THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - The Brandon Beane Era Begins
Crusher replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think this is one of the worst moves this team has made in a long time...we will see. -
Nobody has an idea of how many games he will play. He stands as much of a chance as any other player because injuries aren't predictable. Julio, Dez, and Edelman all needed the second surgery for the Jones fracture and are now all fully recovered and producing...Watkins is now healthy and may now be entering his prime. My point was that Watkins has had the detriment of not only a not very good passer throwing to him a limited amount, but that the scheme also hurts him and both these things aren't allowing him to fully realize his potential. Matthews I imagine is pretty much getting the most out of his ability.

RODAK: Watkins Trade Sets Up TT To Fail
Crusher replied to OldTimeAFLGuy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd like to dig a bit deeper into the numbers on this team's wins and losses with and without Sammy. I tend to believe there are some other factors at play that skew that, but that'll have to wait until I get a chance to go through it. -
RODAK: Watkins Trade Sets Up TT To Fail
Crusher replied to OldTimeAFLGuy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The point is that he was insinuating that we may be better off without a number one WR when he previously blamed TT playing poorly due to Watkins not being out there...did you struggle putting that together? You can't talk out of both sides of you're mouth...it's either TT will take a hit without Sammy, or he won't. He fits every argument to fit the TT agenda...that's the point. -
Character & Jordan Matthews
Crusher replied to MarlinTheMagician's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As a Philly resident who keeps a beat on the team...my view on it is that they didn't see him as an impact guy. He dropped alot of catchable balls, and couldn't handle being the number one receiving option. There were also rumors of a knee injury in the offseason as well as talk of holding out in camp, but he denied both on the first day. The bottom line is Schwartz wanted Darby for his system, and the Eagles didn't value Matthews. The fact that they also tossed in a third tells me that. Good guy and hard worker, but not anything special as a player. Probably not worth what he will be looking for in free agency IMO. What exactly did he hold together? The Eagles went and added Alston Jeffrey and Torrey Smith as well as another receiver in the draft. What does that tell you? And when you get dealt along with a third rounder for an average DB who had a bad year last season, what does that tell you? This Matthews was the glue...just as productive nonsense is just that. -
The difference is that Watkins played in a run dominant system with a limited QB throwing to him. This is the problem I have with people using numbers...they ignore other factors and disregard what you can actually see when watching these two players at work. Matthews isn't even in the same neighborhood as Watkins as a player...the margin in skill and talent is wide.

RODAK: Watkins Trade Sets Up TT To Fail

But yet you blamed TT's struggles on Sammy when he wasn't on the field... -
Feel Like We Are Going Back To Dark Days
Crusher replied to Ittakestime's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can't go back to the dark when you never made it out into the light. At this point...Bills fans are nocturnal beings that may shriek in fright at the first sight of light and crawl back into their cave they've been in it so long. -
Go on record regarding the trades
Crusher replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Totally agree. I am extremely disappointed to see so many posters approving of this move...it makes me sick knowing what type of talent we lost and for what? A lousy second rounder and a sixth round DB who's small, slow, and hasn't been decent or healthy since 2014? This is what the Bills deemed appropriate value for Sammy f'n Watkins?! A foolish move at best by the new regime. They have already made me a skeptic -
Beane & McD Press Conferences
Crusher replied to Jamie Muellers Ghost's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Except our cow was made of gold, and we got back a six pack and a bag of Cheetos. It makes me sick seeing what we got in exchange for a true game changer who still hasn't even entered his prime. This would be a fireable offense if we didn't just hire this guy. In two to three years if Watkins is lighting things up and this team isn't in the playofffs...see ya around, buddy boy! -

