  1. Then again, I remember Modrak talking about how the team thought Troup was the best DT of the bunch at #41, and another where he talked about how Chris Ellis was going to make the jump from Year 1 to Year 2. The Bills are horrible at drafting.
  2. I listened to the interview. My opinion on Buffalo sports for awhile has been call me when you're good. Whether it be McDermott, Whaley or Tim Murray. Trying to listen to McDermott as if he is going to give the fans any real answers is not worth your time. He said much of the same things our old failed Head Coaches used to. "Work hard", "earn the right to compete and win", "draft the best player". Who knows, and at this point its the Bills job to try and make fans care again.
  3. I don't agree with this. Goodell has shown if you don't bend to the will of the NFL, you lose your team.
  4. This is Roger "the Puppet" Goodell. And he has show one thing - all he cares about is money.
  5. I am not sold at all on McDermott. He talks about Andy Reid and "one voice". Dude you're monotone and haven't won anything. Also that wasn't much of a denial, we've had conversations, ok...
  6. In 2011-2012 Roger Goodell already stated that the Bills need a new stadium when he visited for the Eagles game. He will strongarm and threaten the Bills with relocation unless they build a new stadium as he did with the Vikings, Chargers, St Louis and Oakland. Build a new stadium or lose your team.
  7. I know this is commonly accepted, was this reported as such? Rex pushing for Tyrod? We have seen Whaley's competition against EJ Manuel - UDRFA Jeff Tuel, journeyman Practice Squader Thad Lewis, Dennis Dixon, traded for Matt Cassel, got outbid for Josh McCown, Tyrod Taylor and Cardale Jones.
  8. Actually Nix and Brandon led the 5 day "no stone unturned" search for Marrone, with Whaley as Assistant GM.
  9. But ... there are no results to back up Whaley against Schopp or Sullivan. The team won 9 in 2014, 8 in 2015, 7 in 2016, after inheriting 4, 6, 6 and 6 from 2010-2013. So where are they way wrong? As far as no suggestions on GM, don't do what Russ and Ralph did in 2010 and "scan a list of names" - actually get out there and interview people.
  10. I think at this point, its more than fair to criticize Whaley over a variety of topics. 1. Since he arrived in 2010, he has been the #1 or #2 ranking FO member. The team is no closer to making the Playoffs than there were when Buddy Nix said the Bills are close ... 7 years ago. 2. Jerry is right, there are few examples of young, first contract talent on this team. What up and coming players do we have? You have Watkins at #4 overall with the trade in 2014, Darby in 2015, McCoy in 2015, Incognito in 2015. Clay is not effective for that kind of money. He also made nice moves unearthing Alexander and Brown last year in FA. That's about it. 3. Whaley's QB acumen is on the table for debate. He said after the 2013 that he was excited about Manuel, Tuel and Thad Lewis at QB. And it wasn't until after Marrone had his blow up on the sidelines that he signed Orton out of retirement. After that he got outbid for Josh McCown, traded for Matt Cassel and signed Tyrod Taylor. His plan at QB so far has been to take backups from around the league, and have them compete against EJ Manuel. Also, the reports that Whaley was pushing EJ on Coaching candidates in 2015. Whaley continued to push EJ all the way to Week 17 in 2016. 4. Consistent reports since he became GM that he is difficult to work with and fights with the Coaches here. 5. The team doesn't have much cap space because they have been so reliant on Free Agency (due to poor drafting), and they have 6 total draft picks to try and fill all the holes because we keep trading up. 6. His Press Conferences clearly show that he doesn't set the Vision for this team. The Coach does. And he just goes and gets talent to fit whatever scheme. He doesn't pick the Coaches, doesn't have a vision for the team, the defense continues to flip flop schemes every year. What evidence is there that winning is close?
  11. The Steelers. The entire city of Pittsburgh.
  12. You had reports at the end of 2013 that stated Whaley and Marrone were fighting with the "old guard" of Brandon, Overdorf and Berchtold for control. Then you had the shouting match between Brandon, Whaley and Marrone at the end of TC in 2014. More reports about Marrone and Whaley not getting along at the end of 2014. Last year you had reports that Whaley was fighting with Rex Ryan. Now, reports about McDermott buddying up to Pegula, the FO not wanting Tyrod, but the new Coaching staff wanting him, leaving Whaley out in the cold. Even if this stuff is 1/2 wrong, or 3/4 wrong it shows that time and time again the Bills can't be trusted. The plan just blows all over the road with the Bills trying to undo decisions they just made, changing defenses again, paying double for a WR then going ground and pound. And now the DC of the Panthers just walks into our organization, displaces our figure head GM, and just like Rex before him, is going to get whatever he wants. That doesn't give me any faith whatsoever that things will change.
  13. I like what the Bills are doing so far. We had two options really - make one more run with Tyrod, or if the Bills did not bring him back, then they would have been smart to just sell off all parts and pieces and completely start stock piling assets. The Bills took option one - Aaron Williams was overrated in my opinion. Living off his one good season in 2013, otherwise he was hurt or burned when they tried him at corner (2011, 2012). At $14.5M cost, I'm glad Gilmore is gone. When I watched Bills games, I would say outloud - if I was the other team I would go at Gilmore all game, he isn't going to stop anything. No problem with not retaining Goodwin, he's had chances for 4 years to stay healthy and produce and he hasn't. He won't be heard of again in San Francisco. I don't mind any of the cuts they've made, including Corey Graham. The Bills have finally blown out the last of these terrible Buddy Nix kind of Safeties we have collected over the years: Duke Williams, John Meeks. I am happy to see a reset at the position. Bringing in a RT for discussions is a good move, and I think they will pick over the remainders at WR. I would say I want the Bills to continue looking for options at DE/DT/LB because we are thin in the Front-7. Now can Whaley hit on any draft picks? I don't have any faith there.
