The interesting nugget for me is what the decision making logic was driving the new regime (Beane and McDermott) to spend #12, #53, #56 and Cordy Glenn on Josh Allen while trading away a similar developmental guy in Cardale Jones? Beane wasn’t here when McDermott passed on Mahomes and Watson, but if they wanted the big arm, why didn’t they draft Mahomes last season? How do you watch Watson’s career and conclude he’s not worth one first round pick, but Allen is worth trading up for? What reason(s) past he’s tall and has a big arm are there? Because through two interviews they sound like Whaley speaking about Manuel. Presence and really tall, nothing about accurate passing and scoring points.

My head is stuck at what I said originally. What is the logic from Beane and McDermott coveting Allen past he’s tall and has a big arm? I’ve listened to two interviews from Beane now. What did you like about Allen? He’s big, tall, physical, has a big arm to play in Buffalo conditions. In the second interview he mentioned Cam Newton by name. Beane didn’t talk about reading a defense until specifically asked to define Allen’s college responsibilities. My opinion in their decision making remains unchanged by new interviews. Josh Allen is here because he’s tall and has a big arm, and throwing the football with accuracy from the pocket with anticipation is not a discerning trait. My problem is - this is why Russel Wilson is not a Bill. Nix loved everything about him except he wished he was a few inches taller. Whaley loved Manuel because of his presence. Cardale Jones was a massive QB with the same “raw talent”. We’ve seen this type of draft pick before from Buffalo, for the same reasons as our GM is giving now. This time we traded #12, #53, #56 and Cordy Glenn to do it, while passing on Mahomes, Watson and Rosen along the way. Hope all the data projects the wrong outcome and Allen is the anomaly.

NFL Coaches and GMs constantly tell their fans that “the tape” is the centerpiece of their evaluations, and that the Combine is useful mainly for the interviews/medical, not the measures. Josh Allen at #7 is a prime example of why that’s not always the case. Can’t be. No way you watched that career and concluded a Mountain West honorable mention was worth #12, #53, #56 and Cordy Glenn, but Deshaun Watson wasn’t worth #10 last year other than 6’5” and 82-yards worth of arm strength. Simply put, Beane and McDermott can’t get their head out of Carolina. They wanted their own big, strong armed QB that reminded them of Cam. They saw a 6’5” guy with a rocket and made their game tape/evaluation fit that decision. Listen to Beane speak about Allen. Sounds awfully similar to Nix/Whaley at the 2013 season ticket holders box club speaking about Manuel’s size and room presence and never once mentioning reading a defense or throwing accurately. How is Allen a better prospect than Cardale Jones? He’s not. Cardale had more college success, was the same size, had the same arm, was the same age coming out, was just as raw. But Whaley picked him and we can’t have that (ego). It it bothers me to hear 35/40-Year video vet Cosell talk about pocket presence & accuracy, and our GM is talking about snowy weather and running the ball. Once again the Bills are going for the Rudy story. Hoping beyond hope that they outsmarted the league by swimming away from logic and selecting the diamond in the rough. Sal is already talking about obtaining WRs with large “catch radius” to help inaccurate Allen (literally heard all of these ideas about Manuel - the footwork, picking brain of a vet, working with a QB guru, getting elite talent around him). Does our Coach really mean to change our offense to an aggressive throw deep style? You’re doing that with Kelvin Benjamin as your #1 and Zay Jones as your #2? After all it’s still snowy, cold Buffalo and we need to pound the ball.

Because Primetime101 the logic of trading Glenn, trading two 2nd Rounders and #12 for a guy who had that college career is questionable. Has never dominated at any level of football. Our GM sounds just like Whaley discussing EJ Manuel. He’s tall, he has a big arm, he has presence. But you don’t hear Beane speak on his ability to read a defense or throw a ball accurately. Somehow what a QB actually has to do physically gets left out of the evaluation.

It took three 2nds for the Jets to move up from 6 to 3. For the Bills to get to 12 to 2? It will take 12, 22, 53, 56 and probably next years first.

