  1. Kind of like the people who thought Jeff Tuel should get more time, or even the small group who tried to make the case for Brian Brohm.
  2. McDermott talks about earning the right to win, and getting better everyday. Yet, week after week, we play soft coverage against EVERY WR in the league like they're Randy Moss in their prime. He deserves to be flame broiled after this all-time stinker.
  3. You should have never believed it in the first place. At Cincy, chance to go to 4-1, the Bills lose. At New York, chance to go 6-2, the Bills lose. Every step up game the Bills have they choke. You should have never believed in the first place.
  4. This shows you how far the Bills are. This was a 3-6 football team playing in a soccer stadium ...
  5. And this is why Bills fans need to stop the fascination with every QB that wanders onto this roster. Bills fans have this expectation that every QB on the roster DESERVES their shot to start. He was a 5th Rounder for a reason. And to think Deshaun Watson could have been a Bill, so could Mahomes. Tell me again John Murphy how good this regime is....
  6. This is the paper thin depth that I have been talking about. Our staff loves character, and choir boys, not talent. This is the fade every season as the games get tougher and was told nope this is a new season by "veteran" Bills fans on this forum and on WGR 550. I was worried about the offense the first time I heard McDermott talk about running the ball in Buffalo. Well turns out that ONCE AGAIN all the "Negative Nancies" were SPOT ON regarding this team.
  7. Mahomes got rave reviews in Camp and made plays in the preseason. I never have seen Peterman as an attempt to be the answer here. The chances he becomes a high caliber starter are less than 5%.
  8. Schopp and the guys on the radio still are talking about the Playoffs. I see this season as the same as always. Tyrod had almost this exact record in 2015 and 2016 as the starter and the team faded down the stretch and lost critical games. This year, they almost made the turn, had their opportunity with the Jets, had the chance to get to 6-2. Instead they are now where they always are, 5-4, needing to go 5-2, or 4-3 to make the Playoffs with the Patriots twice. I have no faith, Tyrod or Peterman that this is going to happen with the Chiefs and Patriots (x2) on the roster, and the Bills are due to lose to the Colts. So in regards to Peterman, I have no objection for the Bills trying something else. We've seen this movie over and over. 5-4 and clinging.
  9. Here is my take, later half of the drought: 2006 - Got Kyle Williams and that's it. 2007 - Got Lynch, but lost that trade decisively. 2008 - McKelvin was never really the corner we envisioned, but he lasted in the NFL for awhile. Otherwise an awful draft - Alvin Bowen, James Hardy, Xavier Omon, Derek Fine (one of my most hated drafted ever, why take a 25 year old, 4.95 Tight End), but did redeem some with Steve Johnson in the 7th. 2009 - Hit on Levitre, Byrd and Wood. 2010 - One of the worst drafts in Bills history. Other than 2012 with Spiller, got nothing. Ed Wang, Danny Batten. 2011 - Dareus at times was disruptive, Aaron Williams had one nice season 2012 - Gilmore was a disappointment, Glenn was a hit, otherwise nothing and missed on Russell Wilson for TJ Graham. 2013 - EJ was a bust, Kiko and Woods both hit 2014 - Took Watkins as the 1st WR, I think its clear now that he is no better than Evans, OBJ, Landry. Preston was a rare find for the Bills in the 3rd. 2015 - Darby was a hit, could not understand the Tony Steward pick 2016 - Its early, but Lawson plays like Courtney Upshaw. He just doesn't have the explosiveness. Otherwise, nothing out of that draft. 2017 - Some of the players look like they can contribute, and White has played well at times. Overall, that's 12 Drafts, and other than Kyle Williams, not one other name worthy of going on the Wall. The Bills don't draft well. Certainly when you look at how the Seahawks got good (Wilson, Wagner, Wright, Thomas, Chancellor, Sherman) they stacked 3 good years in a row and built the backbone of the team. The Bills don't get high impact from their first and second round picks.
