Bishop - he's terrible - he's a linebacker - that's what he looked like. He looks like a fish out of water in space. You know the staff recognizes it because watch where he is aligned - 25 yards off the ball - trying to keep runs funneled to the inside or keep catches in front of him. 0 playmaking ability.

I'm just saying it is not a shock that he couldn't separate or effectively play the X. That's all. Analysts pegged him to struggle right away. He played exactly like his scouting reports said he would. All GMs say they don't care about 40-yard dashes, until someone runs a 4.2, 4.3 and then they're being taken in Round 1.

He's 100% right on Keon Coleman. Slow jump baller are 4th Rounders. By Lance Zierlein - NFL Analyst Draft Projection: Rounds 2-3 NFL Comparison: Drake London "Coleman might lack the athletic traits to be a well-rounded WR2. Instead, keep an eye on him as a big slot receiver who can be a red-zone specialist." Prototypical size and high-end ball skills. Attacks underneath throws with extended, sticky hands. Works aggressively back on short and intermediate throws. Unlikely to see focus drops when watching his tape. Meets jump balls with full extension to the high-point. Uses size to gain advantage over the cornerback on jump-ball wins. Hard to bring down after the catch and as a punt returner. Press coverage can blanket his release and catch a ride. Below-average acceleration getting out of breaks and cuts. Could struggle finding separation to avoid excessive contested catches. Needs to play through downfield corners to secure catch space. Capable of being a much more effective run blocker. Is that not what he turned into in 2024?

Is it time to move on from McDermott?
Straight Hucklebuck replied to Monty98's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have definitely seen the Sabres. Might want to look harder than down the hallway for a GM. Hey Kevyn - you've been here for awhile and ran Harbor Center - do you want to be GM? Like Ralph Wilson and Russ Brandon scanning a "list of names" and deciding on two in-house finalists for Bills GM in 2010 - Buddy Nix and John Guy. Then sign him to a lifetime contract then. As long as Allen is the QB, its McDermott and Beane. They get Allen's entire career whether or not they appear in or win a Super Bowl. -
I'd keep Shakir - even at that stupid price tag - because I don't trust Beane and his FO to properly replace him. I don't trust this FO to properly replace Cook if they used him in a trade, I think they'd draft a 4th-Rounder and Ty Johnson would become the lead back. At $10M - extend, I think that's a no-brainer. Bernard is a low number, so at $6.7M you're not tied to him. Extend him - the Bills have no pipeline at linebacker behind him. Downside is he will likely get injured again, and he's just alright. Wait a year on Benford because I would want to see how he returns from the two concussions he suffered at the end of 2024. If he gets concussed quickly into 2025 then you're happy you didn't extend him. I also expect the Bills to draft a corner high this year so you'll have that data point. At $22.6M a year you always have the Franchise Tag. So in order: 1. Shakir 2. Cook 3. Bernard 4. Benford Also need to consider Rousseau.

The Brian Orakpo draft with the picture of him working out with a chain. That's where most Bills fans were.

Steelers approach Jags about a Trevor Lawrence Trade
Straight Hucklebuck replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
Makes sense - Lawrence has been physically beaten up the past two seasons in Jacksonville and has endured a sea of changes in the coaching staff and now FO. The Steelers are desperate, stuck in purgatory as a 9-11 win team that will never get a crack at the top prospects. -
Is it time to move on from McDermott?
Straight Hucklebuck replied to Monty98's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think what we're seeing in this thread is most people don't ever want to move on from McDermott because it's possible to do worse. -
Tell you what - Baylon Spector is not helping himself off this short list of actual players who played. When he’s on the field he is relentlessly targeted.
-
Again, I find it hard to believe he’ll pull a Le’Veon Bell. Also, the Bills are a loyal franchise and at minimum they’ll bump his salary. I doubt they went into the year end press conference totally unaware that Cook wants a new deal. The Bills couldn’t extend his deal until this offseason anyways so how could there be all this built up animosity?

Well luckily for you and the majority he’ll be back in 2025 to try again. -
Remember Marcus Buggs starting at MLB? I think he was 5’10-11” 223 pounds maybe? From Georgia Tech maybe? Nic Harris from Oklahoma I believe in the 6th Round - maybe 6’0” 222 pounds? Another converted safety, Alvin Bowen 6th Rounder from Iowa State - another 220 pound linebacker. I remember I wanted Ahtyba Rubin in the 6th Round and the Bills took Xavier Omon from a DII school.

The John Wendling experiment was really bad.

That entire Buddy Nix 2010 was the worst I think I’ve ever seen. Hiring Chan Gailey, transitioning to a 3-4 under George Edwards, trading Lynch, keeping Trent Edwards, Torrel Troupe and Alex Carrington, Chris Kelsay extension. Not Buddy Nix: Another one was Vontae Davis retiring at halftime.

Like right away getting in fights with Eric Wood who was yelling about all the money he didn’t earn.

Demetrius Bell was one with Chris Brown hyping him up because he was Karl Malone’s estranged kid. I still remember he had 9-reps on the bench press.
