So now with the big moves yesterday, I want to go over what this team will look to do now on both sides of the ball, but especially on offense. The defense appears to be rather stout and disruptive up front with the tackles and ends, but there are questions with the linebackers and even bigger questions about the secondary. I see this unit trying to force team's into quick decisions and short passes with an aggressive front, but team's that have good QB play should be able to have success against them. I see this unit as better, but I still see them not holding up well against good offensive team's. On offense, we now appear to be a ball control, game management offense. This is similar to recent seasons under Rex, but now we have little to no ability to stretch the field and draw coverage away or to stop teams from crowding the line. This will be a dink and dunk, gadget style passing offense with rollouts and screen passes to compliment a power run game. The goal will be to try and move the ball methodically and wear out the opposition. The issue will be will team's be better equipped to handle an offense that is even more predictable and lacking big play ability downfield? I see this season playing out similarly to last season with us hanging around in most games, but coming up short in alot of games due to the limitations of the offense and inability to throw the ball late in games or in crucial moments. We will not put away team's, and this will let some come back at the end and steal a few games IMO. Anyone else's input is welcome to add to the discussion.

Character & Jordan Matthews
Crusher replied to MarlinTheMagician's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sammy played through injuries. He fractured his foot...you don't "rough it out" through something like that. Sammy Watkins makes Matthews look like a scrub in comparison. His example brings squat to the table...ask the Eagles how much he was worth. They had to toss in a third rounder to unload him for an average DB in Darby. You and others are desperately trying to justify a horrible move by this regime, but it will be indefensible when Watkins goes on to a have a brilliant career and Matthews has a pedestrian one. -
Character & Jordan Matthews

Talent trumps character when talent wants to. The only way character wins is if talent decides it doesn't matter to them. Sammy wasn't of bad character in that regard...he wanted to ball out and get paid. He was a hard worker and was with TT working together in the offseason. -
Go on record regarding the trades

I see the logic as poor. I'd rather roll the dice on a player of Watkins caliber being past the foot injury and realizing his potential over getting a lousy return while you let a star WR walk. This move reeks of this staff wanting their guys and draft picks over true talent. I am now highly skeptical of Beane and McDermott. -

Great post. I am firmly in the camp that thinks dealing Watkins was a big mistake...especially for the return. He now finally appears to be past his foot issues, and may now emerge as the next Julio Jones. We've seen it when healthy, so it's only a question if he gets hurt, but this is football and it sometimes happens. The Falcons and Cowboys didn't give up on Julio and Dez and they are ballin' out now. If Sammy stays on the field...this trade goes down as a colossal screwup by the new regime. -

The Falcons and Cowboys took the bet on Julio Jones and Dez Bryant with the same injuries and those guys worked out. Betting against a talent like Watkins now after he's past the foot issue is stupid. The Rams may get Julio Jones 2.0 in his prime for a second rounder and filler. This trade is a joke unless Sammy continues to suffer injuries and miss major time. -
What if Tyrod emerges as a franchise QB?

The sad thing is that this almost appears to be what this regime is banking on. -

I'm on record as neutral to ok with the Darby trade, but I think trading Sammy was a huge mistake. I think his value is much higher than what he's shown so far...some his fault, but alot is on the QB as well. This trade will make us look worse than trading Lynch if he stays healthy, and this move hurts the offense for the foreseeable future. -
official "happy that Sammys gone" thread
Crusher replied to mrags's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We'll see how happy you are when team's squeeze the short part of the field since there is nobody that can draw coverage away. This offense will struggle this season...pass and run will be worse. -
Good post and I agree wholeheartedly. And while I'm not a TT guy...I think they are putting him and the offense as a whole in a tough spot. This team has no outside threat, and team's will load up on the run and short pass game. Watkins was an elite talent, and you don't jettison him unless you get a great return. The Bills got worse today, and now need to draft a playmaking WR again.

Bills' OC: Tyrod Taylor 'can't wait for a route to open up
Crusher replied to Meathead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The defense tightened up when it mattered against Seattle, and the defense broke in Oakland after numerous consecutive three and outs and a INT on our own side of the field. Both games were there for TT to deliver, and he failed. Sorry you can't deal with that -
Bills' OC: Tyrod Taylor 'can't wait for a route to open up
Crusher replied to Meathead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The D was average...save for a few games where they got gashed in the rum game. They played a big part in all seven wins, and they gave Taylor a chance against Oakland and Seattle. One thing is undeniable...the winning formula for this team seems to be good defense and a strong run game. TT hasn't proven he can win in any other scenario -
So you refuse to provide the info that he called you into question on, and now you pretend to be above it and say you're out of this thread? Yeah...Thurman appears to have nailed it in regards to you.

Wentz worked on his mechanics in the offseason...the same guy that worked with Brady. My opinion is much more informed than you'll probably ever come to realize, but I'll let things play themselves out regardless. And as far as football guys and what they think of Wentz...go check out many well known writers and football guys. Michael Silver just did a good piece on him. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000823619/article/carson-wentz-comfortable-pushing-entire-eagles-organization%3fnetworkId=4595&site=.news&zone=story&zoneUrl=url%253Dstory&zoneKeys=s1%253Dstory&env=&pageKeyValues=prtnr%253Dphi%253Bteam%253Dphi%253Bconf%253Dnfc%253Bdvsn%253Dnce%253Bplyr%253Dbrent_celek%253Bplyr%253Dzachary_ertz%253Bplyr%253Dnelson_agholor&sr=amp My opinion on Wentz has absolutely nothing to do with TT. Stop with the foolishness and wild assumption's. -

I keep telling myself to not bother with such nonsense, but his posts are so weak that I feel compelled to respond. -

I would disagree...and I imagine most experts would as well. The systems are the big difference in numbers. TT wouldn't be capable of running the offense Wentz is. -

Calling Wentz a crap QB destroys any chance he had in this thread.
