  1. Because Primetime101 the logic of trading Glenn, trading two 2nd Rounders and #12 for a guy who had that college career is questionable. Has never dominated at any level of football.

Our GM sounds just like Whaley discussing EJ Manuel. He’s tall, he has a big arm, he has presence. But you don’t hear Beane speak on his ability to read a defense or throw a ball accurately. Somehow what a QB actually has to do physically gets left out of the evaluation.

The answer to this question is you keep a player if he delivers the goods and you have no replacement that is better.

Preferably, your team actually is in a position to generally approach player decisions not from the standpoint of why should we keep a player, but instead WHICH of the many options for players do we choose to invest in!

As far as TT, to me it all starts with the FACT he PROVED himself capable of being THE QB to end the 17 year playoff drought!

Even better from the perspective of judging him as a QB, he QB'ed the team despite the somewhat bizarre lack of faith McD showed in him (yes it  was reasonable to doubt that a non-pocket passer could lead the team to an SB berth, the football stupid judgment the Bills braintrust made was that an NFL  concensus 5th round drafted rookie QB could lead the team to an SB- this would simply be unprecedented  (even Tom Brady, arguably the best QB ever needed to sit for a year and by his own testimony needed tons of help from seasoned vets before he was ready to lead his team as QB, McD made what looks like a real football stupid judgment that somehow this NFL consensus 5th round rookie talent was going to achieve a level of performance exceeding things even Tom Brady did).

TT on the other hand pretty clearly seems to have limitations in his ability to be the dropback passer needed to be capable of even getting a berth into the SB (much less win it).  However, a team not only needs to walk before they run and quite frankly after 17 years of missing the playoffs, the Bills needed to simply crawl before we walked.

Is TT capable of being the QB we need to go deep in the playoffs?  Almost certainly not!

However, the immediate mission last year was "merely" to break the 17 year playoff drought.  As George Bush would say, Mission Accomplished with TT playing a prominent role.

In fact, the Bills could not have accomplished making the playoffs without him (if you disagree then understand you are advocating that Nate Peterman could have led us to the playoffs if only McD had stuck with him and started him instead off TT after Nate's 5 INT game.

This reality being acknowledged (which some alleged Bills fans for some reason refuse to do}, the question after profusely thanking TT for his 2017 -play is to ask the question whether he is the QB capable of leading us in our next mission (go deep in the 2018 playoffs).

    The answer is probably not.

However, this leads directly to the question of what's the alternative and how much will it cost?

The decision on Tyrod was made a long time ago: he isn’t good enough to win a Super Bowl.

Doesnt matter if he is better than AJ McCarro. (I don’t even consider what Peterman is because he sucks).

This Staff, and I think they’re correct, has decided to break away from Year 4 of Tyrod Taylor and set out to find our own Franchise QB. I don’t always agree with the Bills FO, that’s for sure, but come on people, the Band Aid has to get ripped off at some point. You can’t keep taking Trent, Ryan, Kyle, Tyrod and going year after year hoping for the Rudy story.

I appreciate Tyrod’s efforts, he was a true professional. But he’s not good enough to halt your plans, put your coaching position on the line and build around.

Jauron got fired trying to build around Trent, Chan got fired sticking with Fitzpatrick, Marrone wanted Orton back, and Rex/Whaley couldn’t do better than EJ/Tyrod.

    Its time.

  3. 40+ sacks in 4 years.

Compared to what most most high priced FAs do (Haynesworth, Suh) he was a successful player here.

Heck Clowney is said to command $114M in his next deal. Who would pay that much for him?

My personal regard for the TBD community just plummeted.

Mario was a terrible signing in both foresight and hindsight. Buddy Nix paid an underachieving defensive lineman like a franchise quarterback. There should be nothing to debate. How many extra games did we win by giving Mario Freakin Williams a $100 million contract? He was our fourth-best defensive lineman in his best season.

Such a massive waste of cap space.

Nix was also convinced that a Jauron holdover at QB was the Franchise QB as well.

Give you a break from what?  Facts?

Did I say Nate would be great?

Umm. Foles was available I believe

    who else? Keenum?

    Peterman has a horrible half.

He was put in because what McDermott had a brain fart or because TT was playing poorly?

And yet many held out hope for Tyrod Taylor.

I guess bills fans are clueless

    Highly rated prospect he said?

like some experts said about Nate?

The Natehaters you gotta love em no?

    Peterman sucks, get over it.

Throwing up the 199th pick from 18 years ago does not relate in anyway to Nate Peterman.

What does relate to Nate Peterman is his awful play on the field in the limited chances he’s been out there.

This is reminds me of the fans who thought Jeff Tuel was the answer, or wanted Brian Brohm to get more time.

  5. Nix was an atrocious GM, and should have never been in that position to begin with. Ralph and Russ “scanned a list of names” and only interviewed two in house candidates: failed Jauron holdover, JohnGuy, and scout Buddy Nix.

    Nix was atrocious.

2010 - Extended Kelsay, flipped the defense to a 3-4 for 9 weeks, and blew most of the draft on the switch (none of those players worked out), hired Chan Gailey who was out of football, traded Lynch for chump change and decided to keep both holdover QBs on the roster.

He also failed on his second Head Coach choice in Marrone, and never seriously attempted to fix the Quarterback position, all the while the defense kept flip flopping back and forth from a 4-3 to a 3-4 with disastrous results.

    What round was Tom Brady?

    A 6th Rounder

    What round was Tyrod Taylor?

    A 6th Rounder

    What round was Ryan Fitzpatric?

    A 7th Rounder

    See the source image

    Give me a break.

    Whatever man.

Maybe we we should find Levi Jones because after all he was a 7th Rounder and he “never got a fair shake”.

Nate Peterman stunk up the joint immediately.

  7. I liked Tyrod back in 2015 and was rooting for him beat out EJ and Matt Cassel.

But like Holcomb and Trent and Fitzpatrick before him, it’s just starts getting old watching the oscillation between poor and pretty good.

You never get elite play, you never get winning. It starts feeling long in the tooth at the end of Year 2  with these guys.

You’re always have one foot out the door.

  8. Our Front 7 is mediocre and has no depth or up and coming players. LB depth is non-existent.

OLine is thin after Wood retirement and Glenn trade. Still no answer at RG or RT. Incognito is well into his 30’s now.

No backup RB with juice in his legs.

    Little to no WR depth.

    No QB.

Tight End has been lacking the entire duration of this Franchise.

One corner that we can count on Day One.

I don’t care what the anomalies are.

He’s barely played a game and a half total and has 6 picks already.

I cant think of anything fans saw in him that makes anyone want to invest more time in him.

A 5th Rounder is not a plan at QB.
