  1. Well even so, they’re both going to run headlong into the same issue that the Bills have. The AFC is a buzz saw of QB talent, and the Texans and Colts are set to get highly rated QBs as well. So the Jets will have a short window with Rodgers, and the Jags have to build a real defense. KC isn’t going to win the Super Bowl every year, so the Bills have to be in position in those off years.
  2. Airseven - He’s just not Mahomes. Nobody else in the league is. The media sets the QB standard at Mahomes (because they are obsessed with ranking) and it’s something where I say okay he’s the clear-cut best, but it leaves 31 other QBs as never going to measure up to that. That means Herbert isn’t good enough, he’s 0-1 in the Playoffs, Hurts isn’t good enough, he’s 2-2, Burrow, threw two interceptions in the AFC Title game, he isn’t good enough, Allen is 4-4 in the Playoffs, he’s not good enough, Dak isn’t good enough, Lawrence isn’t good enough, the media is living off the 2019 MVP for Lamar, but he’s 1-3 in the Playoffs, not good enough. My stance is Allen is good enough to win “a” Super Bowl, and I agree to some extent with the media Mahomes ball washers - he is on another level, but because there is a gap, the Bills surrounding roster has to be better than the Chiefs, if not much better. Unfortunately, Beane added Diggs in 2020 and an old Von Miller in 2022 and it’s not enough, at least until Kelce ages out because as good as the KC FO is, it’s hard to draft HOFers. The next wave is always coming. As Bills fans we have to hope that the Bengals owners don’t have much money and when you hear their representatives talk, they are gagging on that Burrow contract talking about everyone being happy. Who is on the way up?
  3. How do you know that lifting weights would not generate arm strength or make him much faster? What is the proof of that statement? Allen is carrying flab, other than crashing into defenders with more weight, what exactly is he gaining with that physique? Keeping some pudding on makes him less vulnerable to injury? I see a comparable Justin Herbert doing the extract opposite. 6’6” and hitting the weight room and tightening up. I said I don’t expect Will Levis bodybuilder, but Allen has zero definition and is sporting a gut. Eli Manning and his beach dad bod has Allen beat, sorry don’t buy that it’s helping him in some way. You can see this Bills team is somewhat maxed out. Low cost OLineman in FA, spare parts WR added in FA, trying to keep the defense together for another run, picking in the low 20’s consistently. He’s making $45M now so there just isn’t room to add much more than filler players. One lever that Allen could pull to see if another level is possible is physique, because roughly his last three seasons have been the same output and we all know there is a gap to Mahomes and the Chiefs. So what other avenues does Allen have to close that gap?
  4. Okay, but the majority of NFL players lift weights correct? Are we trending towards being the 2008-2022 Packers? Elite QB, one great WR, taking defense in the 1st Round constantly. 1 SB win, and a bunch of disappointing Playoff losses.
  5. I'm not saying Allen has to look like this, but you watch Richardson's Pro Day and then Levis with this photo and I'm sorry Allen is not doing everything he can to be in the best shape for the season. Bottom line is I don't want him to be Ben Roethlisberger in the end (yes I know he has two Super Bowls) where he's out there with a keg belly and is 264 pounds, where he does one yoga session in the Summer to get ready for the season. Allen runs more, which means the pass rush is coming for him more.
  6. Joe Marino covered this today. His review was true to his style, nothing was earth shattering, but after studying Bernard against the Jets and Dodson against the Browns, its the same thing for both of them. Those guys are too small to play MLB. The 40 looks pretty good on paper because they weigh less, and otherwise they are decent athletes. However, Bernard gets swallowed by blocks, and Dodson has stiff hips and can only run in a straight line. Spector was a special teamer for 2-years at Clemson, and profiled then as a try hard backup kind of player in the NFL. With only Drew Sanders and Jack Campbell having the required size to have enough range to cover, I think that's our 1st Round pick. You add in the McDermott factor, and this notion that this WR class is weak.
  7. This is a bad Tweet. Doesn't matter who brought the subject up. At the end of the day this FO and Coaching staff is saying Allen's running is unsustainable, how's it a problem, while not taking any blame for a below average offensive line, an offensive approach that has no sustained interest in running the ball, and an average group of skill position players when compared to other top Playoff contenders.
  8. Can Bernard get bigger? Because in addition to seemingly being out of place, at 225 pounds he looked like a Safety in the middle of the defense. We've seen this over the years as Bills fans with guys like Marcus Buggs, John Digiorgio, Alvin Bowen, Nic Harris, John Wendling, Keith Ellison, Coy Wire, kind of small converted safeties masquerading as linebackers.
  9. Speaking of WGR, Joe Diabase was obsessed with 2 names this year: Jakob Chychrun and Odell Beckham. What is he going to do if the Bills don't get either one of them?
  10. Would they dip into their 2024 picks? Because they've only got 6 this year, unless they trade up, and then later trade back to get numbers.