  10. I've been listening to WGR since the 1990's when Chuck Dickerson was there. Unlike most Buffalo fans, I liked Jerry Sullivan and looked forward to him. He keeps it brutally honest and doesn't buy the chintzy excuses that OBD puts out. Let's go through the hosts. Howard - To me, he is the definition of 'ok' - you're not going to get much in the way of ideas, theories. After all, the guy has never eaten a strawberry. Jeremy White - He has been on the Offense needs to get modern (both Sabres and Bills) quicker than any host. He didn't buy Marrone hype, when several other WGR hosts did. He led the discussion on why Sammy Watkins was not being used. In general, I like him. He paces that show. Sal Cappacio - I find him to be a non-stop talker and don't enjoy him. Anyway that he can work in the fact that he lived in Florida or has a son named Max, he does. "I will tell you" and "I go back to" are his catch phrases. John Murphy - Homer. 100% homer. Donald Jones - Really no depth or range. He echos John Murphy and that's about it. That day they were talking about Special Teams was mind numbing. Schopp - Consistently brings up new topics, new theories, new ideas. What I like about Schopp is he remembers all the reasons the Bills FO and Ownership made the decisions they made. He references history quite a bit, and puts timelines together on how/why decisions are made. Bulldog - Many times I find myself begging him to spit it out as he talks. He stutters and stammers quite a bit. But out of the hosts, he is in the Top 3.
  11. I have no desire to hear 6 hours of Homer radio. Or Donald Jones, aka the Echo Chamber. I dont agree with Schopp on this one, but he is WGRs most thought provoking and intuitive host.
  12. I am not sure why Schopp has been so adamant that this season feels so different. It almost felt different after the Raiders game. Then Bills lost two games in a row and are 5-4 again with hard part of schedule coming. Look it up, this is exactly where we always are after Week 10, +/- 1 game from 0.500, hoping to win games down the stretch. Schopp knows this.
  13. McDermot is obsessed with 3rd and manageable and Special Teams. I don't anticipate anything exotic. Traded for Benjamin and he got all of a handful of looks.
  14. I get tired of hearing that GM and HC weren't on the same page. Whaley was the #1 or #2 ranking FO member from 2010-2016. He said that Rex had the same philosophy on how to build a team, so I don't buy this same page excuse. The Bills don't Draft well, that's the biggest problem. The second biggest problem is a string of poor coaches: Jauron, Gailey, Marrone, Rex (who I thought would be better). I am not sold on McDermot or Beane. They are obsessed with running the ball and special teams. Let's see if this butter knife/popgun offense looks any better or is called anymore aggressively with Peterman.
  15. McDermott always references studying the tape and getting better everyday. I'd like to see that in reality with his team. His defense has allowed 12, 9, 16, 17, 20, 27, 14, 34, 47. They're getting worse. And the offense has show no signs off correcting a huge flaw - getting WRs involved. But it at least we have that rock solid Special Teams, with Brandon Tate giving us awesome returns.
  16. I agree. I've said consistently that the Bills had to run their record to 7-2, at minimum 6-3 to really give them enough cushion. The Bills fade every season down the stretch. Just go to Pro Football Reference. 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2008 they are either 5-5 or 5-4 after Week 10. Every year they need a 5-2 finish to get to 10-6 and it never happens. This is a function of years of poor drafting, leaving a paper thin roster. McDermott has made that depth even more shallow with his Special Teams obsession. I agree with you that the other part of the problem is a weak mindset. The Bills went into the Saints game with a meek gameplan on both sides of the ball. Playing soft zone coverage on the outside on D, and playing and absurdly conservative gameplan on offense. The Bills have had two step up games this year - at Cincinnati to get to 4-1, and at New York to get to 6-2, and they predictably lost both. Now they have to go 5-2 down the stretch to get to 10-6, not going to happen. Tyrod can't complete a pass, Benjamin is the new Sammy, a WR that the Coaches say they want to get involved but never do, and a defense that joins the 12 or so in the drought that have finished 22nd or worse against the run. Its over.
  17. McDermott talking about fundamentals..... Meanwhile Cedrick Thornton is getting spun around like a top in the middle of your defensive line. Meanwhile your QB is dumping off to Mike Tolbert on 3rd and long.
  18. The play calling is so weak. Why are we throwing sideways? The Bills act like Tyrod is inept. Oh oh and that Dareus trade is looking more stupid by the minute. Cedrick Thornton got turned sideways on that 25 yard run by Ingram.
  19. I don't think he is a flat out bust. But he profiles closer to what his Scouting Reports said - Courtney Upshaw with 5-8 sack range, verses a player like Joey Bosa, Vic Beasley, Von Miller, Justin Houston mold.
  20. You're right, seemed like Tolbert ran more than he did, but it was only 4 times.
  21. 1. Offensive Line 2. Didn't abandon the run quick enough 3. No Dareus 4. No Pass Rush I am sick of this team always being chained to "establishing the run". Last night they needed to ditch the run and start passing. We're going to top out as a poor mans Kansas City ala 2011-2016 if it's 150+ yards rushing or a loss. STOP RUNNING SWEEPS EVERY 3 PLAYS. You are losing yards every time.
