saying there is ZERO chance that he could be better than a guy that's top 20 at best is poor logic to me. -

Tannehill and Tyrod have been pretty much equal in terms of production IMO. You could argue there may be more room to grow for Tannehill since he had very little experience coming into the league, but either way I would think that Tannehill isn't guaranteed his job by his performance either. Maybe the contract keeps the team from truly giving him any competition, but I don't think he's shown to be the answer as well. And I wasn't arguing that Tyrod is competing with Peterman...he most likely is not. This is not to say that Peterman doesn't show up and give the coaches reason to think he may be able to supplant Tyrod, because he very well may do just that. Tyrod was a sixth rounder that has performed admirably with the chances he's had the last two seasons...Peterman could do better or worse. There are examples of both. To say there is ZERO chance he becomes better than Tyrod is unfounded at best. -

Well Tyrod by all accounts has reached his ceiling being he's going into his seventh NFL season and he regressed in most areas last season, so he's maxed out his abilities based off of a long history of QB's. Tyrod gets by on his physical talents...his mental ability when it comes to the position seems to be his limitation. History has also shown that smart, less physically talented players tend to be the ones that have more success over time, so saying Petermans ceiling is Tyrod is probably not true being that a smart QB that has a good feel for the position stands a better chance at being successful over the physically talented, but not QB smart player. -

Not surprising at all to me. Many on the deceased BBMB said they were fine with keeping Tyrod even if he's not good enough because he's an exciting player and at least the team is competitive with him as opposed to the garbage we've had for years before him. These guys are defeated fans...happy just to not be at the bottom, and to maybe have a bone tossed our way if everything goes right with a one and done playoff appearance. Anyways...back to the food and Maclin discussion, folks. I believe he just wanted to check out another option he felt could be a good fit for him. I think he most likely ends up here, but I don't think he's going to make a huge impact. I think he's injury riddled, and I don't think he will get much more than the occasional deep look on this team...maybe this is why he wants a longer deal and is possibly looking for a more pass oriented team. Give me another topic that has some bearing on this team that's worth discussing and you'll get my thoughts on it. Trust me when I tell you that's all this is right now. I'll be involved in plenty other topics when they warrant real discussion. The Seahawks went into that game playing the run and looking to keep Tyrod from leaving the pocket. They were also without Chancellor as well as Bennett. And FTR, their plan worked...even though the game was probably closer than they anticipated. TT failed when he had the chance to win that game...a game where the defense make crucial stops late to give Taylor his shot that he couldn't deliver on. Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl a lifetime ago...a year after the Bills made their last playoff appearance. Teams don't succeed like that anymore...you need a QB to win games in the end. Too many games are close and come down to a play her or there. I respect your thoughts, but I simply do not have the same belief you do in the QB and what he can achieve, and that's fine. -

I don't know who you are, but I can assure you that posts like this one will surely do you no good if you want to actually have actual discussion here. Maybe you have a rep here, maybe not...all I know is you sound like a fake tough guy and it's cute, funny, and pathetic all rolled into one. Don't try to tell anyone how to conduct themselves or what they can discuss if you can't go about it in a respectful manner.