  11. With only Drew Sanders and Jack Campbell as legitimate starting MLBs I wonder how aggressive the Bills would be at trading back and missing out on either one of these two. If they're telling the truth about being excited about a Dodson, Bernard and Spector MLB competition, then really they have the flexibility to draft any position. Even WR, the Bills have suitable numbers now. Jordan Phillips signing took the Bills off the cliff at DT. I do think the Bills are telling the truth about banking on a Spencer Brown uptick in play, so I think OT is more of a longshot. If they draft Dawand Jones for instance, he's starting at RT and Brown is now a backup, I just don't see them doing that. I'll believe they'll invest high on O-Line when they show it. The last significant investment there was Cody Ford in the 2nd Round of the 2019 Draft. I can see something like MLB, DE, WR, OL, TE, CB/S kind of draft as of right now.
  12. A Round 1 or Round 2 WR, not both rounds. Phillips signing takes DT #4 pressure off in the earlier rounds.
  13. Yes, I would expect Downs to come off the board before pick #59. If they go WR in Rounds 1 & 2 I wonder where that leaves Shakir. He seems unlikely to eat into Davis’ snap count, and a R1, R2 WR would immediately outrank him. Beane has said Harty is a WR 4 type, meaning he’d be down with Sherfield in injury replacement and mop up reps.
  14. If Beane and McDermott are telling the truth, and they think Dodson vs. Spector vs. Bernard is the MLB, then this team is essentially set and the Bills have the flexibility to draft either side. Von's knee is an unknown, but if he can go at the start of the season, they already have 4 DEs on the roster. What position do the Bills target on the Offensive Line? OT - Dawkins, Brown, Quesenberry, Doyle OG - Bates, McGovern, Boettger, Anderson C - Morse WR looks like one spot left Diggs, Davis, Shakir, Harty, Sherfield Running Back room looks packed It looks to me like defense early, maybe a Tight End to compete. Joe Marino is talking about waiting on WR because the WRs in Round 2 are just as good as the ones in Round 1, but I think he's off on that. At #59 you're going to be down to Parker Washington, Tank Dell, maybe Rashee Rice, Marvin Mims or Cedrick Tillman.
  15. Tim Settle seems to be in the most hot-water entering the season. Beane just said in his press conference yesterday that the staff likes what they have in Oliver.
  16. I'm not surprised. At the season ending press conference he said that he was getting shoulder surgery and wanted to re-sign. This gives the Bills at least 4 active roster DTs to head to camp with.
  17. I think something like that is the way we are trending. With McDermott running the defense now, and obvious roster holes at MLB, DT#4, DE, I wouldn't be shocked if this is exactly the type of draft we'll see. If you could get Mingo in the 4th (a player that Cosell likes) that would be on-brand for the Bills (middle-round skill position players).
  18. Shakir is their Wild Card. If he can gain the trust of the Coaching Staff and Allen, it could be one lever to pull for higher level play.
  19. Let's look line to line. 2022 Dawkins - Saffold - Morse - Bates - Brown 2023 Dawkins - McGovern - Morse - Bates - Brown The Bills re-signed Boettger, signed Jack Anderson, signed David Quesenberry, and you'd have to believe the Bills hope that Tommy Doyle can get healthy to compete for the swing OT job. I think objectively, it looks like the same offensive line - barring the Bills taking an OT at #27. I don't see the suggestion that others have had on this forum about a new OT pushing Dawkins to OG or RT. 2022 Miller - Jones - Oliver - Rousseau 2023 Miller PUP? - Jones - Oliver - Rousseau No signings on the Defensive Line. Shaq Lawson and Jordan Phillips are Free Agents. So, this leaves a rotation of Rousseau, Epenesa, Basham at DE, and Jones, Oliver and Settle at DT with no one signed long-term.
  20. I'm not convinced that McDermott/Beane will go WR high enough in this draft to get a difference maker. I think they've had a good FA period overall with respect to how little money they had to work with. In general, they've signed players you've heard of, and have been active in getting numbers with ~10 guys signed. But offensively the approach is looking more like 2021 and 2022 approaches - low end WRs behind Diggs, Davis back as the #2, patching the offensive line together with low-end starters, saving money on backup QB, and adding another running back. I just think the draft is setting up for LB, DE, DT early because the Bills lack numbers. With only 6 picks, there just isn't a realistic method to push Brown at RT, get another high-end WR, add another TE, add a DE to hold the fort if Von can't go, sign a 4th DT and find a MLB. The Bills should look at potentially trading back at #27, but definitely in Round 2 to acquire more picks.
  21. If the Bills want to check down constantly then why not hire Joe Lombardi as the OC? Then James Cook can be our leading pass-catcher, and we can score 22-points per game.
  22. I'm sick of listening to that guy. Freaking know-it-all and has been since Day One here. I'm sure Sean will get his new defensive toys early in the draft as always.
  23. Then this point needs to be HAMMERED home to McDermott and Beane: GET JOSH SOME REAL FREAKING WEAPONS. So sick of hearing this crap from this staff. A talent people. That’s what you need. Not discount bargain basement Goodwill outlet clearance rack.
  24. The bar is/was Damar Hamlin, Jaquan Johnson and Jared Mayden. The Bills had 0 depth behind Hyde and Poyer, so they're doing something here.
