So just depend on luck?
-
Yeah I mean this is the real question facing the organization in the next 1-3 years. If McDermott and the Bills keep losing in the Divisional, how long does he get? He's a 5-6 career coach in the Playoffs. If you keep him too long, you look back and say we had Marvin Lewis, we had Marty Schottenheimer and didn't act quickly enough. 2024 will be his 5th Josh Allen prime Playoff run.
-
Year 8 now for McDermott. It's not going to get better. We talk about the Josh Allen experience. This stuff is baked into the Sean McDermott experience.

If Purdy wants $45M - $50M I think you have to find a way out of doing that. He’s in that 16th - 20th range.
-
Purdy multiple underthrown balls tonight. Hangs up there forever.

Yeah I think I saw a QBR of 97.9

We’d be killing Joe Brady for running the ball this much. Williams now has 23 carries for 80-yards.

We’d be killing McDermott for running as much as the Rams are running Williams. 23 carries for 80 yards. Geez that’s inefficient. -
My favorite is when they’re playing 12-yards off, and the corners start back pedaling further before the snap.

Nucua is slowing down

You have to keep everything in front of you. Eventually they’ll make a mistake.

Deebo looks thick man

WRs completely blanketed, Stafford is 4/13 for 23-yards.
-
Rain stopped, same smothered coverage against the invincible Rams.
-
Block that kick!
-
Yup that’s all it is - divisional game - rain - except … two weeks ago Rams scored 0 in the first half and limped to 21 points for the game in a dome against the Saints.
-
So the 49ers stole that chant from the Titans?
-
Wouldn’t you know, the Rams look mortal.

Rapp, Hamlin, Douglas aren’t long term injuries. All that really matters for the Bills is starting the Playoffs as healthy as possible. Chris Simms brings up a good point - he thinks Bills will need to go aggressive against good teams on defense, meanwhile our coaches seems to be going the other way talking about simplifying and fundamentals in this weeks press conferences. That’s the only benefit I can see playing all starters all the way to the end - reps on defense with different strategy. But then you’re putting that on tape and McDermott come Playoff time has said do what we do, keep everything the same, do what you’re good at and so forth. I don’t expect the Bills to change their approach, therefore health.

Good video from Chris Simms breaking down what we saw against the Rams and why it applies to the Playoffs. It’s everything that some of the posters have observed here, and matches what Belichick has said. - The secondary is slow. - Because of the lack of speed, corners can’t play man coverage either. - Nobody scary on the defensive line - Soft zone doesn’t work against power arm QBs and smart route schematics, it’s too simple. Stay patient and it’s death by 1,000 cuts as Allen sits on the sidelines. - Against lesser teams the Bills can mask their rush defense because they don’t have to get out of Nickel. - Delayed Blitzes are so easy to diagnosis and counter, so Bills have to get more aggressive early in the down. Means you might get beat deep, but have to be willing to try.

Bills have a collection of 6-guys at DT and none of them are that great.
-
Yeah I’ve watched that Douglas injury on the play and the rib shot definitely appears to be harder than Kupp “falling on” his knee. Rapp was classic Rapp on that playing - just flying in at 100-mph, not even close to Kupp, shoulder right into Douglas ribs, and it’s right there that Douglas grimaces in pain.

Ulofoshio can hit the road. Clapp will be gone when Grable is activated. -
Eye Roll towards McDermott for this. Expectations for Ja'Marcus Ingram all day against the Lions WR are zero for me. What a complete waste of a pick Elam has turned out to be. Hasn't developed in McDermott's system at all since he was drafted.