The NFL is still waiting to see all these reptilian solar skills Sammy has. Four years in and the #4 pick in the draft has yet to have a better season than 7th Rounder Steve Johnson.

The decision on Tyrod was made a long time ago: he isn’t good enough to win a Super Bowl. Doesnt matter if he is better than AJ McCarro. (I don’t even consider what Peterman is because he sucks). This Staff, and I think they’re correct, has decided to break away from Year 4 of Tyrod Taylor and set out to find our own Franchise QB. I don’t always agree with the Bills FO, that’s for sure, but come on people, the Band Aid has to get ripped off at some point. You can’t keep taking Trent, Ryan, Kyle, Tyrod and going year after year hoping for the Rudy story. I appreciate Tyrod’s efforts, he was a true professional. But he’s not good enough to halt your plans, put your coaching position on the line and build around. Jauron got fired trying to build around Trent, Chan got fired sticking with Fitzpatrick, Marrone wanted Orton back, and Rex/Whaley couldn’t do better than EJ/Tyrod. Its time.

Why keep Tyrod? I agree with the FO and Coaching Staff to try and do better. The Bills have tried to take their own or other teams backups and make them starters for 10 of the past 11 years.

40+ sacks in 4 years. Compared to what most most high priced FAs do (Haynesworth, Suh) he was a successful player here. Heck Clowney is said to command $114M in his next deal. Who would pay that much for him? Nix was also convinced that a Jauron holdover at QB was the Franchise QB as well.

Peterman sucks, get over it. Throwing up the 199th pick from 18 years ago does not relate in anyway to Nate Peterman. What does relate to Nate Peterman is his awful play on the field in the limited chances he’s been out there. This is reminds me of the fans who thought Jeff Tuel was the answer, or wanted Brian Brohm to get more time.

Nix was an atrocious GM, and should have never been in that position to begin with. Ralph and Russ “scanned a list of names” and only interviewed two in house candidates: failed Jauron holdover, JohnGuy, and scout Buddy Nix. Nix was atrocious. 2010 - Extended Kelsay, flipped the defense to a 3-4 for 9 weeks, and blew most of the draft on the switch (none of those players worked out), hired Chan Gailey who was out of football, traded Lynch for chump change and decided to keep both holdover QBs on the roster. He also failed on his second Head Coach choice in Marrone, and never seriously attempted to fix the Quarterback position, all the while the defense kept flip flopping back and forth from a 4-3 to a 3-4 with disastrous results.

I think it will take 12, 21, both 2nd Rounders and a 1st next year.

Give me a break. Whatever man. Maybe we we should find Levi Jones because after all he was a 7th Rounder and he “never got a fair shake”. Nate Peterman stunk up the joint immediately.

I liked Tyrod back in 2015 and was rooting for him beat out EJ and Matt Cassel. But like Holcomb and Trent and Fitzpatrick before him, it’s just starts getting old watching the oscillation between poor and pretty good. You never get elite play, you never get winning. It starts feeling long in the tooth at the end of Year 2 with these guys. You’re always have one foot out the door.

Because he’s a backup. We gave Trent Edwards 3 years. We gave Ryan Fitzpatrick 3 years. We gave Orton a year and wanted him back for Year 2. We gave Tyrod Taylor 3 years. That’s 10 of the last 11 years trying to make up backups the “Franchise QB”. That’s why.

Our Front 7 is mediocre and has no depth or up and coming players. LB depth is non-existent. OLine is thin after Wood retirement and Glenn trade. Still no answer at RG or RT. Incognito is well into his 30’s now. No backup RB with juice in his legs. Little to no WR depth. No QB. Tight End has been lacking the entire duration of this Franchise. One corner that we can count on Day One.

I don’t care what the anomalies are. He’s barely played a game and a half total and has 6 picks already. I cant think of anything fans saw in him that makes anyone want to invest more time in him. A 5th Rounder is not a plan at QB.

The concussion didn’t ruin his career or alter the trajectory it was on. He played the same style from Day One. Trent had no guts, no killer instinct, no emotion.