He sure helped the Eagles. And he must have meant alot to be dealt with a third rounder for an average DB. -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - The Brandon Beane Era Begins
Crusher replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ha! My man J is back in the building! When it comes to the Bills, you're right...i've been mostly negative. In my defense...they have been awful for like forever. Oh, well...i've got some hopsanity in the fridge waiting. Peace -
Rams' fan reaction to Sammy trade
Crusher replied to CanadianFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You hope so...otherwise, we got fleeced. And usually after the second surgery, the foot is good. -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - The Brandon Beane Era Begins
Crusher replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And you, Shaw are the opposite...rational, but perpetually positive. And yes...you are good at being optimistic, just like I'm good at being negative. What you must take note of though is that the Bills have been a disappointment all this time while you have kept positive through all of the misery and disappointment, so when you think about it...I'm more justified in my position than yourself. Yes, optimism is generally a better trait to have, but this is football discussion, and I'm not interested in pumping sunshine after all these years, and frankly I don't have it in me to talk myself into it anymore. I don't begrudge you for it, though...it's cool that you maintain such positivity. When I feel it's warranted, or I see things coming together, I'll be right there with you cheering and supporting. I still do now, but not to the level I previously did. As for you're examples...I could give you the list of franchise QB's that were top picks and became franchise QB's, but it would be much longer than the handful you presented. I'm fine with this regime stockpiling picks...this is always a sound strategy. I don't, however wish to go about it by dumping a top flight receiver for lesser value...it was a bad move when we moved Lynch (I was against that, too), and this is even worse than that. Watkins was not a guy who got in trouble, and he has much more tread left in his tires than Lynch did at the time. I have no idea if it will work either. Maybe it will, but there's no way I'll ever get behind the Watkins trade, and I will remain skeptical until I see the plan start to unfold and it looks promising. -
Knee jerk reaction that losing Sammy is bad for TT?
Crusher replied to GG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sure it is. The problem with that though is that he is an elite talent at his position, while TT is not. So you dump the better player that could be the cornerstone for a decade and hang onto an average at best passer that has shown he can't win games unless the defense plays great? Sorry...this doesn't compute for me. -
Knee jerk reaction that losing Sammy is bad for TT?
Crusher replied to GG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Last time I checked...TT was doing alot less than most of the other QB's in the league...the run game carried the load. The failures at the end of games that were there for the taking was apparent as well. And now he's missing his go to guy who could make plays when needed and draw safeties over to his side. I disagree that TT does alot more than Sammy. I'll take an average QB and Watkins over an average QB and average WR. That's strictly you're opinion. I disagree with those thoughts personally, and I doubt anyone that's a Bills fan thinks that way. I know you are smarter than this, so maybe just stop taking posts against Taylor as hate and realize that it's fine to not like the QB and what he does and speak about it. -
official "happy that Sammys gone" thread
Crusher replied to mrags's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All those guys are easily better than him. Just remember to set your standards a bit lower...he's not what you think he is. -
Protecting the football only gets you so far. You gotta win games when they are there for the taking. You continue to overvalue the qualities TT possesses, when you should be more concerned with what he doesn't do and how it translates to this team ever truly contending.

Go on record regarding the trades
Crusher replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Rams have alot of talent on both sides of the ball, and Case Keenum played alot of games last season and Goff was a rookie that wasn't ready. Some better QB play behind a good run game and that defense and they are a pretty good squad. He thinks he knows what the Rams will be this season, but I see lots of talent on both sides and a QB that should fare better with more talent and with some experience under his belt (even though I'm not sold on him as the guy). -
Knee jerk reaction that losing Sammy is bad for TT?
Crusher replied to GG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If that's this regime's logic...they have no shot. And I actually do think you are right, unfortunately. They are choosing Tyrod and their system over Watkins and talent. -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - The Brandon Beane Era Begins
Crusher replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It doesn't matter how many picks you have when the top teams in the draft need a QB. This team needs to tank and leapfrog the Jets. TT and his game management offense will net us enough wins to not get our guy...book it. -

The Rams have a good defense and alot of weapons on offense...including maybe the best RB in football. Another silly statement by you -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - The Brandon Beane Era Begins
Crusher replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The OP totes the same company line year after year...regime after regime. More of the same. Trying to emulate the Pats is a nice idea, but it's not something that anyone else has really been able to do...mostly because Belichek is by far and away the best coach in the game, and he has a brilliant QB that runs his system exactly how he wants him to. I am more skeptical of this regime after the recent moves, and I don't believe in dumping a star like Watkins for pennies on the dollar. This wasn't even character over talent...it was draft picks over elite talent, and I don't believe in that. Maybe it works if the Bills tank and get that ever so elusive QB that can do it all behind a defense that McDermott and Beane restructure and rebuild with their own guys, but these are much easier said than done. As always...time will tell. If I had to guess though, I would say this ends up another failed regime that couldn't get the right QB because they won too many games playing a low risk, low reward brand of football that doesn't lose games, but doesn't win many either, so we never get the QB required to make the jump into a true contender. I will as always hope I am wrong and will root for the best. -
Go on record regarding the trades
Crusher replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The same group that wanted Lynch gone. They made excuses like he didn't want to be here, and was one strike away to justify letting him go for practically nothing. Lynch went on to have a tremendous career, and it was an awful move in retrospect. This move may be even more of a disaster. -
Character & Jordan Matthews
Crusher replied to MarlinTheMagician's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's BS...plain and simple. This is all about the new regime choosing their guys and jettisoning more talent in order to have more control of players and the roster.
